Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #66 - Fancy Folds

Welcome to another edition of Dare To Be Sassy Thursday! The week is almost over, and I'm looking forward to the weekend. I'm feeling a bit stressed this week - busy at work since it's the end of the month and still lots of crafting to catch up on at home. Plus they are predicting SNOW here tomorrow, and it could be a big one, as in a foot plus! I thought Spring had officially started, but I guess Mother Nature hasn't gotten the memo yet.

It makes one start dreaming of a tropical vacation somewhere... And I think it influenced my card! lol DTBST Challenge #66 calls for Fancy Folds (anything other than your standard fold). I chose to do a stair step card. This is my first attempt at one, and I have to say I am pretty pleased with the outcome. It was a lot of work, but the effort is worth it! Little Mermaid Honey from Sassy Studio Designs is the focal point of my creation.

I have to run and start my day, but I'll be back soon! Thanks for looking, and your lovely comments are always appreciated!

Tickled Pink Challenge #12 - One for the Lads

All the men in my immediate family are computer guys. My dad and my two brothers are what I like to call technologically gifted (as opposed to technologically challenged, which is what I am! lol). They either indulge in it as a hobby, do it for a living, or are about to graduate from college with a degree in it. So that is why I used Lil Lad Eric for Challenge #12 - One for the Lads over at Tickled Pink Stamps. This will most likely be a birthday card for one of my brothers. I used sketch #211 from Card Positioning Systems to get me started. Designer paper from the Generation Tech stack by DCWV and some keys pried off an old keyboard help give my card the geeky chic look I was going for.

I also participated in the corner bookmark challenge that Tickled Pink Stamps owner, Kellie, threw out on her facebook group. I used the tutorial found on splitcoaststampers to create a page saver any vampire fiction lover would enjoy! Lil Lad Lestat was chosen to adorn my project. He technically also qualifies for the One for the Lads challenge too, but it was time for the nerds to have the spotlight today! lol Mr. Dark, Brooding, and Mysterious will just have to settle for runner up this time! lol

I have two more cards to complete tonight so I'll try to edit the post later with the card supplies used. Be sure to check back to see what else I'm up to...

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #65 - Bloomin' Beautiful

Hello! I am just popping on for a quick post to share this card with you... This one was a real challenge, let me tell you! I made it for the sketch challenge #50 over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp, which is being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs, as well as for SSD's Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #65 - Bloomin' Beautiful. The flower part was easy, the sketch - not so much! I did manage to incorporate the most recent freebie from Sassy Studio Designs, though! Isn't she sweet? She's called Cute Teen Cameo. If you'd like to snag a new freebie every Friday, join us at the SSD group here on Paper Craft Planet. After I put the card together I had the brainstorm that I should have embossed every other panel to give it some texture, but it was too late by then so it is what it is, folks! lol I hope you like it anyway.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Monday and hope your week is off to a fabulous beginning!

The Corrosive Challenge #109 - Stars In My Eyes

Sunday means a new Corrosive Challenge and this week we have stars in our eyes! Challenge #109 is to use stars somewhere on your creation. I decided to use an image from this month's sponsor, Digi's with Attitude. She's called Shopping Tween from their Tweens with 'Tude collection, and she is freebie that can be found here. She even has a star on one of her shopping bags so she was perfect for this challenge! I used some star designer paper by Creative Imaginations, the Cuttlebug Stars embossing folder, and my Star Nestabilities to add lots of star elements to my card. My layout is based on sketch #147 over at Friday Sketchers.

I grabbed a few more Copic markers yesterday, and I continue to practice with them. I am determined to be able to master this medium! lol

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday planned! I am off to get my daily dose of caffeine, and I believe there is a 50% off coupon for the craft stores this week. The small man and I may have to head out to make the rounds. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Tickled Pink Challenge #10 - Off The Scrap Desk

c

I wanted so badly to play along with Tickled Pink Stamps c
hallenge this week, and I just haven't had time. Well, as I watched the hours tick by today and the deadline for submissions draw closer, I grew more and more determined that I was going to get a card done tonight after I got my son settled for the evening!

We came straight home after I picked him up from day care. Dinner and bath time were done quickly and efficiently. I started prepping while he was playing. Sketch? Check. Image? Check. Papers? Check. Embellishments? Check. As soon as he was in his crib, happily sucking his thumb, I was seated at my desk and working like a mad woman! I have to say that I am quite pleased with the result! Apparently I work well under pressure... THAT must be why I procrastinate all the time! lol

TPS Challenge #11 (I know my title says #10 - Oops, darn autofill!) called for us to use something Off The Scrap Desk. In other words, items not intended for use in card making. I chose a beautiful purple barrette and some pearl topped bobby pins that I found at the dollar store. For my layout I opted for Sketch 107 from Card Patterns.

