The Corrosive Challenge #171 - Spring Fling

Happy Easter!  Was the Bunny good to everyone?  He delivered lots of smiles here!  Before we head off to my parents' for Easter dinner I wanted to tell you about the new challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge!  Spring is finally in the air here and that's what this fortnight's theme is all about- SPRING FLING!  Whether it's an Easter card, April showers, lots of flowers, or anything else that says sunshine and Springtime we want to see it!

Our wonderful sponsor is Delicious Doodles and Teri certainly does have some yummy images to chose from in her shop!  She has a fabulous variety- everything from goth to cute and in between!  She was generous enough to provide the team with several images to work with and I selected Away with the Bunnies.  She is offering 4 digis to our winner, but if you need to shop now Teri is even having a special Easter Egg-stravaganza sale featuring 25% off everything in the shop, but hurry- it ends at midnight tonight (her time)!

My card is pretty clean and simple for me.  I selected a sketch from Feeling Sketchy (#52).  I liked the  pretty simplicity of the layout but added my own flair with some embossing on the corner pieces and a Fleur de Lis Nestabilities die cut mat behind my image.   My only embellishments are a few flowers in the corner and some gold Stickles on the fairy's wings.

I'll be giving this one to my parents' along with a little gift I made.  I saw this idea for a chocolate bunny in a mason jar on Pinterest and I felt compelled to make some!  It was quick and easy and I learned that there is such a thing as edible Easter grass.  Yes, folks, that's right.  Edible!  I found it at Target.  All you need is one chocolate bunny, a mason jar, robin's eggs candies, the edible grass, and baker's twine or ribbon.  Here is the result:

Kayne and I had lots of Easter fun this week actually!  We went to visit the Easter Bunny, made Peep cupcakes, and colored eggs!

As you can tell, I absolutely love holidays!  And they are so much more special now that I'm a mom!  I am so happy to be sharing traditions from childhood with my small man, creating special memories for us both!  Hop on over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what my talented team has created!  And if Spring Fever has struck you too, we'd love to see you play along!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely day!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E70, E74, E79, R20, RV10, Y04, YG00, YG03, YG11, N0).

A Lesson in Kindness

This month has just been insanely busy, and I feel like I've haven't had much time to craft or blog!  But no matter how busy I am, I always try to make time for others.  That is why I wanted to quickly share this card I made for one of the little girls who attends Kayne's day care.  Panda Marci from La-La-Land Crafts seemed like the perfect image for a "thinking of you" card for her and her family.   They have been having a bit of a difficult time lately, and I thought it was a great opportunity to teach Kayne about thoughtfulness and kindness.  You're never too young to learn those lessons!

Maric is colored with Copics and cut out using Spellbinders Labels One Nestabilities.  I used the die as a guide for my doodling as well.  The papers are from a new pad acquired from Michaels recently.  It's from their Recollections line and is called Fabulous Girl.  Border punch is Martha Stewart.  The sketch is a delightful one from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (#180).

Of course I am still on overload over here!  It is Easter weekend and being the talented procrastinator that I am I have left everything to the last minute!  I just finished hard boiling two dozen eggs for coloring tomorrow!  And now there are cards to tackle! I hope the Easter Bunny is more organized than I am!  lol

Sorry I've been so scarce and thanks for stopping by!  It's always a pleasure to read your lovely comments!  Off to find a sketch and my mojo!  Have a wonderful evening!

Forty-Licious

As many of you know, I will be the big 4-0 this year!  But I'm not the first one of my friends to enter this new decade!  My best friend celebrated her birthday this week, and the festivities began on Saturday with her surprise Forty-Licious scavenger hunt and after party!  I worked with three of her closest friends to plan a party she will not soon forget!  Above are the thank you cards I made for her as part of her gift.  The zebra print blank note cards are from Staples.  The image is an Inkadinkado stamps and the cool paper clip are from Michaels' Recollections line.

The invitations were created by my crafty friend, Michelle B., of Evermore Card Creations.  She not only creates beautifully stamped and hand-colored cards but she does altered art and is a digital graphics goddess as well!  Here are the tickets the guests received to attend this V.I.P. event!

Michelle also created matching backstage passes for our guests to wear in lanyards.  If you would like to see more of Michelle's work visit her blog HERE or her etsy shop HERE.

The group, sporting matching tour t-shirts, surprised the birthday girl at a local restaurant then divided into two teams to begin the hunt!  Departing in the "tour buses", each team then had to provide video documentation of the tasks completed.  Whether it was singing the Oscar Mayer song with a mouth full of Bubbalicious, miming in front of Walmart, or doing the hokey pokey in the mall food court, the ladies had quite the interesting evening!

