13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 12

Our challenge for Day 12 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps was to make a "Halloween shaped" card.  Bats, pumpkins, witch hats and shoes, cauldrons...  You get the picture.  I decided to use an unopened and neglected Spellbinders die to make a candy corn card!  It doesn't get much more "Halloween" than this sugary delight!

I free handed a card base on black card stock and then used the Candy Corn die to cut my yellow, orange, and white pieces.  I embossed them with the Swiss Dots folder for some texture and added a bling swirl and a Martha Stewart candy sticker.  I colored up Miss Batty Rio from the Teen Scene Trick or Treat collection and fussy cut her before popping her on the card.  Inside is a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Midnight Feast set.

I am off to finish up cookie pops and goody bags for tomorrow.  I have poured myself a big pumpkin mocha iced coffee for the task!  Halloween is almost here!!!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 11

Day 11 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps celebrates Famous Ghouls in History.  We were asked to chose a ghoul from our all time favorite spooky movie or story.  I loved the Nightmare on Elm Street movies growing up so I selected Lola Kruger from the Teen Scene Trick or Treat collection.  I colored Lola with Copics and cut her and a mat out using the Labels Twenty-One Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  The paper is actually from a Christmas pad called Festive by Authentique.  I added a Tim Holtz adage ticket and clock face, a die cut corner, a few flowers, and some bling swirls.  My favorite part, though, is the ripped paper, making it look as though those razor sharp fingers had done some slashing!

Two more days to go and I'm still in the running!  Tomorrow will be tricky because it is the last night before Halloween and I have treat bags to make as well as baking to do!  I may need an extra dose, or three, of caffeine tomorrow evening!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E27, E31, Y23, Y35, R32, R39, R89, YG91, YG93, YG95, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8).

It's in the Cards

Every month Simply B Stamps has a Facebook fan group contest where Betty graciously offers either a low cost or free image to be used for the challenge.  This month there were two fabulous images: Voodoo Corinne and Fortune Teller Betty.  We were allowed to request one for free.  It was too hard to choose so I asked for Fortune Teller Betty then purchased Voodoo Corinne.  There was a different theme set for each image.  You saw my creation using pins with Voodoo Corinne earlier in the month.  Now it's time to show you a bit of sparkle with Betty.

The challenge was to use bling and glossy accents.  I definitely have the bling part covered with those rhinestone corners!  I added glossy accents to the crystal ball (naturally) and her eyes.  Papers are Authentique - Enchanted.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I cut it using the Labels Fourteen Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Fortune Teller Betty was colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares on top of a Classic Circles die (also from Spellbinders).

I'm happy that I was able to get two cards completed this evening, but now I really must get some rest!

Thanks for stopping by!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 10

Day 10 and I feel like a zombie.  But Day 10 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps isn't about zombies at all...  It's about graveyards.  So I am working the graveyard shift to get my graveyard scene linked up in time!  It's tough when you have less than 24 hours to complete a project and you're a single mom who works full time!  Hence my creation is no frills, no fuss.  I colored FrankenBetty with Copics and fussy cut her.  I selected designer paper from Martha Stewart's Vampire pad that has gravestones on it for my card base then added a partial fence (Martha Stewart punch) and a glittery spooky tree (Jolee's Boutique).  Instant graveyard!

Three more challenges left and I'm hoping the deadlines don't prove too much for me...  Wish me luck!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 9

Day 9 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps is here and the time crunch is really on now with Halloween only 3 days away!  We were given less than 24 hours to complete this challenge, which is "SPLATTERED".  I was SO busy this weekend that I literally just finished and I'm now blogging it at the speed of light!

I chose vampire red with Bella the Vampire from the Halloween Steampunk collection.  This fatal beauty is colored with Copics and is matted on top of the Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  The papers are Martha Stewart - Vampire.  I added a few flowers and a bling swirl.  The sketch is the latest from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (#196).

Between a concert, the zoo, jack o'lanterns, and dinner for my youngest brother's birthday (my first time trying Indian food!) it has been a jam-packed few days!  And it's just going to get worse as I prep for my most favorite holiday on Thursday!  I baked my first batch of pumpkin bread today and I have more holiday baking to do as well as treat bags for Kayne's day care.  It is going to be an INSANE week!  I guess that means I should be off to get some sleep!

I hope you are enjoying all the Halloween creations here!  Only a few more days to go...  XOXO

The Corrosive Challenge #186 - Tic-Tac-Toe

Good morning!  It has been a whirlwind weekend here, but somehow I've managed to get some crafting in too.  Today I'm sharing my project for the new Corrosive Challenge.  This fortnight we are welcoming The Paper Shelter as our sponsor.  Their images are so very lovely and are a delight to create with!  Not only did they provide the design team with several gorgeous images, but they are generously offering a $20 gift certificate for our winner!

Our theme is Tic-Tac-Toe.  Simply complete three in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) from the card to play along.