I can now go to bed feeling fulfilled and accomplished! Haha! I can't wait to see the next challenge that TPS has in store for us... I am loving them!

Thanks for stopping by and hope everyone is having a fabulous week! If you like my creation, please take a moment to leave me a comment... I value them immensely!

365 Cards - ABCs of Crafting: DEF

And I'm back with more ABCs of Crafting and Day 22 of 365 Cards, being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs! Today our letters of the day are DEF...as in Distressing, Envelope, and Fringe. I opted to use the 365 Card sketch from Day 20 as well. My image is Tinkerbell Honey from Sassy Studio Designs' Fairytale Collection, but I had this idea to make her into the Tooth Fairy for my card. I distressed the edges of my Kraft card stock layer as well as the tag with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I also gave the Kraft card stock a crumpled and ripped look. That took care of the distressing. My envelope was clear so I decorated it with designer paper and pearls before adhering it to my tag. The fringe is from Joann Fabrics, and is so fun and colorful!

I glittered Tink's wings and added a few other embellishments for the finished
product you see here. My sentiment is computer generated and mounted on one of the Fancy Tag dies. This card was one where once I got started my crafting mojo really just took over, and then when it was done I was really pleased with the results! I hope you like it as well and will leave me a lovely comment if you do. Thanks for coming back to take a peek.

Card Supplies

365 Cards - ABCs of Crafting: ABC

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring 365 Cards this week and it's the ABCs of Crafting! Today, Day 21, we're focusing on A, B, and C... as in Alphabet (letter stickers or stamps); Blue; and Circles. For my card I chose the Pocahontas image from SSD. Though you can't see it very well in the photo, the small circle contains gold glitter letter stickers that spell "Love". The blue comes in the form of sponged clouds behind my image. And an old sketch (#146) from Sketch Saturday that I had seen and liked, but didn't have the chance to play along with at the time provides the circles. Though I think my favorite part of the whole card is that faux suede fringe... . I got a little ahead of myself and used a requirement for tomorrow's challenge on this card! lol So check back to see what fun elements DEF calls for!

Card Supplies
Images: Pocahontas (Sassy Studio Designs)
Ink: printer; Baja Breeze (Stampin' Up); Copics (R02, R20, YG95, E04, E11, E13, E15, E25, E33); Prismacolor Art Markers (169)
Paper: Baroque Burgundy, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, and Summer Sun card stock (Stampin' Up); white card stock (Georgia Pacific); Heidi Grace Designs Harvest Row/Mono Floral and Harvest/Harvest Stripe designer paper (Fiskars)
Accessories: Classic Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); gold diva shimmer alpha stickers (Making Memories); faux suede fringe (unknown); buttons (unknown); cloud template; sponge dauber; white wax thread; glue dots; 3D dots

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #64 - Handmade Embellishments

Good evening, and I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Though I still have four birthday cards to catch up on, I did manage to make a design team card this afternoon while my son was down for his nap. My image is a freebie from Sassy Studio Designs, called Bunny Cameo. She is no longer available, but if you are interested in snagging a complimentary image once a week, simply join the SSD group here on Paper Craft Planet. Every Friday there is a new image available for 24 hours, gratis. There is also a bi-weekly challenge there as well where you can win MORE free images of your choice! One just began on Friday with a Spring Has Sprung theme. You are required to use a Sassy Studio Designs image for the PCP challenge, and you receive a bonus entry for the prize if you use that week's freebie.

I also created this card for Sassy Studio Designs'

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge #64 - Handmade Embellishments. I made the rolled roses using a Die-namics die from My Favorite Things. The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch and the "vines" are made of teal colored wire.

This was my first attempt with the rolled roses, and I think with some practice it will be an embellishment I love using! It's great for me since I am a bit of a stickler for color matching when it comes to papers and accessories.

My layout is Sketch #147 from Sketch Saturday. I would also like to enter the following challenges with this card:

Thanks for looking! I hope to be back in my crafting groove this week so check back to see what else I've been up to... Happy Spring, everyone!

The Corrosive Challenge #108 - Recipe Time

Happy Sunday! I have to say that I'm glad a new week is upon us! Last week was kind of rough... First, the time change kicked my butt. Then my son was sick. Between those two things, my sleep patterns were all wonky, and I spent the entire week exhausted and in a funk. Even my crafting mojo was out of whack! I am trying to recover and redeem myself, but I have some lost ground to make up for! I only completed three cards last week so there's some birthday card catch-up to do!