When the teams were done they returned to the V.I.P. venue for the after party!  No party is complete without delicious appetizers, yummy drinks, decadent sweets- including a forty-licious cake, swag bags, and compilation CDs!

There was even some, ahem, "entertainment" scheduled for the evening, but I can't show photos of that here!  lol  It was an amazing night and I think the birthday girl was a little over-whelmed by her rock star treatment!  Personally, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more!  Happy 40th!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Oh my, what a busy weekend this has been!  I am out of energy over here...  But before I totally crash I wanted to share two St. Patrick's Day cards that I made- one for Kayne and one for my very Irish co-worker.  First up is Kayne's using Leprechaun Luka from La-La-Land Crafts!  I couldn't resist this cutie!  He is colored with Copics and I've used my "go to" green papers again.  The post mark embellishment is from Michaels Recollections line.  The fishtail flags were created with the My Favorite Things Die-namics Stax, and I embossed them with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

Next up is a little something I whipped up for my co-worker.  The image is St. Patrick's Day from Sassy Studio Designs.  She is actually standing next to a large beer mug, but I fussy cut the mug away so I was left with only our Sassy lass here, colored in Copics.

Same green paper.  Martha Stewart border punch.  Fabulously funny Graphicat Designs sentiment.  I added a bit of bling and some flowers to dress it up a little.  The layout is last week's Sketch Saturday (#249).  I wasn't in time to link up for it, but liked the sketch so much I used it anyway.

I am absolutely wiped out!  I need to get a bit of rest before the work week starts tomorrow (and ANOTHER snowstorm hits us on Tuesday)!  Sadly, I won't have a Graphicat Sketches card ready for the new sketch tomorrow, but be sure to head over to check out the new challenge and the amazingly talented Crafty Catz I work with on the design team!  (Thanks, Cheri, for giving me a pass on this one!)

I'll leave you with a couple of St. Patty's Day photo ops of my little leprechaun!
Kayne sporting his St. Patrick's Day hat and a bit o' attitude!

The Corrosive Challenge #170 - Just Dance

This is my second post today.  Please scroll down for the Sassy Studio Designs Follow the Yellow Brick Road blog hop.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  And welcome to another Corrosive Challenge!  This fortnight we are sponsored by Mayzy Art!  Mayzy has many awesome images and she has a whole collection that fit our new challenge- "Just Dance"!  We want to see your best moves on the dance floor... or at least your dance themed projects!  Not only did Mayzy allow us each to select an image to work with, but she is offering up 5 digis to our winner!  You can browse her images HERE.

Since everyone is a little Irish on St. Patrick's Day I decided to work with her St. Patty's Day image.  She is the cutest little Irish dancer, curls and all!  I paired her with LOTS of green papers and a sentiment I found online.  My layout is the current Deconstructed Sketch (#93).

I hope you'll visit the rest of the team as well to see their dance numbers!  And maybe you'll join us for this fun challenge!

I am off to meet my dad and small man for breakfast (Kayne had a sleepover at Babci and Papa's so Mommy could party into the wee hours of the morning!).  And yes, we will be wearing our green!

Challenges:
- Papercraft Star: #136-Green
- Clear It Out Challenge: St. Patrick's Day/Green
- Cuttin and Stampin: #10-St. Patrick's Day
- Party Time Tuesday: #111-Luck of the Irish

Sassy Studio Designs: Follow the Yellow Brick Road Blog Hop

Sassy Studio Designs is having a new release this weekend and even though I stepped down from the team, they were gracious enough to let me participate in this month's blog hop as a guest!

Here is the complete hop order:

This month we're off to the wonderful world of Oz to see the Wizard and his bevy of witches!  I have worked with two of the witches, sisters Evanora and Theodora.  And the great news is if you leave a comment on this blog post, you will be entered for a chance to win one of these beauties for yourself!  That's right- I'm giving away both images!  Two lucky commenters will receive one image each!

The cards I made are for my best friend's tween twins.  They celebrated a birthday last week and their party was a movie themed one.  They and their guests went to see Oz the Great and Powerful at the theater as part of the fun!

My first card features Evanora.  She is as evil as evil comes!  We were asked to include a "wicked sentiment" on our creations so I added this one that I found online through a Google search.  What's an evil witch without minions, right?  Evanora's flying monkeys certainly fit the bill!

