I am so thrilled to be here with the first of four days of previews for Simply B(etty) Stamps! I was asked to be a guest designer for this awesome release by Miss Betty Boo as she knows I have a special fondness for the subject! Meet the Teen Scene Norse Gods! I am SO excited to be debuting these images this week! There will be four days of previews, culminating with the release on Friday. First up is everyone's favorite trickster, Loki! Jude Loki to be exact! This mischievous fella has been colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares. I used a sketch found at Forever Friends (#48) as my layout. Papers are Lemon Flower by DCWV. I simply added a few black pearls in two corners to let the papers and image really steal the show! The sentiment is stamped on a ribbon banner die cut from Spellbinders and is from the My Favorite Things set called Party Girl. It was just too perfect for Loki! As a side note, some of you know I had a beloved cat named Loki who was with me for 16 years before she passed away last year so have a special fondness for this god.
Next up is the mighty god of Thunder, Christian Thor! As well as being Norse deities some of you will recognize these two as Marvel comic characters. If you haven't see the movies Thor or The Avengers I highly recommend both! If for nothing else than the yummy eye candy that is Chris Hemsworth! Anyway, here is my card...
Christian Thor is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers as well. I used my largest Classic Circles Nestabilities Spellbinders die to cut him out and then sponged around the image with Distress Ink in Antique Linen. The sketch is from The Crazy Challenge (#131). The papers are from Recollections, Michaels own line of products, but they are the same designs as My Mind's Eye - Union Square. I was a little stumped at first for embellishments but I ended up using a brad and my Sizzix Decorative Flourishes die. The inside reads "You Are My Hero" and is from the My Favorite Things set called Good Knight.
You may have seen these two before as they were offered as a special gift with purchase from Betty a few releases back. But now they will be available to everyone on Friday! Check back tomorrow to see what other Norse fun we have in store for you!

My card is based on the new Sketch Saturday layout (#232). I colored Shady with Copics and fussy cut her. The papers are My Mind's Eye - Meadow Lark. The doily die cut is French Pastry from Cheery Lynn Designs. I've used some trim from my stash as well as a a few flowers and adhesive pearls. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, a set called Party Girl.

Halloween may be over but there is one more challenge left for Simply B(etty) Stamps 13 Days of Halloween! Day 13 is here and the theme over on Simply Challenged Challenges is "Trick or Treat"! They want to see our craftiest tricks or treat them to the Halloweeniest project we can create!
I apologize that my "how to" instructions on this are a bit lacking in photos, but I was finishing as my parents arrived to take us to my brother's birthday dinner (who was born just before Halloween twenty some odd years ago and who the card was for) and my photo session was a bit rushed! I chose to make a twisted easel card. This is a fabulous take on the traditional easel and adds a fun little twist (pardon the pun) to any occasion card!
It's easy enough to make. I started with a piece of card stock measuring 5.5"x11". I then scored it at 5.5" to create a square card base. This is no different than making a regular card. The twist comes in when you score one half of the card diagonally. I then cut another piece of card stock to 5.5". This is my card front. See photo below.
I decorated my card front as I would any other card. The image is called Hamlet from The Coquettes collection. He is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers. Papers are Glowing from Authentique.
I then decorated the inside of the card as it is partially visible when the card is propped open. The key to easels is that you need something raised to hold the front in place when it is open. I used a skeleton embellishment from Jolee's Boutique, but anything raised will do the trick. I also fashioned a little pocket for the inside to turn the card into a money holder. Folded up bills fit inside quite nicely and keep the gift, or treat if you will, secure.
The only other thing to remember with a twisted easel is that it's best to have the card open on your craft desk before adhering the front to ensure it ends up in the proper direction. Because of the "twist" the front is in a different position when open than a traditional card or easel. This can be tricky so I advise a trial run opening and closing it to determine in which direction your front needs to be placed before committing to the adhesive!
And there you have it! I have completed all of the challenges for the 13 Days of Halloween! It was a ton of fun and I'm sad my favorite holiday is over, but it's never too early to start planning for next year! But I suppose I should get through Christmas first.

