The Corrosive Challenge #202 - Color Me Happy

And I'm back again!  This time with a new Corrosive Challenge!  We have not one, but TWO fabulous sponsors this fortnight AND an awesome new theme that I know a lot of you are going to love!  "Color Me Happy" is the challenge for the next two weeks and we want to see your coloring skills with your favorite medium.  Break out your Copic markers, your pencils, your water colors!  Show us your colors!

Sponsor #1 is Art by Miran!  MiRan is offering a prize of 3 digis to our winner and she generously supplied images for the design team to use.  I selected Lunar Deity.  Copics are my weapon of choice, of course, and she is colored up using them.  The papers are from the Dark Romance stack by DCWV.  Sketch is courtesy of Mojo Monday (#350).  I added grosgrain ribbon, flowers, pearls, a punch butterfly (Martha Stewart), and a sentiment from a retired Stampin' Up set called Quick & Cute.   Check out Art by Miran's esty shop HERE.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, R32, Y28, Y32, Y35, Y38, V04, V06, V12, V15).

Challenges:
- Art by Miran Challenge: #8-Anything Goes

Sponsor #2 is Stamps by Aurora Wings!  Mitzi is offering a $10 gift voucher to her store for our winner and also generously provided image to the team.  I opted to work with Strawberry Sprite.  I went clean and simple with this card so that I could play along with the Facebook group challenge, but I have to tell you this is not my preferred style at all.  Every time I look at it I have to resist the urge to add STUFF!  lol  As it stands it is just my image, also colored with Copics; a Fiskars border punch; and Chit Chat word stickers from Tim Holtz to create the sentiment.  The polka dot paper is from my stash and I don't even know who makes it.  The sketch is from Clean & Simple Stamping (#296).  Shop for all the gorgeous Aurora Wings digital images at Mitzi's esty store HERE.

Markers used: Copics: (E00, E04, E11, E21, R20, R24, R27, R29, R32, R39, R89, Y23, Y32, Y35, Y38, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97).

Challenges:
- Aurora Wings Challenge: #4-No Line Coloring or Color Bingo (red, black, and pink)

I hope you'll play along!  No crafting for me today!  I am off for a day trip with the small man on this perfect Summer day!  We are headed to Edaville USA for a Day Out with Thomas!  We went last year and he had a lot of fun!  I expect it will be the same today (and I'm sure photos will follow).  Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Good Duck

Hello again!  I'm back with another quick post.  This is a card I made for a (former) coworker.  It was her "Good Bye, Good Luck" card on her last day when she left for a new job.  Or "Good Duck" as I liked to say, as she has a slight obession with ducks- rubber and otherwise.  That's why this image from JadeDragonne was perfect!  She's called Rubber Duck Pin-Up and she's colored with Copics then cut with the Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The sketch is Sketch n Stash (#141).  Classic Circle Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders) were also used.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing: Bluebell.  And as always, I added some flowers and bling from my stash to make it pretty!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, Y32, Y35, Y38, BG10, BG72, YR04, YR24, R32).

Dad

Hi!  Sorry I've been quiet this week.  It was a busy one and a spur of the moment trip to the drive-in movie theater cut into my crafty/blogging time (but was SO worth it).  It was my small man's first time and at 4-1/2 I was a little concerned about how he'd do.  The first movie started after his normal bed time, after all.  But not only did he make it through BOTH movies but he was charming company the entire time!  I'll share some photos at the end of the post, but for now, back to the card.  It was made for my son's dad.  Since they went to the carnival this Spring I selected Carnival Dad from KennyK to color up.  He is colored using Copics.  Papers are Basic Grey - Hey Boy.  I used a sketch from Digi Sketch Challenge and they had an optional For the Men theme.  The letters that spell "dad" are cut using the By The Letters alphabet Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  The sentiment is from one of those $1 Studio G sets and is cut with Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).

And my little guy even wrote in the card himself this year!  So cute!  He also painted a rock for his dad that read "Daddy Rocks" (with a little help from Mommy).  Pinterest is a lifesaver for these kinds of things!

Thanks for stopping in.  I'll be back with another post today as well as a new Corrosive Challenge tomorrow!  I'll leave you with those drive in photos that will make you nostalgic for your own childhood!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E13, E17, E19, E21, E23, E25, E31, E33, E34, R20, R81, R85, YG11, YG91, YG93, Y23, Y28, Y32, N0, N2, N4, N6, BG10, BG72).

