Custom Creations

I love when people ask me to create something special for them.  (I also enjoy making personalized cards to give from myself as well.)  I always try to select an image that represents the recipient - their hobbies, interests, likes, physical characteristics.  It is the best compliment in the world when I am told the card is being saved/framed/cherished because it is so unique!  Today I have two cards to share that I made for custom requests and two more that I made for a birthday Kayne and I attended yesterday.  All of them feature a Saturated Canary image.

First up is a graduation card using Grad Girl 2015.

She is colored with Copics and cut using Floral Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I have been  more and more elaborate with my embellishments lately and this is one of those times that I really piled on dies, flowers, and Tim Holtz metal bits!  La-La-Land Crafts has THE BEST DIES EVER!  They are gorgeous, cut wonderfully, and cuts separate from the metal die easily.  Here I used quite a few: Scalloped Border, Lattice Doily Border, Heart Doily, Hot Air Balloon, and Wings Set.  The sentiment if from a Stampin' Up set called Great Grads and is cut with Small Labels Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The graduation year is computer generated and over stamped with an acrylic stamp from 4 the Grad (Hampton Arts).  I added lace, flowers, a couple of pearls and several items from my Tim Holtz stash (Memo Pins, Time Pieces, Game Spinners, Word Keys, and Pin Nibs).  The mortarboard (graduation cap) is a Jolee's Boutique sticker. Papers are from my stash.

Copics used: E21, E23, E31, E35, E70, E74, E79, R20, R22, R24, V17, V20, V25, N0, N2, N4, N6, 100

Next is Bloom.  This was an anniversary request from a co-worker.

She is colored with Copics and cut using Labels Twenty-One Nestabilities (Spellbinder).  I tried my hand at clothing folds here.  Not too shabby for a novice, right?  Other dies I used were French Pastry (Cheery Lynn Designs) and Scallop Border & Heart Doily Border (La-La-Land Crafts).  The edge of the image panel is stamped (Hampton Arts), sponged with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, and flecked with Shabby White Fran-tage.  Embellishments consist of lace, a couple of pearls, flowers, a resin frame (dollar section at Michaels!), and more Tim Holtz goodies (Label Pulls and Word Keys).  The heart punch is Martha Stewart.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - So Sophie: Graceful.  The "LOVE" sentiment is from a Vintage Affections set by the same name (Little Darlings Rubber Stamps).

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E31, E50, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59, G94, G99, R20, R81, R85, V95, V99, Y28, N0, BG10, BG72, BG75

And finally here are the cards I made for one of Kayne's friends and his older brother for their joint birthday party (Irish twins!).  Star Wars is still as cool with kids today as it was almost 40 years ago so I used Krista's image called The Force.  I printed two images out, flipping one so it faced the opposite direction.

The images are colored with Copics and cut using Labels Three Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I tried clothing folds again here.  Their cloaks were a lot harder than the dress.  Not sure if it was garment or the color choice or the colorist (or any combination of the three) but I wasn't as happy with these results as the last time.  Practice makes perfect though.  I sponged the edge with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and then sprinkled the panel with Shabby Blue Fran-tage.  Other dies used were Star Circles Nestabilities and Stars Five (Spellbinders), Wrought Iron Fence (La-La-Land Crafts), Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things), and Mini Film Strip (Tim Holtz).  I added a Tim Holtz metal Sprocket Gear, punched star border (Martha Stewart), and jute ribbon.  Star Wars paper is from my stash.  The letters used to create their nicknames (for Jacob and Sebastian) are American Crafts Thickers: Subway foam stickers.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E53, E55, E57, E59, R20, B32, B34, YG11, N0, N2, N4

Last Day of School

Schoool's out for Summer!  Today is Kayne's final day of Kindergarten.  I'm not sure where the time has gone, but my little boy is moving up to the next grade.  After a Summer full of fun first, of course!  I made a little sign for him to celebrate this special occasion.

He's looking forward to camp and the other joys of Summer only a kid can fully enjoy and appreciate.  Except for maybe the teachers...  I'm sure they are just as excited about this!  To thank them for their efforts this year I decided to give Kayne's Kindergarten teacher and aide a humorous card and gift.

I went clean and simple (CAS) with these as I was pressed for time.  My craft friend Lucy does this style to perfection and I attempted to take a page out of her book.  Sadly, though she was a wonderful inspiration, I feel mine lack that special something that give her cards this amazing WOW factor.

I colored up a KennyK digi image (Cheers Dude) for his teacher and a Saturated Canary one (Wine O'Clock) for his aide.  The sentiment I found on Pinterest and was computer generated by me in the Castellar font.

The gift certificates will be put to good use, I'm sure.

Thanks for popping in and hope your Summer is going swimmingly so far!

