Roller Derby

I promised you a Simply B Stamps project and here it is!  SBS teamed up with The Stamping Chef to face off in a Roller Derby Challenge!  Each offered an image for free to anyone who wanted to enter their challenge.  If you requested it, you HAD to participate.  Since I wasn't sure I could commit to two projects I chose to work with Betty's Bonnie Skullbabe.  The challenge was pretty simple: use a black, hot pink, and lime green color scheme.

I colored Bonnie with Copics and fussy cut her.  The papers are Basic Grey - Sultry.  My sketch is the current Sketch N Stash (#120) with a few extra elements thrown in.  Roller Derby is a pretty rough sport from what I know of it.  Players are aggressive and competitive.  This is what inspired my sentiment and the DOA tag.  Please note that I do not condone violence and this is meant metaphorically and tongue in cheek!  The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things stamp set called Twisted Foursome and it is cut with a Grommet Tag from Spellbinders.  The tag is a drink tag from Recollections that I found with the Halloween party goods at Michaels last year.  I never used them, but I had a flash of inspiration and pulled one out, inking the name of Bonnie's nemesis, Kitty Paw Vultura, on the tag.  (I'm not sure if they misspelled "mayhem" on purpose or not!  lol)  I used a skull and crossbones border punch from Martha Stewart and added a bit of bling and some flowers.  The skull cameo is Jolee's Boutique, another Halloween purchase from last year.

Both images are fabulous and are now for sale in their respective stores.

Thanks for stopping in!

JadeDragonne

Hello!  I did a bit of crafting over the weekend using some images from the talented JadeDragonne.  If you haven't seen her work yet you should definitely go check her out on deviantART!  She draws amazing things, and gives them away for free!  I know; crazy, right?  But she does!  I needed a couple of birthday cards so I printed out Tinkerbell and Gothic Lolita to play with.

This first card features Tinkerbell.  The layout is August's sketch (#61) from Crafting Life's Pieces.  It's no secret that I love these sketches!  I love the lavish layers and decadent details (and apparently I love alliteration as well).  Here I started by coloring Tink with Copics and fussy cutting her.  I added lots of iridescent glitter to her wings too.  I then went to work on my card base.  Papers are Lemon Flower by DCWV layered with Crumb Cake and Basic Black from Stampin' Up.  I used a few dies: Labels Fifteen and Ribbon Banners from Spellbinders and Fishtail Flag Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  The outside sentiment is a rubber stamp I've had for a while from Amuse Artstamp called Magical Day.  For finishing touches, I added lots of flowers, flat back pearls, and a Martha Stewart punched border.

Next up is Gothic Lolita.  She is also colored with Copics, but this time I cut just her head and upper torso using the Classic Squares Nestabilities matted on the Fleur de Lis Squares (both from Spellbinders).  For the sentiment, I used the Ribbon Banners here as well, but this time paired with a stamp from My Favorite Things' set called Twisted Two.  Lolita (and by Lolita, I mean me) doesn't care much for punctuality and so was fashionably late with this birthday card.  The sentiment inside is also MFT (Twisted Threesome).  Once again, I finished up with flowers, bling, and a punched border courtesy of Martha Stewart.  Papers are from The Midnight Spell stack by DCWV.

The sketch is from Bearly Mine Challenges (#100) but I missed the deadline to link it up.  Fashionably late again.

Thanks for visiting and check back Wednesday for another Simply B Stamps project that is currently in progress!  I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

She's Got Brains

I was asked to be a guest designer for Love To Create Challenges and I happily accepted!  I was beyond thrilled that the sponsor for the challenge was going to be Simply B Stamps!  Challenge #80 has a Back To School theme, but with Betty's images anything could happen when the bell rings!  Like zombies.  Yup, zombies could be roaming the halls of your school.  I mean, it's SCHOOL!  What better place to look for brains than that?!?!

I've used Zombie Rio from the Zombie Teens Everyday collection.  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are from an older pad that I dug out of my stash by Lily Bee Designs called Picket Fence.  A couple of Spellbinders dies were used (Classic Oval, Classic Circles, and Lacy Ovals).  I generated the sentiment myself on the computer- a little zombie humor with a take on the saying "the mind is a terrible thing to waste".  The only other embellishments I added were flowers and flat back pearls.  The layout is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday (#220).

Hope you had an amazing weekend!

Little Everyday Triumphs

I'm good at celebrating the big things.  I make cards for birthdays, weddings, new babies....  But when it comes to life's little everyday triumphs and milestones, I don't always have the time or energy to create something, even though I may have a fabulous idea or the perfect image.  I thought it was time to make an effort to change that.  Yesterday I was able to put a smile on a co-workers face because I took some time to make a card to congratulate her on reaching one of her weight loss goals.  She's been working really hard towards it and was so excited about her achievement that I knew it deserve a special acknowledgement!

I colored up Hoping from Mo's Digital Pencil for the occasion.  She is cut out with the Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Nestabilities.  I added fishtail banners cut with the First Place Ribbon Award Die-namics by My Favorite Things as well as a Magnolia Swirl Doohickey.  Papers are Lost & Found Two: Blush from My Mind's Eye.  A few flowers complete the simple yet pretty design based on Stamp with Fun's current sketch (#220).

It's going to be a short and sweet post today; just the facts, folks.  Have a fabulous day!

Just Ducky

Another one?  Yup, I'm on a roll this week!  Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my co-worker.  She has a thing for ducks.  I immediately thought of Duck, Duck, Goose from Saturated Canary.  I colored these cuties with Copics and cut them out using my Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Two Nestabilities.  I also used my Classic Circles to cut out the sentiment (perfect, right?) from Create with TLC.  Papers are The Sweetest Thing: Tangerine by My Mind's Eye.  I added the usual - bling, flowers, metal corners - and used one of my trusty Martha Stewart border punches.  Sketch is the current Seems A Little Sketchy challenge (#46).

I can't believe how quickly this week is going by!  Summer is drawing to a close here and the kids are heading back to school.  Not mine.  Not yet.  But this time next year I will be sending him off to his first day of Kindergarten.  He has been in day care since he was six weeks old so I am used to not being with him during the day, all day, every day.  But the thought of school makes me realize just how quickly he is growing up!  He'll be celebrating another birthday soon and it seems like just the other day when I was bringing him home from the hospital.  He's morphed from baby to toddler to little boy right before my very eyes and sometimes I just want to freeze time.  Just for a bit.  I know I can't.  He won't be my little boy forever, even if he'll always be my baby, so I try to savor all the moments - big and small, treasure the memories, and look forward to what the future holds.  I take lots of pictures so that helps!  lol  Here's one from this weekend when he went minigolfing for the first time:

See, SO big!  Anyway...  off to start another day!  Thanks for visiting and hope you have a good one!

Puttin' On The Ritz

Hello!  I thought I'd share another card with you today.  This one features the Sassy Studio Designs image, Oz.  I, however, needed a tap dancer and I thought she looked the part!  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are Lost & Found Two: Blush from My Mind's Eye.

Sketch is from Digi Sketch Challenge but I won't be able to enter due to the epic fail on my handmade flowers.  I did try, but I can't seem to get the hang of rolling card stock without ripping or otherwise mangling it!  Any tips for me?  Instead I added flowers from my stash along with some bling and a metal corner.  The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things stamp set called And Then I Said.  I also used one of their Die-namics with it (mini wavy pennants).  The border punch is Martha Stewart.

I had fun with this one which was a special request!  I love being challenged and having to find that perfect image that will work!  I was up far too late again last night finishing up another card and that looks to be the way the pattern of the week is going to go.  Lots of birthdays and a guest designer card will keep me busy!

And speaking of guest designing...  I decided to throw my {top} hat in the ring for a chance to join Sassy Studio Designs in September!  You can find all the details about their GDT call HERE.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Wednesday and I thank you for popping in!

You're Not Old, You're Vintage

I have a stamp with that sentiment and it's going to be my new catch phrase for birthdays from here on out!  But in this case, she really IS Vintage, Violet Vintage from Saturated Canary!  This cutie was just begging to be colored up for a birthday card!  The cool thing is she even looks a little like the recipient!  She is colored with Copics and cut out with the Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Follow Your Heart: Be Amazing, and all I added were some flowers and half pearls.  The fabulous layout is from Sketch N Stash (#119).  The items from my stash are my flowers, particularly the lovely blue tulle one with the pearl center.  That has been kicking around for over a year but every time I attempted to add it to a project it wasn't quite right.  Until now!

I have a backlog of birthday cards waiting to be made right now!  August and September are very busy months and being the procrastinator that I am I never get a head start on the birthday rush.  So I apologize to everyone in advance for late or non-existent cards!  A girl can only do so much in a day!  And last night, after my long day at work, a little bit of couch time was needed.  I was able to catch up on a couple of DVRed shows, but rest assured that I have images printed and ready to be colored!  I am a crafter with a plan!

I hope your week is off to a fabulous start and thanks for visiting!

The Corrosive Challenge #181 - Steampunk

Hey there!  Okay, birthday week is over and I had a fabulous girls night away/beach day at the ocean last weekend so I am recharged (though a year older) and ready to go!  And go I did- right back into some serious crafting!  I've made four cards in as many days along with working and all my momma duties.  Today I have a new Corrosive Challenge to share with you, though!  We are super excited to welcome back one of our favorite sponsors: KennyKDownloads!  Sexy and funky and oh so fun!  Just like me.  *wink*

Our theme this fortnight is "Steampunk"!  I love this style, all vintage and modern at the same time.  There is something about it, Victorian elegance paired with gritty anachronistic retro-futuristic technology, that is just so cool!  Kenny K's Steampunk Burlesque collection is a perfect of example!  Kenny and Elena were kind enough to provide the team with several images to create with.  I actually already had one printed from the newest Steampunk release when I was a lucky gal and got to be one of their guest designers so I decided to color her up.  This is Savannah Belle.

