School's in Session
Back to school, Labor Day Weekend, and good-bye to Summer... I can't believe how fast time flies! Some of you are celebrating the return of the school bus. I know it may mean a little extra crafting time for a few! And what better way to kick off the school year than with a fun freebie from Sassy Studio Designs?! Every Friday, on Paper Craft Planet, a new 24 hour freebie is available beginning at 8am EDT.
Today's image is called Back To School Brittany, and it looks like she's ready for that first day of school photo opp. You'll be able to download this school girl cutie over on the Sassy Studio Designs PCP group until Saturday morning. There is also a new challenge up and this fortnight the theme is "School's in Session". Just use a SSD digi to create a back to school project for a special student or teacher to play along!
Using the current layout over at Fetch-A-Sketch (#31), I made a 1st day of school card. I have no intended recipient, but it was fun anyway! Brittany is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers and cut with Classic Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders. I did a bit of doodling around the edges as well.
Papers are Little Yellow Bicycle - Head of the Class and DCWV - The High School Stack. Ruler ribbon, chipboard sticker, bling, paper clips, and flowers are all from my stash. I used a notebook edge punch on the lined paper.
Be sure to stop by Paper Craft Planet to see if the rest of the Fabettes have done their homework! And we hope to see you play along with the challenge there for your chance to win two Sassy images of your choice!
Thanks for popping in! I hope everyone has a happy and safe long Labor Day weekend!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E04, R20, E34, E37, E39, BG10, W6, W8, W10) and Prismacolor Art Markers (4, 169)

dum dum da dum
Hello, my crafty friends! Ever make a card that you couldn't wait to share?! Well, THIS is one of those cards! It was an order from a co-worker for her friend's wedding. They are very good friends from college, along with a third girl, so she wanted a card that represented their friendship. She sent me a photo of the three of them to work off of and this is what I came up with.
It is a center step card (and only the second one I've ever made). There is a fabulous tutorial on splitcoaststampers on how to do this. You can find it here.
I adjusted my dimensions just a bit because I wanted it to be 7" wide. I divided the sections into 2" sides and a 3" center. I have used three fabulous Sassy Studio Designs images - Sexy Bride Sassy, Charlotte Sassy, and Miranda Sassy. All are colored with Copics and Prismacolor Artmarkers. I added lots of Crystal Stickles to the bride's dress and gave her a pretty pearl earring!
Papers are from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad called Meadowlark. The sentiment is savvystamps and was cut with a Grommet Tags die from Spellbinders and secured in place with rhinestone brads. I finished up the details with the Martha Stewart Wrought Iron border punch, a pearl swirl, and a few flowers. I was really happy with how this turned out and I heard it was a big hit with the recipient too! That is the best part about this hobby - the smiles and joy the finished products give others!
Speaking of hobbies.... I have a friend , an old high school acquaintance, who has his own woodworking shop, Molasses Hill Woodworking. After catching up on the last 20 some odd years of our lives via facebook, I commissioned him to make a holder for my Copics. I had been frustrated that you could no longer buy the white Color Cubby towers from Studio3 Solutions. I'm not the DIY type so I bought large clear storage jars at Michaels and was using those on my desk.
Well, that just wasn't working for me! I don't have a ton of markers. Yet. But I have about 80 now and I wanted them somewhere with room for the collection to grow. So Rick came to my rescue! I sent him some photos and links to blogs, even the dimensions of the Color Cubby. I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I saw progress photos on facebook and then finally the finished piece in real life (he even delivered it to me) I was ecstatic! His craftsmanship is incredible and it was worth every penny! Take a look:
Gorgeous, right? The shelves are even adjustable! Now my desk is super organized!
Thanks for stopping by today! I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:
- Challenges 4 Everybody: #1-Anything Goes
- Craft Your Days Away: #52-Anything Goes
- Di's Digi Designs Challenge: Wedding, Anniversary, Engagement

