The Corrosive Challenge #207 - Let's Hear It For The Boys

Labor Day weekend has arrived and left me wondering just where the heck Summer up and went to!  I can't believe tomorrow is September already!  Or that my baby boy starts Kindergarten on Tuesday!  I mean, how is that possible?  I think we are ready... Or as ready as we'll ever be.  He is excited, and I am a wreck.  Sounds about right.  lol  I'm pretty sure there will be tears (and that they will be mine).  He has asked for a strawberry pancake and bacon breakfast to kick off his big day, and I shall happily oblige.  His daddy is even joining us (bacon is hard to resist, after all).

A new Corrosive Challenge has also arrived and the theme is "Let's Hear It For The Boys".  We are sponsored by the ever adorable Meljen's Designs!  I love these darling images and find myself using them as one of my favorite go to choices more and more often.  Play along with any project created for a guy (young, old, or in between) for your chance to win 4 non colored images of choice!

Masculine projects are not really my forte, but I knew I wanted to make Kayne a card for his first day of school.  I selected Little Chalk Board to color up with my Copics.  I then used a white gel pen to write a "chalk" message.  The Kindergarten chipboard sticker is from Recollections as are the black glitter letters I used for his name.  Papers are DCWV - Grade School stack.  I added a punched border, gingham ribbon, and a banner die (Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts).

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what other creations the team has for boys to men!

Markers used: Copics (100, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59, G03, G05, G09, Y32, Y35, Y38, R35, R37, R39, R89).

Have a Koala-ty Birthday

Hi!  Things are still pretty busy here so I'm just posting a quick birthday card that I made for a friend.  She loves koala bears and when she saw this image on Facebook a while ago I knew it would be her card this year.  This cute little guy is Huggy Koala from Meljen's Designs.

He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used the Classic Circles dies as well plus a Martha Stewart border punch.  Sketch is from Sketch Saturday (#323).  I kept embellishments simple, just adding a few flowers.  Papers are DCWV - Birthday Wishes stack.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you've had a wonderful week!

Markers used: Copics (N0, N2, N4, R00, R20, R81, R83, R85, YG03).

A Birthday Selfie

Hi!  I am afraid my procrastination got the better of me this week and I did not have a card for the new Corrosive Challenge, but be sure to head over to the blog and see what the team has done with our "B" Unique theme, sponsored by Dilly Beans Stamps.

I do have a card to share tonight, though.  I loved this Mo's Digital Pencil image the moment she  appeared in the shop and I bought her instantly, already with this project in mind- a birthday card for a beautiful friend!  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  The sketch is from Mojo Monday (#358).  I was happy to use several of the My Favorite Things Die-namics I own!  The Insert It-InstaFrame was perfect for the sketch!  I also added a couple of the Cute Cameras Die-namics as well as stamping my sentiment on the Fishtail Flags Stax.  The sentiment itself is also from My Favorite Things - Who's That Birthday Girl.  Papers are DCWV - Vintage Collector.  Other embellishments include a couple of Martha Stewart punches, flowers, and metal corners.

I really had fun coloring this image!  I really need to find time to practice my flicking.  I'm a bit heavy handed, I'm afraid.  Still, I was rather pleased with her hair.

We had a pretty hectic weekend of errands (School shopping!  Eek!  When did my small man get so grown up?!) and a belated birthday dinner out with my family, but hopefully this week will be a bit calmer.

Markers used: Copics (E000, E00, E04, E11, E21, E50, E53, E57, E79, N4, N6, R20, R35, R39, R81, R83, R85, R89, BG72, B21)

Just Keep Swimming

Hi, again!  Just popping in quick to share the cards I made for Kayne's swim instructors.  He went there 4 weeks ago being a little afraid of the water and left yesterday jumping in the water, going underwater, and swimming on his own (with the assistance of a bubble still, but HUGE progress).  I wanted to thank his two teachers so I colored up a couple of images and threw together cards.

The first features Little Swimmer from Saturated Canary.  She is colored with Copics and I applied Glossy Accents to her goggles and the puddle.  Sketch is Sketch Saturday (#322) and papers are My Mind's Eye - Surf's Up and Breaking Free.  I added some Lemondrop baker's twine, flowers, and bling.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, a set called Teacher's Pet.

The next card was made using Stamps by Aurora Wings' Merbaby image.  He is colored with Copics also.

