Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #29 - Spots and Stripes

The week is going by quickly since I had an extra day off at the start of it. I took the small man to the zoo on Tuesday. My parents came with us since they are on vacation. A lovely time was had by all and there are plenty of pictures to prove it! So here it is Thursday already and time for another Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge! This week we have a fun one for you - #29 is Spots and Stripes! They can be anywhere on your project so get creative! Remember: Only Tickled Pink Stamps images can be used for this challenge. These include the Lil Lolita and Lil Lads, Lil Pinkettes, Pink Pets, and Cherrie lines of stamps.

I have chosen to work with one of this month's new releases. Meet Lil Little Lolita Willow. Isn't she darling? But underneath that sweet and demur exterior is one tough cookie! Hence my sentiment! The sentiment set is also from TPS and was created by the talent Cheri from Graphicat Creations to coordinated with the Lil Littles! The best part is: It's digital! So I was able to re-size the sentiment to fit on the punch I was planning to use. You just missed the TPS Digi Days, but fear not, they will be back next month on the 15th and be available for your shopping convenience for a whole week!

I had a lot of fun coloring Miss Willow, and I actually tried something new when working on her hair. I see this amazing coloring out there, and I just can't seem to duplicate all the amazing highlights and low lights that some of you achieve. There is such talent in this community, and I have more than one crafter on my list who I wish could come have a stamping play date with me and give me Copic coloring lessons! :) So I do my best to mimic what I see and have watched some tutorials, but I'm still learning. To add some depth and "life" to Willow's hair I dug out my Prismacolor pencils and added some highlight and low lights with the colored pencils. It worked better for me than using the markers as they tend to give me strokes that are too wide no matter how carefully I try. Anyway, here is a closer look at my colored image so you can tell me what you think.

Okay, enough of my shameless advertising plugs... lol On to my card. Focus! I discovered a new challenge blog via Feline Playful (LOVING this site!) called Stampin' Royalty and their challenge this week is #81 (see the sketch above) . It was just what I was looking for! My designer papers are from Deena's Penny Lane by My Mind's Eye, and I knew they would be perfect for the Spots and Stripes challenge! I also happened to recall that I had this striped grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts that matched perfectly! My "spots" are a bit hidden behind my rhinestone bling and image, but they're there. I'm also entering this into the challenge over at Crafts and Me Challenges which is #44 - add a flower.

And there you have it! I am so happy that I've been asked to stay on the Tickled Pink Stamps Challenges design team for another six months! I know it's been a week since I announced that here, but I'm still a bit giddy! lol So look forward to more {PINK} creations from me every week!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a fabulous week! It's a hot one here and temperatures are supposed to be close to 100 today and tomorrow with high humidity. I think we will all be staying in where it's air conditioned as much as possible. Which, I suppose, is a good excuse to craft! I will be doing that this evening, but first - work. Which is where I'll be when this post publishes. So have a good one and stay cool (or warm, depending on where you are)!