The Corrosive Challenge #227 - Leave A Little Sparkle

Happy Father's Day AND first day of Summer!  I am going to make this a quick post because I am off to celebrate with my dad!  Breakfast out and then a home cooked fiesta of nachos and chili!  Yum!

Speaking of yummy...  At The Corrosive Challenge we are welcoming back A Day For Daisies as our sponsor!  We love working with Tammy and all her delicious images!  To go shopping in her store (HERE) you really do feel like a kid in a candy store!  She is offering a $12 voucher as the prize for our winner!

Our theme is one I love - and try to live by -  "Leave A Little Sparkle"!  Anything shiny, sparkly, or glittery goes!  Tammy is always sweet enough to let each DT member select an image to work with and I picked Fancy Hair Fairy.  She is colored with Copics and cut using Labels Seventeen Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I sponged Distress Ink in Vintage Photo around the edges and then added Shabby Blue Fran-tage.  Her wings are covered in Baby Blue Stickles.  I used a few other dies as well: Heart Doily Border, Honeycomb, and Filigree Crown (La-La-Land Crafts).  After watching a video on Youtube, I finally figured out how to use those darned punch around the page punches from Martha Stewart!  (The butterfly is also from her.)  I'm so glad I took the time because I love the result!  I finished my creation off with a bit of lace, a bling flourish, some flowers, a Tim Holtz Corner and Philosophy Tag, and framed sentiment.  The sentiment is from a Little Darlings Rubber Stamps set called Vintage Affections - Enchanted Wishes.  Papers are DCWV Rustic stack.

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see the rest of the design team SPARKLE!

Saturated Canary Summer GDT Call

Hi!  I was SO excited to see that Krista was having a Saturated Canary Summer guest design team call, but I was worried I wouldn't have time to create!  With school getting out next week I have been out straight with all sorts of kid activities and have stayed up until 1am not once, not twice, but three times this week!  That is waaay too late for this momma lately!  I'm not as young as I used to be!

Sleep deprivation aside, I have to say I was happy with the results of my late night efforts!  Here is what I created using one of the two images required for the call.  This is Traveler.  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I am really liking the elaborate card style so this is another one I loaded like a baked potato!  (Is anyone else hungry now?)  I used a bunch of great dies: Lattice Border and Lattice Doily Border (La-La-Land Crafts), Weathered Clock and Hardware Findings (Tim Holtz), Cityscape and Eiffel Tower (My Favorite Things), and Labels Fourteen and Long Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also piled on the embellishments again!  There is pearl lace, flowers, a ticket, and a few Tim Holtz items consisting of Compass Coins, Game Spinners, Long Fasteners, and Locket Keys.  I dressed up the white panel behind the image with some Distress Ink (both sponged and stamped with a couple of Stampin' Up sets).  The butterflies are Martha Stewart punches.  The sentiment is also Tim Holtz.  Papers are Teresa Collins World Traveler.

Now I nervously await the announcement...

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E31, E33, E35, E37, E39, E51, G94, G99, R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, R39, N0, N2, N4, N6

So Saturated

Hi!  We're counting down the days until the end of school here... Only 7 to go!  How many where you are?  Or are your kids already out and telling you how bored they are?  Lol

If you've spent any time at all reading my blog, you know I ADORE Saturated Canary!  Here are a couple of recent creations that I haven't yet shared.

First I want to show off a card I made this past Sunday for a baby shower.  I am quite proud of this one and really enjoyed putting it together!  I started with the VERY pregnant Overdue digi and then went over the top with my dies again!  I can't get enough of La-La-Land Crafts' dies!  I've used Open Hearts Doily Border, Heart Doily Border, Heart Doily, Moon and Stars Banner, and Rocking Horse as well as the Resplendent Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and Fishtail Flags Banner Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  The love/marriage/baby carriage sentiment is from Hampton Art and I fussy cut it before popping it up on foam squares.  I added another sentiment, a JOY wood veneer, white flower lace, flowers, a bling flourish, and tiny safety pins.  Papers are DCWV - Nana's Nursery Baby Girl.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, Y23, Y28, YG03, YG06, YG11, YG61, R20, R22, R24, R32, R35, R39, R89

 Challenges:
- Die R Us Challenge: #27-Flags and/or Banners
- Sisters of Craft: Anything Goes
- Crafting From The Heart: #64-Always Anything Goes
- Craft Your Passion: #266-Always Anything Goes

Next is Princess Reading Beauty.  I needed a birthday card for one of Kayne's classmates.  He told me she liked princesses.  It was hard to choose a favorite from Krista' collection of princesses, but once I decided I colored her up with my Copics and fussy cut the image.  She's popped up on foam squares in the center of the card, matted on top of Classic Circles and Scalloped Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used a design from Sketch Saturday (#364) as my layout.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Moments.  I embellished with flowers and a glitter chipboard number 6.

