Two very dear friends are getting married this month and Friday night I attended a cocktail party bridal shower for the beautiful bride-to-be. Of course I had to make her a card for the occasion! I chose Double Take from Saturated Canary as my image. I wanted to enter the current Saturated Canary challenge, Dotty (#25). It is a special challenge because the lovely Krista of Saturated Canary is donating one dollar per entry (up to 500) to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in honor of Jennifer Scull, who is currently battling the disease.
I selected sketch #223 from Sketch Saturday as my layout, but made a few adjustments. I missed the entry deadline anyway so it doesn't matter if I put my own spin on it! My image is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers. I made an attempt at the flicking method on her hair, and I've determined that I definitely need LOTS more practice! Her dress was outlined in places with my Sakura Star Dust glitter pen, and I added some clear rhinestones to the skirt. Papers are from My Mind's Eye. I am addicted to their 6x6 pads! This one is called Paris & Co. Their wedding colors are blue and brown so it was perfect! She is cut out using my Picot Edge Circles Nestabilities dies from Spellbinders. Some flowers, rhinestone flourishes, and a couple of punched Martha Stewart butterflies add the finishing touches.
Not only did I make that card for her, but I made 50 thank you cards (in 3 days)! I used an Impression Obsession stamp, Valentini, to match the cocktail party theme.
And yes, each one of the 50 was hand stamped, punched, embossed, and colored! I didn't want to see another martini by the time I was done! Not surprisingly, I opted for a Bay Breeze the night of the shower! lol
The rest of her gift included postage stamps to mail the thank yous, a wedding SMASH book, and a gift certificate to the rock climbing gym she and her fiance sometimes go to. No boring housewares for this gal! Not from me anyway! I felt wonderful when everyone oohed and ahhed at my gift when she opened it!
I took the rest of Friday and all of Saturday off from crafting, but need to get back to it tomorrow.