I chose to work with Arabian Spell.  She is a gorgeous belly dancer, but she also reminds me of a genie.  I colored her with Copics and featured her on the latest Sketch Saturday (#282).  Papers are Dark Romance from DCWV.  I kept it simple since I have been running non-stop.  The only embellishments are a rose and a bling flourish.  The sentiment is cut with the Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  I have actually completed three rows of the card (bling/dies or punches/flowers and patterned or digi paper/image/sentiment and flowers/sentiment/layers).

Thanks for sticking with me this month!  I love October and Halloween dearly, but I am SO looking forward to November 1st and catching up on some sleep!  Have a wonderful Sunday!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 8

Welcome to Day 8 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps!  This challenge is all about zombies coming up out of the ground!  I apologize in advance for the brief post, but the the time table to complete the challenge is shorter than the previous ones and I have a full weekend already!  I am off to the zoo shortly for the day and their jack o'lantern spectacular at dusk!

I decided to make a stair step card using Bwains Christian from the Teen Scene Halloween 2012 collection.  I got out a few of m Halloween Spellbinders dies and the new My Mind's Eye - Wicked pad.  The stickers are from Paper House.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tee Time

Well, I had so much fun playing with Tee It Up from Saturated Canary that I have another card to share with you!  I needed an anniversary one for a co-worker to give his wife (these guys must be scoring some big time brownie points with these custom cards, right?!?!  lol).  She is a golfer so I knew the image would be perfect.  I snagged the sketch from somewhere online but now I can't remember where.  It is an older one so the search proved futile.  (And I really should take better notes as I'm working on projects!)  Anyway, the image is colored with Copics and cut using Labels Seventeen from Spellbinders.  Papers are Simple Stories - Summer Fresh.  The corner element is a Sizzix die called Architectural Accents.  Flowers, a pearl & rhinestone flourish, a Martha Stewart heart punch, and some cheesecloth are the finishing details.

Today will be spent counting down the minutes until the Bon Jovi concert tonight...  This is the one that was postponed in February due to the snow storm!  It's finally here!  It will be my first show at a casino venue.  I'm not much of a gambler.  I'd rather spend my money elsewhere- like crafting supplies.  But my friend loves it so we'll probably hit the slots too.  There's nothing like a girls' night out with your best friend, no matter what you're doing! Except maybe golf.  LOL  I'm not much of a golfer either.  Unless, of course, we're talking the about the mini variety.  Then I still lack an ounce of skill but at least I have fun with it!

Enjoy your day and thanks for visiting!

Pick of the Patch

There is nothing cooler than an October birthday, in my opinion!  Though I was thrilled to meet my small man earlier than expected, I secretly mourned the loss of costumed Halloween themed birthday parties when he arrived a full month ahead of his October 19th due date.  But there are still plenty of birthdays to celebrate this month which means fun cards to make!

This particular card is actually a special request from my co-worker for his wife.  He has commissioned one from me for the past few years.  They are usually Halloween themed, but this year he mentioned pumpkins and I remember I had this whimsical pumpkin image, part of a set called Cats and Bats from Inkadinkado.  I colored the image with Copics and cut it using Classic Squares Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  It was then matted with Fleur de Lis Squares.  The Old Olive panel is embossed with the D'Vine Swirls folder.  I added flowers, a Sizzix die flourish, and glitter buttons as well as a Stampin' Up sentiment stamped on a Ribbon Banner die, also from Spellbinders.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  Sketch is courtesy of Sweet Sketch Wednesday (#229).

I'm not really sure how I'm going to get my weekend crafting and blogging in with a Bon Jovi concert, a trip to the zoo and their Jack O'Lantern Spectacular, and a birthday dinner for my youngest brother.  I guess I'll figure it out somehow...  I hope you have a fun-filled weekend ahead of you too!

ForTEE

Hi!  I have a few minutes to spare before I flop on the couch to watch American Horror Story: Coven so I thought I'd post this card I made for my friend's birthday.  Her special day was last month but we finally got together for dinner tonight!  It had been way too long in between visits and it was good to spend a little time catching up!  She is one of those old friends, those true friends, that no matter how much time has passed since you've last seen each other you can still just pick up right where you left off and it's like no time has passed at all!  Except that the kids get bigger!  lol

She likes to golf so I chose Tee It Up from Saturated Canary.  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  The sketch is the current challenge over at Bearly Mine Challenges (#109).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy Boy.  I thought the argyle pattern was a good match with her skirt!  lol  For embellishments I used Baja Breeze seam binding from Stampin' Up, flowers from my stash, and some American Craft Thickers chipboard numbers.

After my show I need to try to muster up some crafting mojo to get at least one card made.  My super busy weekend is going to make it challenging to get cards done for Friday and Saturday's blog posts but I am going to try!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E74, N0, N2, N4, N6, R32, YR00, YR02, YR04, YR07, BG0000, BG10, BG72).

Mummy and Me

It was a race against time to get a card made tonight, but here it is!  I made some happy mail for a friend using this adorable Mummy and Child stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps.  I have had it for a couple of years now and I decided it was far too cute to sit in a tote, uninked.  I colored them with Copics which was easy since they are mostly bandages.  I then used this fun sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp (#179) to put together my card.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Haunted.  For details, I added a bit of cheesecloth, ribbon, a black rose, Martha Stewart punched bats, and a few black pearls.