But first, is another Corrosive Challenge, and it's Recipe Time with Challenge #108! Here are the ingredients:

  • 3 designer papers
  • 2 ribbons
  • 1 image

I was asked by my mom to make a baby card for an acquaintance of ours. I happily obliged because I needed a reason to justify buying this adorable image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Baby and Bunny! I colored my image using my Copics and Prismcolors. I went to the art supply store today and bought a few more Copics then came home & ordered more online. I am obviously hooked, but the vast array of colors available is overwhelming! Oh, well... a new collection to work at. Three patterned papers from Cloud9Design, a piece of lace ribbon, and a piece gingham ribbon complete my recipe. The sentiment is from a set called Baby Bump by My Favorite Things.
I used this week's sketch from The Sweet Stop as my layout. It's their 100th sketch so they are offering up some fun prizes.

I hope everyone has something fabulous planned for their Sunday! I am meeting my dad for brunch with my son. He is a regular at this mom & pop breakfast joint and like the proud papa he is, he likes to show off his grandson every once in a while. Then I'm hoping to do some crafting! Wish me luck! lol

Thanks for checking in and feel free to leave a comment if you like what you see. I do love reading them!

Card Supplies
Images: Baby and Bunny (Mo's Digital Pencil); Baby Bump (My Favorite Things)
Ink: printer; Mauve Mist (Stampin' Up); Copics (W10, W8, W6, E11, E04, R20, R02); Prismacolor Art Markers (197, 192)
Papers: Mauve Mist, Baroque Burgundy, and Certainly Celery card stock (Stampin' Up); white card stock (Georgia Pacific); Baby Girl Collection - Bouncing Baby Girl and Baby Girl Stripe designer paper (Cloud9Design)
Accessories: Doily Lace border punch (Martha Stewart); pink gingham ribbon (Stampin' Up); lace (Offray); pearl flourish and flowers (Recollections); glue dots, 3D dots

Tickled Pink Challenge #10 - Black, White Plus One Colour...

...WITH a guest design call!!! I have fallen in love with Tickled Pink Stamps! I was delighted to be the winner of last week's challenge with my Lil Allsorts Pirate Frankie card! I was also picked for a prize on their new release blog hop! If I wasn't already completely hooked, I am now! lol So you can imagine my excitement to see that they were looking to fill a guest designer spot! They have so many creative ladies on their team already, it's a tad intimidating! Plus I've seen the entries thus far, and I'm up against some pretty stiff competition! It may be a long shot with all that {Pink} talent out there, but I had to try!

For my card I chose Lil Birthday Kellita. She is just fabulous and was designed by artist Christina Dee for TPS's 1st birthday! TPS Challenge #10 was to use black and white with one other color. I selected purple since it's my favorite and is also a fave of the card's intended recipient. I have a party to attend in honor of a 21st birthday, and this challenge inspired me to make her card almost 3 weeks early! (Those of you who know me or follow my blog know this is a big deal as I am a die-hard procrastinator! lol) It was hard to keep it to only those three colors, but I managed to with the exception of my image itself. I found the charming ticket sentiment on mudmaven designs' blog. You can download them and her other digital freebies for yourself here. My layout is based on Sketch #145 from Friday Sketchers.

I had a slow start to the week, craft-wise. The small man and I have not been sleeping well due to his cough, but he seems to be on the mend so I hope to get a few more cards made before the weekend arrives. I hope you'll check back! Thanks for stopping by and please let me know you were here with a comment!

The Corrosive Challenge #107 - Sketch Time

Welcome to another Corrosive Challenge Sunday! I am going to need an extra infusion of coffee to get me through the day, though, since we "lost" an hour of sleep due to Daylight Savings Time (DST). I think my son has croup again so I'm not sure how well we'll be sleeping anyway. Besides, toddlers don't abide by time changes... they follow their own schedules, paying no mind to what the clock says! lol

So on to Challenge #107! It's a sketch challenge! Woo hoo! And since we all know how I feel about those, I was very excited to play with my new image from this month's sponsor, Digis with Attitude! She is called Vacuum Tween, and she is from their Tweens with 'Tude collection. The cleaning products are from the now defunct Hanna Stamps set Domestic Goddess. I haven't used any of my Hannas in a while, but they were perfect for this card so I dug them out. I used my new Copics to color her skin and hair, but the rest was still my Prismacolors. I liked the way the Copics blended and I think with some practice I will love them and be hopelessly hooked...

The sketch was a blast to play with! I love that you can see so much of my designer paper in the background. If you want to join in the fun, just link you creation here. Remember that to qualify for the monthly prize you must participate in all challenges for the month.

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment so I know I'm not just talking to myself over here! lol

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #94

Hello again! What a busy day this has been! I made two cards, participated in two party blogs, went on two blog hops, and wrote three blog posts! It has been an eventful day full of my favorite things - my son, shopping, and card making! I finally gave in to temptation and purchased a few Copic markers! I got mostly skin tone colors to start, but now I'm wishing I had some for hair as well. No, what I'm really wishing is I'll have a sudden windfall of cash so I can buy all 346 colors at once! Haha! A girl can dream, right?

Anywho... I love the Midnight Madness sketches so when I can I try to play along. Despite the crazy week I've had, I did manage to participate this week. Though you're not required to use a priscillastyles image in order to play along, I did. And why wouldn't you? They are such a value for the price! I received six different version of this Bulldog image with my purchase!

I wasn't sure at first that I was going to be able to coordinate MMSC94 to work with this image, but it just came together and I really like the way it turned out. The fun designer paper is a new stack from DCWV. The bling is Prima and the buttons are Stampin' Up to match my card stock. I'm not sure any self-respecting bulldog would wear a party hat... But, in this case, it just had to be done! It IS a birthday card after all!

Thanks for looking, and for all your much appreciated comments!

Card Supplies
Images: Bulldog (priscillastyles); Let's Party (Stampin' Up)
Ink: printer; Ruby Red (Stampin' Up); Prismacolor Art Markers (207, 12, 11, 201, 70, 78)

Accessories: Classic and Scalloped Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Black Corner Say it in Crystals self-adhesive embellishment (Prima); Earth Elements buttons (Stampin' Up); wax thread; glue dots; 3D dots

CardPatterns Sketch 105

Happy Friday to all! I was able to make 3 cards over two nights this week, but I'm afraid I'm still behind on my deadlines! I have to figure out how to get another design team card done before 3am with work and dinner & drinks with my best friend taking up most of my day and evening... I'm sure I'll figure something out. Oh, how I wish they didn't frown on me stamping at work! lol

This card is a special request from my co-worker for her mother's 85th birthday. I was told she likes pansies so I found an image online to use since I didn't have any suitable stamps. The layout is courtesy of Card Patterns. Check out their blog to see the fabulous samples for Sketch 105 from their design team... It was what inspired me to play along!

Thanks for looking and don't forget to check back tomorrow for all the details on the Sassy Studio Designs new release!

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #63 - Being Green

It's Thursday and you know what that means.... Another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday over at Sassy Studio Designs! I have been a tad negligent with my design team duties this week due to the loss of my beloved cat on Monday. I was by her side in the end and that's of some comfort. Though Loki's absence is painfully felt, I have 2 other fur babies and my son, of course, to keep the smiles coming! Because that's what life is all about anyway, isn't it? :)

The challenge for DTBST #63 - Being Green is to use something recycled on your project. I opted for an empty Godiva chocolates box like the one pictured below. I received the yummy confections for Valentine's Day and happened to save the empty box after the last of them had been enjoyed. I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for, but I knew there would be something!

Did you also notice my fabulous image?! This is a sneak peek of one of the new images from the upcoming SSD release this weekend! It's Megara, the sassy, smart-mouthed heroine from the animated Hercules! I love mythology so this was a fun image for me to work with! I used Sketch #144 from Friday Sketchers as the layout of my easel card front. For embellishments, I added sequin trim, some pearl flourishes I found on clearance recently, the mini roses I love so much these days, and a computer generated sentiment containing a quote of Meg's from the movie.

We all have items laying around our homes that we can put to use in our creations... Take a look and see what inspires you. And once you have finished, link it here to play along with SSD for a chance to win some images of your choice!

I have a busy couple of days ahead of me, and crafting will be a big part of that so be sure to check back! Thanks for stopping by!

Tickled Pink Challenge #9 - Sewing

It has been a rough weekend for me, and I was not as productive as I had hoped... My cat Loki, who is almost 16 years old, became very sick suddenly, and I'm afraid that when she goes to the vet later today, she will most likely not be coming home with me. I am heartbroken, as she was my first pet as an adult living on my own and has been like a kid with fur to me all this time. I just don't have the financial means to prolong her life, if it's even an option. I will be sad to say good-bye, but I take comfort in knowing she lived a long, happy life. She was well cared for and loved. She will be missed...

I'm sorry to start my post off on such a sad note, but it was on my mind, and I wanted to pay her tribute. To take my mind off things, I made a card in between caring for her and my son today. I have been wanting to enter another Tickled Pink Stamps challenge, but haven't had time with my design team duties. Today I decided it was a good day to do something I wanted to do rather than had to. This card is being entered in TPS challenge #9 - Sewing, but it was originally intended to be for TPS challenge #8 which was Tags. So I adapted and incorporated both. I'm new to the sewing machine, as you can see, so I only added one crooked line of zigzag stitching at the top, but hey, I tried! lol

I used one of Tickled Pink Stamps' fabulous digis.... He is called Lil AllSorts Pirate Frankie and is available here. Last week's Friday Sketchers sketch #143 (which incidentally was sponsored by Tickled Pink Stamps) provided my layout. My background consists of some Halloween designer paper that has screamed "Pirate" at me since I bought it last Fall and a pre-colored digi treasure map paper from TiddlyInks. I did a bit of ink distressing to my tag, the lace, my circle sentiment (a digi freebie from Cindy Close at Bluebirdflats), and the treasure map (which I cut with my large deckle scissors first).

Thanks for looking, and hopefully I can get back on track for the week because Sassy Studio Designs has a new release happening this weekend! This means I have fabulous new images to play with, and I want to get some sneak peeks out to you!

Loki, you will always be in my heart!

The Corrosive Challenge #106 - Going Green!!!

It's Sunday and that means it's time for another Corrosive Challenge! This week challenge #106 has everybody Going Green! Your card can be St. Patty's Day themed, or not, but it must feature the color green. Whether your preference is emerald, lime, olive, chartreuse, or viridian we want to see it! Play along for a chance to win a wonderful prize pack at the end of the month! Everyone who enters any of the challenges in March is eligible. And our sponsor this month - Digis with Attitude - has generously provided a $10 gift certificate to spend on their digital images as part of that prize pack! Check out the complete details here.

This is my official start date on The Corrosive Challenge's design team, and I hope I've made them proud! I chose a Kenny K image called Cheers Dude for my card and paired it with the Kenny K's Krafty Girlz challenge #34 (which is the fabulous sketch you see above). The designer papers were a score I found on clearance at Michaels. My image was colored using Prismacolor Art Markers. Since it is so close to St. Patrick's Day, I decide I had no choice but to make the beer in his mug green!

I have a busy crafting week ahead so stay tuned for more posts... I will have fun and fabulous creations to share with you! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

The color green will be everywhere, including your crafting challenges, and possibly our beer! lol And that is exactly what DTBST # 62 is all about - The Color Green! I'm not Irish, but I think everyone is a "wee" bit on this holiday so I decided to have some fun and make a St. Patrick's Day themed card. Sassy Sponsorship: The Crazy Challenge - Here Comes Spring

Good morning, fellow crafters! I am in need of a vat of coffee, stat! My son had a rough night, and as a result, I didn't get much sleep. There is nothing more frustrating as a mother than a crying child who can't tell you what is wrong. I tried all the usual suspects - diaper change, drink, food, and cuddling, and though each would work for a time, the moment I put him back in his crib so I could get some rest, the screaming would start again. Someone suggested he might have an ear infection, but he has no history and wasn't tugging at his ears at all. I finally was forced to let him cry it out, and he quieted down and drifted off to sleep. But at that point it was 4am. My alarm goes off at 6am. Needless to say, I hit snooze and ignored the world for an extra hour. lol But here I am with a quick blog post before I get my day started. Though I may need a disclaimer today to prepare my unsuspecting co-workers.... Warning: Approach with Caution - Sleep Deprived Mom - WILL Be Cranky!!! lol

This week Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring The Crazy Challenge! The theme for CCH #56 is Here Comes Spring! I have used the SSD digi image Chelsea with Chicks for my card. I paired her with the fabulous layout from Sketch Saturday #144
. I flipped the sketch to accommodate my image, but kept all the elements.

This was a lot of fun to do because I am dreaming of Spring, and after the icy precipitation we got yesterday, it can't come soon enough! So if you have Spring Fever like me, be sure to play along with SSD as we sponsor the Crazy Challenge this week! Just link your creation here before Sunday, March 6th for a chance to win some Sassy Studio Designs images of your choice!

Thanks for looking, and now if you'll excuse me, I must caffeinate.....