She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  One of the things I love about creating Steampunk cards is that I get to pile on the embellishments, especially my beloved Tim Holtz metal goodies!  Here I have used quite the assortment: Time Pieces, Gears, Game Spinners, Corners, Trinket Pins, and the Weathered Clock die, which I sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I also added a few flowers and some bling swirls.  Papers are from a new DCWV stack, Dark Romance.  A couple of Spellbinders dies were utilized as well- Sprightly Sprockets, which I recently picked up on clearance at Joann's, and Grommet Tags.  The sentiment is from the Victorian Steampunk Sentiments by the now defunct Tickled Pink Stamps.

In case you didn't know, Kenny K has their own challenge blog too!  Check out Kenny K's Krafty Krew to see all of their stunning creations!  This week their theme is Case a Design Team member.  Be sure to visit them as well as The Corrosive Challenge blog!  We are welcoming another new design team member today so you won't want to miss it!

I was up waaay past my bedtime again so I will be relaxing with the small man today.  Definitely some crafting.  Perhaps a little crafty shopping as well.  All that and a mocha iced coffee too!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend where you are!  Thanks for stopping by!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11. E21. E23, 25, E27, E31, E33, E34, R02, BG10, YR24, Y23, Y28, YG61, YG67).

You Twilight My Life

Today is Best Friend Day!  And since my BFF has been totally Team Edward from the start, what better excuse to play with this Edward from Kenny K?  Oh, yeah, their "You Twilight My Life" Facebook contest was another one!  Edward was a generous freebie from the Kenny K Downloads Facebook page (you can like them HERE) and the only stipulation for downloading him was that you enter the contest.  We had two weeks to play along but of course I did what I do best and procrastinated.  I squeaked in just under the deadline last night!  This contest has ended but next month there will be another one with an exclusive Facebook only freebie!

I colored Edward with Copics and fussy cut him.  The papers are from the Immortal Love stack by DCWV and I really wanted the one of the woods to be a focal point.  To achieve this I cut the center out of the Fleur de Lis Square Nestabilities with a Classic Square Nestabilities (both from Spellbinders).  I also used two Fancy Tags dies as well.  I added flowers, a bit of bling, and a Stampin' Up sentiment from the Perfect Words set to finish.

It's been a pretty quiet week and I was a bit lazy early on.  I'm paying the price now as I'm off to work on not one but TWO cards tonight for tomorrow...  It's going to be a late one!  I think I'd better start the caffeine IV drip now.

Hope you are having a fabulous week and are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead!

Pool Party

Hey!  I'm back for the third day in a row with another project!  It's been pretty busy around here this week!  Sunday we attended a "super awesome" (Kayne's current favorite saying when something is cool and/or fun) birthday pool party.  The birthday boy was turning 6 and his mom rented an inflatable pool complete with water slide.  I have to say that "super awesome" absolutely did apply!  I decided to make a pool/water themed card to accompany the gift.

I picked a Simply B Stamps Teen Scene image because I never seem to get to play with my SBS images and I love them!  This is Pool Time Miller from the Teen Scene Summer collection.  I colored him with Copics and cut him out using my Classic Circles die from Spellbinders.  I then sponged some clouds behind him.  The current Simply Challenged theme is "Heavy on the Embellishments" so I went all out!  I used the Spellbinders Crown Circles die to make a "sun" and a MFT cloud die as well.  The waves are a Fiskars punch and I wrapped baker's twine around then for a little something extra.  I also added a bottle cap, a spiral clip, a sticker, a metal circle sentiment, and a few gems in the corners.  Papers are Little Yellow Bicycle - Splash.  My layout is Bearly Mine Challenge's Monthly Sketch (#97).

The birthday boy was more impressed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures and Lego set that were his present, but his mom appreciated the card!  And, as you can see, what an awesome pool party it was!  I was almost wishing I'd brought my suit...  lol  Almost.

Speaking of pools, we've also been going to Kayne's very first swimming lessons this week!  Look at my small man go!

Tomorrow is my birthday and the start of a brand new decade!  I wonder what adventures it will bring...  Birthday week has been fun so far!  Have you joined The Corrosive Challenge and Sassy Studio Designs yet for the 80s to the Max blog hop?  If not, head over to one of the blogs for all the details!  There are prizes galore and a FREE SSD digi for joining the challenge!

Thanks for visiting and hope you'll come back soon!