My Boy

Hello!  Another week is kicking off here now, but I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  We had a wonderful one full of family and celebrating my dad for Father's Day.  I used my custom image from Saturated Canary to make a card for him.  This is My Boy and Krista drew it for me as a prize from a contest she had a while back.  She captured my small man to a "T", right down to his favorite blankie and Teddy!  I colored the image with Copics and then cut it using Labels Seventeen Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and added some Shabby Blue Frantage.  I used one of the Fancy Tags dies (Spellbinders) behind the image.  Papers are My  Mind's Eye - Lost & Found: Portobello Road.  The current Sweet Sketch Wednesday (HERE) is my base and I added a few elements like the Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts and the sentiment from a Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments Father's Day Centers set that was in my physical stamps stash.  I finished up with gold metal brads from Tim Holtz and a length of blue gingham ribbon.

And, here is the inspiration for the image:

We took my dad out to breakfast with one of my brothers (who actually paid for us all!  Thanks, Jay!) and then spent the rest of the day at my parents'.  Kayne made his papa a special gift and I snapped a photo of the two of them.  He painted the rock himself and was very proud of his handiwork.  The gift was a big hit!

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful dad and it makes me so happy to see the great memories he's building with the next generation too!  Thanks for stopping by and check back for another Father' day card to be blogged before the week is out.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E39, E79, N0, N2, N4, N6, R20, R32, R35, Y61, B00, B32, N34, B37, BV000, BV02, BV13).

Hi and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!  Welcome to another KennyK's Krafty Krew Challenge!  "Brown" is our theme.  It was a bit of a challenge for me as it's so NOT my color!  lol  I started with one of the fab new clear stamps from KennyK!

This one is Queens Cutie.  She comes with some cute accessories and sentiments too!  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I used sketch #222 from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge as my layout.  Papers are DCWV - The Naturals Stack.  I used the sentiment from the set as well.  It is cut using Labels Twenty-One Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used the Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Lovely View die (Spellbinders) and Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  Then I embellished with some flowers and a bling flourish.

Head over to the KennyK's Krafty Krew blog and check out the brown inspiration from Team B{iker Girl} then play along  for your chance to win!  Our random winner gets 3 digis of choice (5 if you use the optional twist in your project) and each of our Top 3 picks will receive 1 digi each for the honor!

Queen of Snark

Last week I was crowned Queen of Snark over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.  And for the honor, I was asked to be a guest designer for their next challenge!  So here I am to tell you about Challenge #10 - G is for Glitter!

I choose to work with Polly from The Stamping Chef.  My crafty friend Rebecca and her family of feathered friends are the inspiration behind this image.  It only stands to reason then that I had to use it to make a card for her!  Her birthday was at the end of last month and I'm running a little behind on birthday cards, but hopefully she'll forgive me.  Polly is colored with Copics.  Her tank top and the stars on her stockings are covered with Orange Peel Stickles.  I added flowers, bling flourishes, and a pink feather.  The sentiment, from a Stampin' Up set called Just Beakause, was cut using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The papers are Basic Grey - Lime Rickey.

Everything is better with glitter!  Well, maybe not everything, but 99% anyway!  Won't you join the fun?  Perhaps you'll sparkle and shine enough to be crowned the next Queen of Snark (or, at the very least, a princess)!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E34, E37, E39, R32, R81, R85, RV63, RV66, N0, N2, N4, N6, YG03, YG06, YG11, YG13, BG10, BG72, YR00, YR02, YR15, Y32, Y35).

- Fussy and Fancy: #116-Things with Wings
- Graph'It Coloring Crazy Challenge: Wk 24-Blondie

30 Is The New 20

Hey there!  How was everyone's week?  I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to the weekend!  I have to squeeze in a lot of crafting time between now and Sunday, which is Father's Day here.  I'm headed to the craft desk now as a matter of fact, but first I wanted to share a card I made for my co-worker's birthday.  He turned 30 and I was like "nu-uh, no way!" He looks a decade younger (or maybe my perception is off because I'm a decade older)!  Anyhoo...