The second card showcases Theodora.  She is the sweet one until... Well, I won't spoil it for you.  Go see the movie!

I hope you'll visit all the Sassy girls to see more fabulous wonders from Oz!  Leave comments as you go because each of them is giving away the image they are featuring!

I will be back in a few hours with a new Corrosive ChallengeUntil then I will be whooping it up at my best friend's surprise 40th birthday party!  We are doing a scavenger hunt and rock star after party!  I will share photos and details soon!

Have a fantastic St. Patrick's Day (it's also Kayne's "half" birthday so we will be celebrating in green!)

Challenges:
- Shopping Our Stash: Sassy, Snarky, LOL

Graphicat Sketches #23

No crafting for two weeks and then *BAM* two cards in as many days!  I'm back today with the new sketch from Graphicat Sketches.  This was another awesome one!  Cheri's sentiments really let you have fun!  If you aren't familiar with her designs you should definitely visit her shop sooner than later!  You can find them all HERE.

For Sketch #23 I've paired her "A Girls Gotta Do" sentiment with "Voodoo Woman" from Delicious Doodles.  I have to admit that I love the look on her face!  Maybe it's because there have been a few times in my life when I've been where I imagine she is...  And it's probably a good thing I didn't have voodoo dolls at the time!  lol  Ms Voodoo is colored with Copics, cut using a Classic Oval Nestabilities then matted with a Floral Ovals one (both from Spellbinders).  The sentiment is cut with the ticket die from My Favorite Things.  It's bigger than my Tim Holtz one and worked better for the size I had printed the sentiment.  Papers are Basic Grey Little Black Dress: Shades of Grey and The New Black.  I used Martha Stewart's Drippy Goo punch to add a little "blood".  A couple of flat back pearls, a few flowers, and two pins from Stampin' Up embellish the card.

Be sure to visit the Graphicat Sketches blog to see what my fellow Crafty Catz have created!  I had big crafty plans for yesterday, but I spent all day organizing and uploading photos so that I can get them printed.  I have one scrapbook page done for my son (it's of the day he was born and he is now almost 3-1/2!) and two SMASH pages completed.  My new goal is to get moving on both of these projects.  I keep telling myself, well, if I only had photos ready to go I would work on it.  With my Instagram photos on their way and the rest nearly ready to order, soon I will have no excuse!

I've also created a Facebook page for my blog.  You can find me HERE if you are so inclined to LIKE me.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E20, E23, E31, E79, BG01, N0, N2, N4, R89, E04).

Thanks again for taking time to visit my blog!  I appreciate it!

The Corrosive Challenge #169 - All That Glitters

It's been a while since I've posted.  Heck, it's been a while since I've crafted!  Life has gotten busy here and it has forced me to make some decisions. One of those being that I chose to resign from Sassy Studio Designs to make room for more time with Kayne, more down time to relax, and eventually, maybe, a new creative adventure.  For now I will enjoy my remaining crafty endeavors- like The Corrosive Challenge!  It's time for a new challenge there and an amazing new sponsor!

This fortnight we are lucky enough to have the privilege of working with the talented Rick St. dennis!  His fantastic images can be found in his etsy shop!  And in honor of Rick's fabulous Elite Design Team and his Sparkle and Glitter challenge blog, our challenge theme is All That Glitters!  Use something shiny, sparkly, glittery, or blingy on your creation!

Rick was kind enough to let each member of the team select an image to work with.  I opted for Ms Razz L Dazzle here!  I've recently become hooked on the TV series SMASH so I'm all obsessed with Broadway at the moment!  Ms Razz L Dazzle looked like she could be in a musical!  Or a Vegas showgirl!  I colored her with Copics and then using glaze as an adhesive base (thanks to Rebecca of Sydney's Sentiments for the tip) I added gold microbeads to the trim of her dress.  I must admit that I got a little ahead of myself and added the beads before I trimmed the image so I had to resort to a craft knife to cut her out!  I used a gold glitter gel pen on her feathers and some of her jewelry.  Papers are Graphic 45's Curtain Call-Applause.The sentiment is a freebie from the ever generous Paulette over at Create with TLC!  I thought it was just perfect for this project!  A die from Labels Twenty-Two Nestabilities from Spellbinders was used to cut out the sentiment which was then edged with the gold glitter gel pen.

I hope you'll visit The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what my lovely teammates have blinged out and perhaps you'll play along for a chance to win the fabulous prize from our sponsor!  Check back with me tomorrow for a new Graphicat Sketches challenge!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, 100, YG06, E23, E74, E79, R89).
