Not All Who Wander Are Lost

It's not every day you find someone willing to travel through life with you.  When you do it's all kinds of special and magical and the journey is an adventure!  Yesterday my parents celebrated their 41st anniversary, and I just had to commemorate the occasion with a card.  They dated and married in the early 70s when hitchhiking was commonplace.  I've heard some of their stories and when I sat down to get started on this project I knew I'd be using Maps and Backpack from Saturated Canary.  I acquired these cuties last month from the lovely, generous, sweet, and talented Krista Smith after making a donation to Help One Now's Backpacks of Hope.  The images are now retired but I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to add them to my collection (and while making a small difference in the greater world too)!

The image is colored with Copics and cut using my Classic Squares Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  The layout is from Sketch n Stash (#130) and I had a lot of fun with this one!  Pretty much everything except the image is from my stash: papers (The Travel Stack from DCWV), acrylic stamp sentiments (Studio 112), silver dog tag (Making Memories), and long fasteners (Tim Holtz).  I also added a die cut Floral Ovals (also from Spellbinders) above the image panel.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  Wishing you many more miles together!

The Corrosive Challenge #191 - All Work and No Play

They say motherhood is the toughest job you'll ever love.  So it seemed fitting to use Unstoppable Mom from KennyK for the new Corrosive Challenge - All Work and No Play.  Show us your creations depicting a job or career to play along!  I happen to be a working mom, but stay at home moms work just as hard during their days, maybe more so!  Our challenge is, of course, sponsored by the wonderful Kenny and Elena at KennyKDownloads, and if you join us you have a chance to win 3 digis of your choice!

My image is colored with Copics.  I added just a bit of glaze pen to the lenses of her glasses.  The layout is from Digi Sketch Challenge.  They have a theme and a sketch in their challenges and you can chose to do one or the other or both.  Since their theme this time is Say It With Flowers, I decided to incorporate that as well.  Papers are Basic Grey - Out of Print: Storyteller.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  I also added some flat back pearls and  a scrap of cheesecloth for some added texture.  The sentiment is from Janet Dunn for Studio G (Hampton Arts).  It was one of those dollar bin ones and I thought it was perfect for this card!

Thanks for stopping in, and I hope you'll head over to The Corrosive Challenge to see the team working for the weekend!  (Yup, couldn't resist the 80s reference!)  I think I may have found my mojo so after some errands and dinner with my parents maybe I can put in some more hours at the craft desk!  Enjoy your Sunday!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, 21, E31, E34, E70, E74, E79, R32, R81, R85, B32, B34, B37, Y32, Y35, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, YR15, N0, N2, N4, N6).

I Baked You A Cake

Well, not really.  But I made a card!  It's a snowy afternoon here, and I was thinking this might be a good time to catch up on my crafting.  I have several projects I need to work on, but first I wanted to share a birthday card that I made for my neighbor's special day last week.  She's a chef and loves baking so I chose to work with Chef Marci from La-La-Land Crafts.  Marci is colored with Copics and cut out using the Beaded Oval Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  I added some flowers and flat back pearls.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Happy Day.  The sketch is challenge #192 from Sketchy Colors.

I haven't been spending very much time at my craft desk lately.  I'm hoping my mojo kicks back in soon.  Like today.  I needed a break after the holidays, but now I'm well-rested, have caught up on most of my DVRed TV shows, and even have 2 books read this year already.  So while the snow is coming down (they predicted "flurries") and the small man is watching Star Wars and playing with his vast array of toys I'm hoping to get my creative on.

Check back tomorrow for a new Corrosive Challenge!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E33, E79, BG10, BG72, R32, R81, R85, N0, N2, N4, N6, Y23, Y28, YG93).

KennyK's Krafty Krew #163 - Anything Goes with a Twist: Sparkle

Welcome to my second post for today and for the new year!  I'm starting off strong with 2 cards less than a week in!  2014 brings with it a blank canvas just waiting to be painted.  Or, more appropriately, colored with Copics!  I recently announced that I was selected to join KennyK's Krafty Krew and today is the day it all becomes official!  Thank you for joining me for my first challenge on the Krew.

The theme for challenge #163 is Anything Goes with a Twist: Sparkle!  I colored Soho with Copics and added a liberal amount of gold Stickles to her boots.  She is matted on one of the Crown Ovals Nestabilities dies from Spellbinders and a Classic Oval embossed with a leopard print folder.  I added gold pearls, flowers, and a flourish cut with a Sizzix Decorative Flourish set.  Papers are Basic Grey - Little Black Dress.  The sketch is #200 from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

The Corrosive Challenge #190 - New Beginnings

The new year always brings with it the promise of renewal, a clean slate, a fresh start....  And just a few days into 2014 The Corrosive Challenge brings you a new challenge along with a new sponsor!  We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and is ready to jump back into crafting!

We're welcoming back one of our favorites: A Day For Daisies!  Tammy is offering a $12 gift voucher to the store for our winner as well as generously supplying our design team with images to use for the challenge.  Visit the shop HERE to see all of the wonderful, whimsical images they have to offer!

Challenge #190 is all about those "New Beginnings".  Whether it's a marriage, a new baby, starting over after a divorce, a new job, retirement, graduation, or any other occasion that marks a rite of passage from one stage or phase of life to the next.  I chose A Royal Pain as my image and opted to make a card for an expectant mom.  She is colored with Copics and glittered up with some Frosted Lace Stickles on her veil.  I cut her out using the Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders and stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things' Baby Bump set in the corner.  I added Lavish flower trim from Tim Holtz, a row of pearls, and some flowers to finish it off.  Paper is My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found: Madison Avenue.  The sketch is from Try Stampin' On Tuesday (#149).  Their twist was "Sparkle It Up".

This is the first of two posts today so check back for my KennyK debut!  In the meantime, head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what's "new" with team!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R32, R81, R85).