Sassy Studio Designs Little Honey Villains Blog Hop
Welcome to the Sassy Studio Designs Vicious Villains blog hop! This is our second release this month and there is plenty of wicked fun going on! All the details are below, but first let me tell you a bit about The Evil Queen...
She is the vain, jealous, insecure step-mother of the fair Snow White.
Famous Quote: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"
Dastardly Deed: Ordering her huntsman to do away with Snow White and return with her heart in a trinket box then conjuring a poison apple to do the job herself when he fails.
Claim to Fame: Her Disney incarnation is #10 on the American Film Institute's list of the 50 Best Movie Villains (making her the highest ranked animated villain).
I decided to do something a little different for my project. I thought it would be fun to use The Evil Queen as a home decor item. I found this fabulous frame at Michaels in the Halloween section. It had one of those creepy pictures that change depending on the angle you view them from. I took that out as well as the clear plastic overlay and replaced it with card stock and a sheet of designer paper from the new My Mind's Eye 6x6 Haunted pad. I added a bit of bling and my villainous sentiment. The Queen is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers, with generous amounts of Goldenrod Stickles on her crown. I also added some glossy accents to her eyes and her pendant.
Be sure to head over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog if you haven't been there. Our fabulous release crew has come up with not one, not two, but FOUR different ways for you to win Sassy prizes! Here is a summary and the complete hop order, in case you go astray during your journey.

Treasured Friend
It feels like it's been a long time since I had something crafty to share with you! It's only been four days since my last creation was posted, but I have been busy cleaning and reorganizing my desk (I'll show off my new custom made Copic holder in another post later), and I have been so eager to sit down at my craft desk every night since I received it!
Today I'm here to share today's Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday image with you! Available for 24 hours beginning at 5am PDT/8am EDT, we offer a new free image every Friday for our Paper Craft Planet group members! This week we have an aquatic cutie named Mermaid Mandy!
I started with the sketch above from Try It On Tuesday. I had purchased a K&Company paper pad called Tim Coffey Travel in the Spring and decided it was time to use it again. So much paper, so little time! *sigh* Mandy is colored with Copics and a liberal amount of Baby Blue Stickles was applied to her tail.
I fussy cut her and used foam squares to pop her up on top of the Crown Ovals Nestabilities die cut from Spellbinder. I added a pearl to each of the crown points. Some stitched ribbon, flowers, and a few punches (Martha Stewart and Fiskars) finish off the card front.
To play along with our Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge this week (#139 - What's on the Inside) I decorated the inside of my card too! This is a birthday card for a lovely friend of mine so I used a sentiment from a Gina K stamp set I have.
Please head over to our Paper Craft Planet group to see what the wonderful Fabettes have come up with using this image for our current "Slippery When Wet" challenge! And don't forget to download Mandy for your Sassy collection while you're there!
SSD has a new release this week and all the fun starts at 12:01am PDT this evening! There are some Vicious Villains waiting to make an entrance!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, E04, Y38, E13, E15, E17, E19, B00, B34, B37, B39).