We went to visit my parents' tonight which was nice.  We missed them last week because they were away during the week and we had plans on the weekend.  My small man loves his time with them so it was nice to hang out and relax there tonight.  And I got to see his finished Halloween costume as my talented mom put on the finishing touches!  I cannot wait to get him all dressed up in it!!!  He seemed pretty excited too!  For three of his four Halloweens so far we have dressed in coordinating costumes.  His first Halloween we were both referees.  The next year he was a dragon (A-DOR-A-BLE!!!) but I didn't dress up.  Then he was Frankenstein and I was Mommy of Frankenstein (That was the year we got buried with an October snow storm!).  Last year I was Cruella De Vil and my mom made him a Dalmatian puppy costume.  I'm not sure if I can pull off a costume with him this year, and I'm a little sad.  But we'll see.  There's still time after all and it is my favorite holiday!

I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!  Thanks for dropping in!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 7

This blogging every day in October thing has me just wee bit stressed!  I am trying my best but I fear I may not make my goal this year!  I really am a procrastination genius!  With less than 10 minutes left to my Monday, I want to share the card I made for Day 7 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply Betty Stamps!

The theme is a bone chilling color challenge of black, white, and cream.  We are allowed to use other colors as well, but those three are a must.  I needed a Halloween themed wedding card so I selected Christian and Betty Mistletoe from the Teen Scene Christmas 2011 collection.  What better couple for Halloween nuptials than Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas!?  I colored them with Copics and fussy cut them, losing the mistletoe, and popping them up on foam squares.  The sketch is October's CLP (#63).  I used only black, white, and cream papers.  The designer papers are from the La Creme stack by DCWV.  I added white lace, black pearls, a couple of flowers, and a flourish.  The sentiment is stamped on a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics.

It is exhausting to make and blog a card a day in between all my other responsibilities.  Today is my long day at work and when I got home I gazed longingly at my couch and TV, then making sure the DVR was set for my shows, I sat down at my craft desk.  And I get to do it all over again tomorrow.  And the next day.  And the day after that.  Ten days to go... Plus somehow I also have to fit in Halloween baking and a weekend full of fun into the equation too!  Time to break out my inner Wonder Woman!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E13, E15, E17, E19, E21, E23, E27, E31, N2, N4, N6, N8, R32, Y32, BG10, BG72, V04, V12).

Holiday Chic: Sparkle with KennyK

Good morning!  I am thrilled to be guest designer again for KennyK over on their challenge blog: KennyK's Krafty Krew!  I was ecstatic when I found out!  Today they are releasing three new holiday images and you are going to LOVE them!  Visit kennykdownloads for a little retail therapy!  This fortnight the challenge is "Holiday Chic: Sparkle" and there are two fabulous sponsors:

FLONZ with a $20 gift certificate

and

KENNYK with 5 digis

It was a tough choice but I finally opted to work with City Star for my project.  I sat down having no idea what I was going to do, but this sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy (#50) really inspired me!  The image is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares (of course).  I added glitter to the "snow" areas and to the pompom of her hat for some sparkle on the image.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Christmas.   I thought they were classic, elegant, and chic- perfect for my creation.  I punched a few snowflakes with my Martha Stewart collection, added A LOT of rhinestones and the lovely Frostyville border from Memory Box, and I was done.  The Beaded Square die from Spellbinder works so well with bling or pearls and I just love the effect!

Want to play along?  Go visit KennyK's Karfty Krew and be sure to check out all the gorgeous makes from the team while you're there!  They are an incredibly talented bunch, and I am honored to be a guest among them this week!  You have two weeks to play along and a KennyK image is required.

Thanks for visiting!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 6

Worlds collide on Day 6 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps!  Well, maybe that's a bit over-dramatic but two holidays certainly do!  Think Nightmare Before Christmas as Halloween and Christmas collide in "one jingle brained bag of fun"!  We were instructed to make a Christmas treat box or bag.  (No cards or layouts were allowed for this challenge.)  And we had to "creep it out"!

I decided to work with Draco the Ghost from the original Halloween Steampunks collection.  His debonaire and dashing Victorian attire made me think of A Christmas Carol.  He is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Christmas.  I used foam squares to pop him up on top of a Spellbinders Labels Ten die that I embossed in the Swiss Dots folder.  The sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Midnight Feast set was inked on one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags and also popped up.  I also added a large doily medallion from Jolee's Boutique and some gorgeous black and white ribbon.  Cheese cloth in lieu of tissue paper enhances the creep factor.

We had a super fun time at the Great Pumpkin Fest tonight!  Take a look!

It was really cool to see our jack o'lanterns out on display.  The Cyclops came home with us, but sadly the cat suffered some sort of mishap and was not salvageable.  Though it was fun to make something for Christmas, er, Creepmas, I'm not done celebrating Halloween yet!  Just wait until you see what we're up to next weekend!  And speaking of Christmas, stay tuned tomorrow for a brand new creation and a GDT spot that I am over the moon about!  Until then...  I'm off to bed!