Copics used: E21, E23, E31, E35, E70, E74, E79, N0, N2, N4, R02, R22, BG10, BG72, BG75

Challenges:
- Fairytale Challenge: #119-Birthday with Children
- Graph'It Markers Colour Challenge: Wk 24-Blue/Birthday

And finally, here's Julie Stylist.  My best friend asked me to make a card for her hairdresser's birthday.  It was sort of last minute so my coloring is rushed and not the best.  And I threw this little creation together with only a couple of dies - Classic Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders), LDRS Lovely View (Spellbinders) and Birthday Corner die (La-La-Land Crafts).  Some flowers finish it off.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Dolled Up.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E31, E50, B00, B02, B34, B37, BG10, BG72, Y32, Y35, YG11, R20, R32, R35, N2, N4, N6

I've printed out more Saturated Canary images as well!  Hopefully I'll have some time to color in-between all the end of school activities and have more cards to share soon!

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a fabulous week!

KennyK's Krafty Krew #197 - Anything Goes

Hello!  Apparently when you have a school age child, June is just as hectic as the holidays!  I have been running around non-stop since Wednesday and this week looks like a repeat performance!  With the school year wrapping up and activities coming to an end I'll be needing a few cards.

Luckily, KennyK's Krafty Krew has the perfect challenge for you if you'll be in a crafting frenzy like me!  We usually have a twist, an optional theme that can earn you additional prizes, but this time there is NO TWIST!  Just "Anything Goes" with a KennyK Downloads digi or Clear Stamp!  Our awesome sponsor is none other than KennyK Downloads with a prize of 5 digis of choice for our winner and 1 digi each to our Top 3 picks!

I needed a card for Kayne's tee ball coach.  The season is over and we had a party/award ceremony on Saturday.  I thought it was really something special that he donated his time and effort to these kids in the instructional league and I wanted to thank him for it.  I colored up the super cute Batter Up for the occasion!

He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I kept it simple since I was pressed for time.  The layout is courtesy of Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (HERE).  Papers are American Crafts and the sticker is a Snap Shot from Paperhouse.  I added a piece of jute string and a few red adhesive pearls to finish it off.

And here's the gift we gave the coach!  I went with mostly baseball themed goodies: peanuts, Cracker Jacks, sunflower seeds, Baby Ruth candy bar, Big League Chew bubble gum, and a Dunkin Donuts gift card.

I have another busy week ahead so stay tuned to see what I'll be creating along the way!

Thanks for popping in and enjoy your Monday!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, R20, R24, R27, R29, R46, R89, N0, N2, N4, N6

The Corrosive Challenge #226 - Pile It On

Hi there!  How is everyone today?  I'm happy it's Sunday, but wishing I didn't have a Summer head cold and lack of sleep bringing me down.  Regardless, I will be getting outside today as it is a perfect one out there!  Maybe a good dose of Vitamin D will do the trick!  Before I don the sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray I wanted to stop by with my creation for the latest Corrosive Challenge, though!

This fortnight we are welcoming back sponsor Aurora Wings!  I'm a huge fan of Mitzi's work and I have quite the collection of her digis.  I may have to invest in one or two of her coloring books too.  Doesn't that sounds like fun?!  You can find all her goodies in her Etsy shop HERE.    Go ahead, browse and make a wish list.  Mitzi is generously offering a $15 gift voucher to our winner!!!

Our theme for the next two weeks is one I had A LOT of fun with!  It's "Pile It On"!  That can mean different things to different people and we are leaving it up to your interpretation.  Pile on the embellishments, layers, other challenges, or any combination.  Just be sure to tell us in your post how your project meets our criteria.  I colored Rose Fairy 2 from my collection for this challenge.  Mitzi offered the team images to work with, but I decided it was time to color one of the beauties I already owned.  She is colored with Copics and matted with two layers.

As you can see, I really did pile it on!  There are a plethora of dies and embellishments on the card!  I was happy to use several of my dies from La-La-Land Crafts (Lattice Doily Border, Lattice Border, Heart Doily) as well as the picket fence Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  I also popped a butterfly from a Martha Stewart punch on there too.  Embellies abound with a sheer runched ribbon, resin frame, flowers, bling, and Tim Holtz goodies (Type Charms, Compass Coins, Game Spinners, Pen Nibs, Corners). I sprinkled a little Aged Rose Fran-tage around the sentiment, which is from a Little Darling Rubber Stamps set - Vintage Affections: Enchanted Wishes.  The papers are Brenda Walton - Madeline (K&Company).

If CAS is your thing, this challenge may give you pause, but it was super fun!  And with such a fabulous prize up for grabs it's worth the effort!  Visit the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team stacked up and just a head's up that our design team call is still going on until the 14th!

Thanks for visiting!  Enjoy your day!
