The Deconstructed Sketch #11

Hello and Happy Saturday! It's been a busy and crazy day here today. I have to keep this post brief as I have a design team card to be working on, and I am in desperate need of some sleep. I was just waiting for an update on my dad who went to the ER this evening with what we thought was a dislocated finger. It seems that they think he tore a tendon. I feel awful because he was playing basketball with my son at the time. It was my brother who threw the ball to him and it was just an unfortunate thing that happened, but it was an abrupt and unhappy end to our normally fun Saturday family night. My dad is my small man's favorite so it's extra sad that he'll be out of the game until he heals. Anyway...

On to my real reason for the post - my card. It is a birthday card for my son's father. His 40th was yesterday and I wanted him to have a special card. I can't say that we've had the best relationship as of late, but he is my small man's dada... My friends would tell you I'm too nice, but it just felt like the right thing to do. I used the awesome layout from The Deconstructed Sketch #11! This was a lot of fun to work with and I found it lent itself very well to a masculine card. I opted to make an easel card since that gave me some extra space to decorate. My image is the digi version of Pilot Luka from La-La-Land Crafts, a tribute to my son and his love of all things that go! There is nothing quite like the excited squeal of an almost 2 year old boy when he sees a truck, a car, a train, or a plane! :) The clouds are cut from white felt using the cloud Die-namic from My Favorite Things, and I used a Martha Stewart punch for the borders plus my Labels Sixteen Nesties for the image and "40". The designer paper has been in my stash FOREVER, and I was quite happy to be able to use it finally. The sentiments and banners are separate stamps from My Favorite Things. At the last minute I added the antique brad and the gears. I think they were wise embellishment choices.

I'd also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Okay, well, I'm off to work on my card, but I will be back tomorrow with another Corrosive Challenge for you! Thanks for stopping by! {hugs}
