Grow Love

Hello!  How is everyone out in blogland?  I just wanted to share a couple of cards I made featuring some of Mo's Digital Pencil images.

I was asked to make an anniversary card for a couple who share a love of gardening.  I colored up Sadie and Gardener Guy with my Copics for the occasion.  Sadie is cut with Resplendent Rectangles (Spellbinders) and her mate is fussy cut and popped up on foam squares for dimension.  I loaded up on the La-La-Land Crafts dies once again!  Here I've used Heart Header Border, Open Hearts Doily Border, Heart Doily Border, Heart Doily, and Wrought Iron Fence.  The numbers are a My Favorite Things Stamps Die-namics and the small heart and the branches are Martha Stewart punches.

Next was a birthday card for someone who enjoys golfing.  Big Guy Golfer was the perfect fit!  He is colored with Copics also and cut using Labels Two Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Lattice Border (La-La-Land Crafts) grace the sides and the grass is a Martha Stewart border punch.

I've entered over at Mo's Digital Challenge #264.  It's been a while since I've joined in on any blog challenges and I thought I'd play along.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far!

La-La-Land Love

Hi!  If you've been following for any amount of time you know I have a La-La-Land Crafts die obsession!  I LOVE them! Want them!  NEED them!  Lol  I use at least one on almost every card I make.  I adore their images too, but for some reason they don't seem to make it into my crafting quite as often.  But today I have two cards to share with you featuring too cute for words Luka!

My first card was made as a thank you for my friend who converted a salvaged fireplace mantle into a freestanding piece for me.  I live in an apartment, but love the cozy ambience a fireplace gives.  Since a real one isn't an option, I decided faux was the way to go!  As you can see, he rose to the challenge and exceeded all expectations!

I colored Luka with Birdhouse with Copics for his card.  I then fussy cut the image and used foam squares for dimension when mounting him on top of the Stitched Squares Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  I also used a couple of LLLC dies as well: Tool Border and Tabs Border.  To keep with the theme I added a few screw brads and a length of measuring tape ribbon.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

My next card was made for a coworker and his wife when they welcomed their new baby boy!

Here I also colored with Copics and fussy cut.  This time I utilized quite a few La-La-Land Crafts dies.  I included Filigree Border, Filigree Moon, Filigree Stars, Baby Clothesline, Open Leaf Flourish, and Rocking Horse.  The Star Cluster border is from Tim Holtz (Sizzix) and the banner for the sentiment is cut with Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  I just added a few flowers for the finishing touch.

I really need to color up these cuties more often!

A Joint Venture

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially mine!  As usual, I waited until the last minute to make a card for the occasion.  As I rushed around today wondering how I was going to get everything done before we left for the family cookout at my brother's, Kayne offered me the perfect solution: "Mom.  Can I color the picture for Papa's card?"  What could be more special than something colored by your grandson and crafted into a card by your daughter, right?  So we created together and I love the result!

Kayne picked the image from among some Saturated Canary digis I had printed for him to color.  He selected Joey.  I don't think my dad is particularly fond of soccer, but it was the little man's choice and we went with it!  He used his Crayola markers and crayons to color him.  (He asked to use my Copics but mommy said "no"!  Lol)  I thought he did an awesome job!

I designed the rest of the card, with a little help from Kayne.  He wanted me to use the alphabet dies (My Favorite Things) to spell out "Papa" which is what he calls my dad.  I cut the image using Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used a few other dies: Stars Five Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Star Cluster (Tim Holtz for Sizzix); and Lattice Doily Border, Heart Banner, and Ric Rack (La-La-Land Crafts).  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and is cut with Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).

We had a wonderful day with my family and my dad loved his card.  I think maybe I should be collaborating with my budding artist more often!

Club KennyK Challenge #11 - Anything Goes

Hi there!  I'm popping in with my design team card for the challenge over at KennyK Stamps' Facebook group, Club KennyK!  I am a few days late with my card so my apologies for that!  This time around Elena and Kenny are offering up an extra awesome prize! They will be awarding three 5 pen sets of Chameleon markers: one in the US, one in Europe, and one in Australia!  And Elena asked a DT member in each of those places to play with the markers and show off their work!  I'm her US girl (Be sure to visit Lucy in the UK and Dawn in Australia as well so you can see their amazing creations!)  And there are digis to be won as always, as well!!!

These pens are super cool!  They are an alcohol based blendable marker (refillable with replaceable nibs), like our beloved Copics, but the magic of them is you can get multiple color tones from light to dark with just ONE marker!  To check out a video from the company on how the markers work click HERE!

I received the Cool Tones set from the lovely Elena so I decided to color Mermaid.  You can find her and MANY other awesome digis and clear stamps at KennyK Stamps!

This was a completely different coloring experience than my Copics but they were fun!  Great for quick and simple creations and a good option for coloring while you are traveling!  Here is my finished project!

I used the Chameleon markers exclusively to color the image which was then cut with Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I stamped around the edge of the circle in Tim Holtz's Antique Linen Distress Ink (Ranger) then sprinkled around some Shabby White Fran-tage.  Once again I've layered oodles of dies on my card:  Labels One Nestabilities and Crown Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Shell Border, Seaweed Border, Wave Border, Under the Sea, and Open Hearts Doily Border (La-La-Land Crafts).  The sand dollar and seahorse are a Martha Stewart punch.  For the finishing touches I added some cheesecloth gauze, flowers, and pearls.

Visit the challenge HERE to get all the details, view the Krafty Krew's gorgeous creations, and play along!

Last Day of School

Woo hoo!  School's out for Summer!  Except that doesn't really change much for us.  It's just camp instead of school.  And there's still homework- Summer reading, Summer journal, Math flashcards...  Oh my!  Kayne's Summers are a bit different from the ones I enjoyed.  But though I feel that twinge of guilt and regret at carefree Summers lost, I know he'll have amazing opportunities I never had!  Archery, canoeing, swimming, and a host of other awesome warm weather activities await him all Summer long!  But first we had to say thank you to the hard-working and wonderful staff at his school!  I pulled an {almost} all nighter to get gifts and cards ready so I thought I'd show them off!

Here is the card and gift card bouquet I made for his teacher using LDRS' Saturated Canary Geekin' It.  It's hard for even me to believe I whipped all this up in one night (well, I did color two of the images the evening before, but still...)!  This little cutie was stamped with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and then cut with Resplendent Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I layered a bunch of my La-La-Land Crafts dies of course!  Here I used Fancy Doily Border, Scallop Border, Scalloped Banner, Glasses, and Open Book.  The notebook edge is a border punch.  I added flowers, paper straws, a few pearls, and a metal Tim Holtz hinge clip.

LDRS' Saturated Canary Homework graced a card for the principal.  His note reminds me of something I would write.  Though I think ours would involve the cat and a hair ball...  Also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics, this little guy is cut with Long Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I am obsessed with this Tim Holtz Star Cluster border die (Sizzix) that I got a few months back!  I also added Stars Five Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and Sunburst Border (La-La-Land Crafts).  The "a" is from My Favorite Things, and the notebook edge is that same border punch.  Flowers and a Tim Holtz pen nib are the final details.

Saturated Canary's Diane finishes up the trio of cards and she went to the school secretary (who helps me copy PTG materials and I'm forever indebted to)!  She is colored with Copics and cut using Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also added Heart Doily Border and Clipboard Border (La-La-Land Crafts).  Flowers, pins, a rhinestone flourish, and a Tim Holtz book plate are the details I added.

I love that I'm coloring up some of my Saturated Canary images lately!  Even if it does mean sleep deprivation on occasion!  Summer might be calling, but right now I think bed is calling louder!  'Night!

Saturated Canary: Denial (aka This Is Not Goodbye...)

Hi!  June has always been a busy month- one filled with many card making occasions: birthdays, graduations, weddings, Father's Day...  But now that I have a school aged child it has become even more so!  Now there are teachers and coaches and little 6-going-on-7 year old friends whose birthdays are celebrated with pizza and cake and goody bags!  All demand to be commemorated with a handcrafted, customized masterpiece.  My co-workers don't help either!  Always having birthdays.  Or leaving!  The thing is, I'm so tired from said work and sports and school events and parties that I have no energy, motivation, or mojo for creating those masterpieces!  But I try to persevere and power through anyway!  Here are a few of recent Saturated Canary projects.  I am so sad that the talented Krista will be closing up shop in August!  She is one of my favorite artists!  I am only consoled by the fact that I have amassed a HUGE collection of her art work and now, with no new images to tempt me, I may finally have a chance to use what I own!

My first card is one I made for my co-worker's birthday.  I colored Inked Pretty with Copics and cut her using Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Other dies include Small Lacy Border, Large Lacy Border and Open Leaf Flourish (La-La-Land Crafts); and Lovely View (LDRS by Spellbinders).  The buttery is a Martha Stewart punch as is the fishtail flag (Stampin' Up).  A couple of flowers, rhinestone flourish, and Tim Holtz pen nib finish off the look.

Next is a card I made for one of Kayne's classmates.  This is Little Fairy.  She is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I am the Die Queen so I've piled on a few here as well.  Featured are Lattice Doily, Lattice Border, Open Leaf Flourish, Bird Cage, and Birthday Flag (La-La-Land Crafts).  I had fun adding a mini resin frame, chipboard number, paper straw, and flowers.

Up next is a graduation card for my best friend's oldest daughter.  I remember when she was born so this was momentous!  She's not the girly type and has short hair so I opted to use Grad Boy 2015.  He is colored with Copics (of course) and cut using Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  I found this awesome metal embellishment at Michaels with the Dr. Seuss quote on it and knew I HAD to incorporate it in her card!  More dies grace this creation: Hot Air Balloon and Book Bracket (La-La-Land Crafts) as well as Star Cluster and Mini Clipboard (Tim Holtz by Sizzix).  The notebook edge is a border punch.  Final details include baker's twine, a mortarboard sticker, and Tim Holtz pen nib.

Finally, we come to my last share for today.  Made for a co-worker who is leaving, this card has Beach Ink front and center, colored with Copics and cut using Stitched Squares Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  Then I really piled the dies onto this one!  There's Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics and Picture Wheel (My Favorite Things); Lattice Doily Border, Lattice Border, Filigree Border, and Wave Border (La-La-Land Crafts);   Surf's Up Shapeabilities (Spellbinders); and Swirl Doohickey (Magnolia).  Adhesive pearls and flower trim were all the extras this one needed!

These images, and the many, many others I own, are so adorable and versatile!  I will refuse to say good-bye to Saturated Canary in my crafting!  This is not "good-bye"; it is "see you later".  And you will!

Until next time!