The Corrosive Challenge #156 - Cute as a Button
As many of you know, I just LOVE Saturated Canary! And I ADORE Halloween! Put the two together and I'm over the moon! They're like chocolate and peanut butter! All sweet and yummy! I buy them like they're penny candy, and I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many I have amassed in less than a year! I can't help myself... Krista's darling images are cute as a button! And, appropriately enough, that is the theme of our new Corrosive Challenge this fortnight! We challenge you to create something that is "Cute as a Button"! So all you need to do to play along is use an image that is cute and include at least one button on your project. Saturated Canary is our fabulous sponsor this month as well!
My card is, of course, a Halloween card. I used Krista's cute Rags and Witches image. After I had the card all together I realized that this image is retired, but never fear! She has three other delightful witch images in her shop currently (Elphie, Fly Girl and Witchkeys) with more on the way in her release this Thursday! Paper are from last year's DCWV Midnight Spell stack. I thought the current sketch over at Mojo Monday (#254) looked fun! I have a thing for fishtail banners lately (made using my Die-namics die by My Favorite Things)! I stayed very true to the sketch, but I did add my black sparkly button to the grosgrain ribbon with some baker's twine. The sentiment is from a Waltzingmouse Stamps set called Midnight Feast. I also did a little "deconstructed doodling" on my image panel for a little something extra.
Here are a few close-ups of the details. I was playing around with my photo editing and discovered I have a "polaroid" option! So cool!
Please head over to The Corrosive Challenge to see what the rest of my amazing design team has created for this challenge, and be sure to play along for your chance to win 2 Saturated Canary digi images of your choice AND the chance to be our guest designer for October!
I am off to a day at the zoo with the small man shortly! He is so excited! Special thanks to Jasmine of Wasted Scraps for making sure things ran smoothly and the challenge was ready on time today! I had a busy weekend with a concert last night so she helped me out! I hope you have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E23, E25, E27, E33, E34, W4, W6, W8, W10, R20, R85, V06, V12, YG95, Y35, YR15, YR18) and Prismacolor Art Markers (79, 168).

Shower Scene
Where oh where has my mojo gone? I had great things planned for this week, but with each passing day it became more and more evident that my mojo was MIA! I missed one DT project all together and this one, well, she fought me the whole way! I still can't say she's my best work ever but I accomplished what I set out to do and that is enough. It hasn't helped that the only time I can craft is at night, after my son is asleep, and he has fought bed time and staying in his bed all week!
Despite a child snoozing on the couch, I managed to finish my card for today's Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday! She is called Towel Tammy, and she is available for 24 hours (beginning at 8am) on our Paper Craft Planet group!
Our new PCP challenge this fortnight is "Slippery When Wet". We want to see your projects, using any SSD image, that have a water theme to them! I decided to create a shower for my bathing beauty. She is colored with Copics and fussy cut. I then colored another towel turban, fussy cut that as well and used foam squares to pop it and give it dimension. This is our current Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge that began yesterday: #138-Pop It Up.
I used some mosaic pattered designer paper from my stash as my shower background and the added ruffled lace as my shower curtain. I also added clear adhesive Rain Dots for bubbles.
I think this is usually the part in the movie where the serial killer chases the towel clad girl, right? Hmm, maybe I've seen too many horror flicks in my time... lol Anyway, I hope you will head over to our PCP group to see what the rest of the Fabettes have created and to grab this lovely for yourself!
I am off to work shortly, but I'm already looking forward to my crafty playdate scheduled this evening! Maybe my good friend and fellow paper crafter, Jasmine, of Wasted Scraps, can help me find my mojo. It's probably hidden under one of those ever growing mountains of paper that I can never seem to find time to put away...
Have a fantastic weekend!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E04, E17, E23, E34, R20, YG03, BG10, BG15) and Prismacolor Art Markers (27, 192).

It's A Small World Part Deux: A Sassy Studio Designs Release
Today is the second part of Sassy Studio Designs It's A Small World release! We had so much fun globe-trotting last month that we decided to do it again! In addition to six fabulous new images to share with you, we have a trivia contest for you over on the Sassy Studio Designs blog! There are ten questions plus two bonus and some awesome prizes! That's pretty amazing, but this is a an extra special release post because it is also owner/artist Lindsay's birtHdAy today! entries for a mystery prize!
If you arrived here from the Sassy Studio Designs blog, you are on the right track! If not, make sure you pop over there, where you'll find the trivia questions and the complete hop order.
I am showcasing France Honey today! Elle est tres jolie! Madamoiselle France is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers. I fussy cut her and used foam squares to pop her up in the center of this week's Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #137 sketch. Kathy is a wonderful designer and when I saw this week's challenge I couldn't resist playing along!
Papers are My Mind's Eye - Paris & Co. For dies, I used Spellbinders Labels Three and Classic Circles Nestabilities as well as Die-namics Fishtail Flags Stax from My Favorite Things. My embellishments are simple: a few pearls and a couple of Tim Holtz metal corners. My sentiment is computer generated and says "Happy Birthday" in French since we were asked to put birthday wishes in our Honey's native language on the front of the card.
I hope you've enjoyed your visit to France... Now you're off to Philippines with Karen, your next stop on the It's A Small World Part Two blog hop. Grab an espresso and a croissant and settle in for your trip to exotic places with Sassy Studio Designs!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E23, E25, E27, E34, Y32, Y35, R20) and Prismacolor Artmarkers (18, 23, 96, 132, 149, 196, 210).