I just loved J-Cool from Kenny K for this occasion!  I colored him with Copics and added glaze to his glasses.  He is cut and matted with Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used my Classic Circles Nestabilities and embossed it with a brick textured folder.  The city scape (Skyline Border) and numbers (By the Numbers) are both Die-namics dies from My Favorite Things.  The corner is Sizzlits Photo Corners 2 die.  Papers are Basic Grey - Wanderer.  The sketch I've used is Sketchy Colors (#214).

I usually struggle a bit with masculine cards but this one came together pretty easily!  And I actually like how it turned out!  Check back over the weekend to see what other crafty shenanigans I've been up to!

Markers used: Copics (E04, E15, E17, E19, E25, E27, E31, E33, E34, E70, E74, E79, R89, N0, N2, N4, BG70, BG72, Y28, YG61, YG67).

- As You Like It Challenge: Favorite Embossing Technique and Why (dry embossing for the quick and easy texture it adds)

She's So Pretty

Hi! I'm just popping in with a quick share of a card I made for a co-worker's daughter.  For her 12th birthday she requested a hair and nail party so naturally I thought of So Pretty from The Paper Shelter.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I cut a frame for her using Floral Ovals and Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and popped it up on foam squares.  Papers are DCWV - Vintage Collector.  I added flowers, Tim Holtz film strip and memo pin, and the Magnolia View Master Doohickey die.  The nail polish bottle is from a My Favorite Things stamp set called Girls Day In.  The sentiment was a freebie from Create with TLC and is cut with a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things.

I finally have a clean craft desk again so I'm hoping to spend some time there this week.  Check back to see what I've been up to!

The Corrosive Challenge #201 - Crop It or Cut It

Hey there!  How has your weekend been so far?  Mine has been pretty perfect: sunny and 80, a long walk with the small man, old movie night with him at my parents' (we like to watch Abbott & Costello comedies- especially the "scary" ones), a little coloring and crafting, and now a bit of blogging.  Bliss.  I'm here to tell you about a new Corrosive Challenge!  We had a blast celebrating our 200th challenge and I was overwhelmed by the response to the blog hop and challenge!  You guys rock!  Anyway, this fortnight we are welcoming Lacy Sunshine!  Heather Valentin's images are so cute I just want to squish their cheeks!  You can read all about Heather HERE and check out the Lacy Sunshine shop HERE.  They also have a challenge blog, a Facebook group AND they just premiered their very own online digital magazine on June 1st!  Check out the yearly and quarterly subscriptions HERE!

Lacy Sunshine is offering 3 digis to our winner and each of the design team members were allowed to select an image to create with!  I choose Curly Sue Lioness.  Must be the Leo in me!

The theme for the challenge is "Crop It or Cut It"!  That means you have to crop or cut your image somehow.  I did both.  After coloring her with Copics, I used a Classic Circles Nestabilities die (Spellbinders) to crop her and then fussy cut the rest of her cape so I could create an "out of the box" effect.

I have a hard time cropping an image after I've colored it so maybe I should have done that first, but I took a deep breath and headed for the Cuttlebug.  Once I had my image, papers (My Mind's Eye - Stella and Rose: Hattie), and layout (Tuesday Morning Sketches #252) selected I was ready to embellish my little heart out!  I added a few die cuts: Magnolia Doohickeys Castle, Cheery Lynn Designs French Pastry, and La-La-Land Crafts Hearts Banner.  There is a Martha Stewart border punch under there somewhere.  I added a bunch of bling and flowers.  And I distressed my Crumb Cake (kraft) card stock something terrible!  I also sprinkled some Shabby White Fran-tage embossing enamel on the castle.  There's also a touch of Golden Rod Stickles on her crown.  Finally I popped on a metal crown charm and a Studio G (Hampton Arts) sentiment.  I originally didn't include the sentiment but on the advice of my crafty friends, Rebecca and Robin, I added one.  I have to say I think it makes the card!  Thanks, gals!

Visit The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what cropped up from the rest of the team!  And if you like to crop or fussy cut your images, this is your challenge!  Hope to see you play along!

I'm hoping for perfect day #2 here.  I have some baking and more crafting to do.  I'm going to try out a recipe for spaghetti squash for dinner.  But before that I'm hoping to soak up some more sunshine and fresh air with Kayne!  Enjoy your day!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E79, Y28, YR15, BG10, BG72, R20, R32, B32, B34, B37, B39).