Welcome to another Sassy Studio Designs' Fabulous Freebie Friday! It's a new month and Halloween is over but we are still giving away treats as we do all year long! Today we have another double whammie for you - TWO fantastic images instead of one! To grab these cuties head over to our Paper Craft Planet group! We've just reached 800 members there, and we will be celebrating this weekend! There will be an exclusive brand new freebie, a hop, a challenge, prizes, and more!
But back to today's image! She's called Little Honey Devil Debbie! (She has an angelic counterpart named Ashley.) If you visit PCP you can download them both for the next 24 hours! I was just wiped out yesterday after all the excitement and fun of Halloween so my card is not up to my own standards, but I hope you like her anyway... She is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers and fussy cut. Papers are from my stash. The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday (#231), but none of my embellies looked right so I ended up going with the devil's flame sticker from Jolee's. Texture is the current challenge, and I incorporated it using the glitter card stock, the embossed panel, and the black lace. The die cut behind her is a Spellbinders Nestabilities (Beaded Ovals). The sentiment is a My Favorite Things gem from one of their Twisted Sentiments sets.

Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday is here! It has been such a busy month that the days just flew by! I can't believe it's the 31st already! And can you believe that I met my personal goal of posting to my blog every day in the month of October?! Twice on some days! I shared 33 projects with you and I'm a little amazed at myself that I actually did it! I'll confess that I'm dead tired (The baking spree this week has not helped! Cookie pops are in the oven now!), but I feel such a wonderful sense of accomplishment!
I have one last card to share this month, but I have a feeling it won't be the last Halloween card of the year! There is one more Simply B(etty) Stamps 13 Days of Halloween challenge to go, after all! This card is for a Halloween birthday and was a bunch of fun to make! I started with the new Sassy Witch image from Sassy Studio Designs. She is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares. The month of October paper from My Mind's Eye-Haunted 6x6 pad was perfect! I cut a doily in Pumpkin Pie card stock using the French Pastry die from Cheery Lynn Designs. I also cut a Magnolia swirl from black card stock as well as a Tim Holtz ticket from kraft. Since I really wanted the paper to be the focus after the image, all I added was a few flowers, chipboard glitter numbers and a Tim Holtz metal bookplate.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween! I have taken half a vacation day so I can enjoy the festivities with my small man! After a quick stop to see my mom, we'll be off to my best friend's for pizza, trick-or-treating, and The Great Pumpkin! It's been our yearly thing since he was born. I am taking advantage of this time to have fun with matching costumes! Soon he will tell me that's not cool, but for now it's okay that he's going as a dalmatian puppy and yours truly Cruella de Vil!

I weathered the storm yesterday and it was business as usual today. Which meant a full day of work and a visit to my parents' with the small man! But the challenge for Day 12 of Simply B(etty) Stamps 13 Days of Halloween closes at 9pm. Knowing I wouldn't be home in time to craft and blog, I brought some supplies to work with me. The card was colored and assembled on the fly and I'm now on my mom's computer writing the post. I do apologize for the lousy photos. If you remember, my camera died so I am taking them with my phone and the lighting here was not optimal.
Anyway, having come so far, how could I quit at this point? The theme for Day 12 at Simply Challenged Challenges is Haunted Places and we were to use a haunted house on our project. Mine is right on the paper, which if from My Mind's Eye - Scary Sparkle. I've used Lola and Louie from the Every Day Teen Scene collection. She is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares. I added a few flowers, a "haunted" banner from K&Company, a Tim Holtz metal corner, and a Fleur de Lis Squares Nestabilities die cut from Spellbinders.
I'm not thrilled with this one, but lets hope I get points for determination and perseverance! I am off to color while watching NCIS then it will be home for more baking for tomorrow is HALLOWEEN! I'm working a half day and then the spook-tactular fun begins!

Happy Almost Halloween! Today's post is a little something different... I had hoped to have a card to show you today, but despite getting out of work early due to the storm, I have yet to sit down at my craft desk! Instead I've been busy in the kitchen baking Halloween treats! They may look gruesome, but they're pretty tasty! We have a dozen red velvet cupcakes with vanilla butter cream frosting, complete with red gel "blood" and serial killer style knife! Then there are the remainder of the cupcakes, without the blood, and some without frosting for those who prefer it that way. (Imagine?!?!) And finally, what Halloween gathering is complete without creepy finger cookies? A yummy almond sugar cookie recipe and mold pan make these a lot of fun! There's even a sliced almond "nail"! There's something funny and slightly disturbing about watching your cute toddler gnaw happily on a finger! But hey, if zombies can do it, why not?