Hear Me Roar
August birthdays have kept me busy! Besides my own, I can count at least a dozen others that will mean co-workers, friends, or family members waiting for hand-made cards to be delivered to them! Do you have any birthdays to create for this month? If so, or if you're a Wizard of Oz fan, then you might want to head over to Sassy Studio Designs Paper Craft Planet group to download this week's Fabulous Freebie Friday image! Since it's all about birthdays this fortnight, I thought it would be fun to use the Cowardly Lion Honey image as a representation of the Leo zodiac sign. I am proud to be a Leo, and had a lot of fun making this card for a fellow Leo and crafty friend! I hope she likes it (though unfortunately she'll see it online before it arrives in her mailbox).
My layout is courtesy of The Sketchy Challenges (#29). I haven't played along over there in a while so I went to check it out and absolutely loved this lusciously layered sketch! Papers are My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose - Mabel. Other details include a Martha Stewart border punch, Stampin' Up tag punches, pearls, flowers, satin ribbon, seam binding. and a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The image is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares. I've been getting a little crazy with the fussy cutting lately! I may need an intervention! The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Who's That Birthday Girl stamp set.
Cowardly Lion Honey will be available for 24 hours starting at 8am EDT. Please head over to the SSD Paper Craft Planet group to download her and to see what the amazing Fabettes have created for the current birthday challenge using the image. We hope you'll be inspired enough to play along!
Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for the Sassy Studio Designs It's A Small World Part Two new release! My card & post are ready to go and you're going to love the six new international beauties joining the collection! The blog hop and festivities begin at 12:01am PDT on August 11th.
I am off to work shortly, but I'm already looking forward to the weekend - especially dinner tonight at my favorite restaurant with my best friend! I hope you have something fantastic planned, or maybe nothing at all if that is what makes you happy, and enjoy!

Witchy Woman
What better way to celebrate my birthday than by making a card for my favorite holiday! Tickled Pink Stamps is sponsoring Creative Inspirations this week and the theme is "ANYTHING GOES"! So of course I opted to create something Halloween!
I chose Lil Haunts Witch Lylah as my image. I remembered that I had these cool Martha Stewart Elegant Witch coasters in my crafty stash. I also happened to have the matching Elegant Witch paper mat stack! Perfect! I colored Lylah with Copics and fussy cut her (no easy feat as this image has lots of thin, delicate areas). Here is a closer look at my witchy woman:
I created a "frame" for her with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Fleur de Lis and Classic Squares. A little cheesecloth behind her gives her some definition against the busy background paper. I really went a little crazy with the embellishments, also adding pearls, flowers, a doily, and a Magnolia Doohickey die cut swirl.
But I like the look of the finished card and think the cluttered chaos works perfectly for this bewitching lady!
Please head over to the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to see what the other talented {PINK} gals have created for this challenge! Then play along yourself for your chance to win a fabulous TPS prize!
I'm off to enjoy my yummy chocolate birthday cake! Hope your day was as special as mine! Thanks for the visit and please know that all your lovely comments are always greatly appreciated!
Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, Y32, Y35, Y38, YG91, YG93, W4, W6, W8, W10).
I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- The Crazy Challenge: #126-Black, White, and 1 Other (yellow)
- Whoopsie Daisy: Die Cuts and/or Punches