The sketch is based on Sunday Sketch & Stamp (#214).  Papers are Graphic 45 By the Sea collection.  I added Eucalyptus Stickles to his tail.  Embellishments include flowers and some Martha Stewart punches.  The sentiment is the same as the previous card and is stamped on a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (also MFT).  A sprinkling of pearl "bubbles" was the finishing touch here.

Thanks again for visiting!  Have a lovely day!

KennyK's Krafty Krew #178 - Anything Goes with a Twist: Kids

Hello!  Sorry I've been so quiet!  Vacation and an upper respiratory infection (complete with my very first bout of pink eye ever) had me busy and down for the count last week.  Things are back to normal now and small man's four weeks of swimming lessons are over as well.  We can breathe.  For a week any way before all the back to school hoopla begins!  It's his first year- Kindergarten.  And I think I'm more nervous about it all than he is!  lol  But for now we are enjoying the final weeks of Summer, complete with a bit of crafting for me!

Today I'm here to tell you about a new "Anything Goes" challenge over at KennyK's Krafty Krew.  As most of you know by now, there is always an optional twist that goes along with every new challenge.  This time it's KIDS!  This one was easy for me!  I could have made a card for Kayne but we actually needed one for a 7 year old boy whose party we were attending so it was perfect timing.  I selected Victory Kid because he looks like he's celebrating.  He's colored with Copics and cut using my Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Papers are a new pad from My Mind's Eye called Boy Crazy.  I added a wood veneer word bubble (Recollections) and a gem baubles (K&Company) plus a Martha Stewart border punch and a couple of dies.  I used the Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things and the Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts.  The sentiment is also from MFT, a set called Journal It - Playlist.  My layout was inspired by Sketch Saturday (#321).

Head over to the KennyK blog to see the Krew's makes and to play along!  Our winner will receive 3 digis of choice (5 if the optional twist is used) plus each of our Top 3 gets 1 digi each for the honor!  Remember, you MUST use a KennyK image for the challenge!  Don't have any?  Head to KennyKDownloads to go shopping (and grab this month's freebie while you're there)!

Thanks for stopping in and hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start!

Markers used: Copics (EOO, E04, E11, E21, E23, E79, N0, N2, N4, N6, R20, R32, R35, R37, R39, R89, BG10, BG72, B32, B34, B37).

Biker Girl

Hi!  Popping in quick to share a birthday card I made for an old friend.  We were actually able to get together for dinner and drinks this past weekend.  I hadn't seen her in four years and it was so fabulous to catch up!  It's wonderful to have people in your life who though time passes friendship stays right where it was!

For my card, I used my Copics to color up Biker Girl from KennyK.  She is cut using the Classic Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I selected the current sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday (#178) and kept my design simple.  The center panel is embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things and cut it using the Stars Five Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Papers are Recollections - Union Square.

I have a short work week to get through and a bit more crafting to do before my long birthday weekend off!  Thanks again for dropping by and have a wonderful day!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E13, E17, E19, E21, E23, E39, Y28, Y32, N0, N2, N4, N6, R20, R32, R35, R39, R89).

The Corrosive Challenge #205 - Birthdays

Hey there!  How goes it, crafty peeps?  Today is the start of my birthday week and what better way to kick it off than with a new Corrosive Challenge!?

We have a fabulous new sponsor lined up for you too!  We're welcoming back Sami Stamps!  Sami has generously provided the design team with images to work with and she is offering a $12 gift certificate to her STORE for our winner!

In honor of the day I was born, our challenge theme is "Birthdays".  Simply make a birthday card, any kind for anyone, and enter it for your chance to win!  I selected Whiskers Under My Broom to work with.  She is colored with Copics and cut out using the Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I found a fun challenge over at Your Next Stamp (#15) that combined a fun sketch and inspirational photo.  You could use one or the other or both.  Since it was a phot of purple cupcakes, I figured I'd use my favorite color in my creation.  Papers are Lilybeedesign - Picket Fence tiny tablet.  The sentiment is computer generated and cut using the Fishtails Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  I added ribbon, flowers, pearls, and a couple of pipe cleaners.  I have seen this embellishment used on other cards and wanted to try it.  I think maybe they are a tad too wide, but I like them anyway.

And if you've read all the way to the end you will see that I have a special birthday BLOG CANDY up for grabs!  This item is a hot commodity so you might want to enter the random drawing...  It is Issue #47 of Complete Cardmaking magazine.  Yup, this is the one with the CD that contains those coveted Saturated Canary images!!!  I happen to have an extra one and I'm giving it away to one of you!

There are just a few rules in order to be eligible:
