Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #26

Do you know what today is? I can see all of you now, with perplexed, maybe slightly amused, looks, scratching your heads and thinking, "What's so special about today? Is she daft?" Maybe. It would appear to be a regular Wednesday, the end of the month, but nothing out of the ordinary, right? Wrong! Today is the movie theater release date of the newest installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse! Sadly, I will have to wait until the 9:30pm showing on Friday before I get to see it... But there couldn't have been a more perfect challenge from Sassy Studio Designs! I'm a little slow, but their Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge from last week was to create something movie related. My tribute to Eclipse uses SSD's image Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. "Bella" and "Edward" are colored with Prismacolor Art markers. Today is the last day to participate in this challenge, but if you're game link your creation and join the fun. A new Sassy Thursday will be announced tomorrow, and it is also new release day so be sure to check out the design team members' blogs for sneak peeks!

Card Supplies:
Images: Meet Me Under the Mistletoe (Sassy Studio Designs); Into the Moonlight (Artful Inkables)
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, and Summer Sun card stock (Stampin' Up); Night & Day designer series paper (Stampin' Up); white card stock (Staples)
Accessories: Circles and Labels One Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Wrought Iron border punch (Martha Stewart); adhesive pearls (Queen & Co.)

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check back! As SSD's Guest Designer for the month of July I was sent a couple of the new release images in advance... I'm hoping to have a sneak peek for you later.

Happy Crafting!

The Crazy Challenge - Make it in an Hour

What's crazy is that I'm still up at this hour, but I wanted to post one more card for another Sassy Studio Designs' sponsored challenge before I crawled into bed for four hours of sleep. Such is the life of a single, working, stamping mother! lol

This one I whipped up in under an hour for The Crazy Challenge's "Make it in an Hour" challenge. And if your Bulgarian is a little rusty, have no fear... Google Translate can take care of that for you so that there is no language barrier when it comes to crafting!

For my project, I chose Denim Debbie and paper pieced her jeans and sexy top. She was colored with Prismacolor Artmarkers and layered on Stampin' Up card stock (Baja Breeze, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, & Pink Passion) and We R Memory Keepers designer paper (Girls Night Out Classy & Flirty). I added a few black adhesive pearls and a melon colored flower and I was done. And I am. Good night!

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 56

Happy Monday! For those of you who don't already know, my big news is that (drum roll please!) I have been selected as guest designer for the month of July for Sassy Studio Designs! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to be a part of this team of talented ladies! Be sure to watch my blog for new creations each week. This week, though, there are fun challenges to participate in and sassy new releases to snag.

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring this week's challenge over at the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge blog. It's a color challenge: black, lime and lilac. This is my submission using Disco Diva. You have until Wednesday evening to post your link if you too would like a chance to win 4 fabulous Sassy Studio Designs digital images.

I am off to play with more of my SSD images. I was lucky enough to receive a couple of the new release images early and hope to post a sneak peek or two for you tomorrow...

Happy Crafting!

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #25

Happy Solstice! Summer has officially arrived and what better way to celebrate than with a Sassy Studio Designs' weekly challenge? This week's directive was to create something summer-y. Details can be found here if you'd like to play along. You have until Thursday to link your creations.

Summer, in my opinion, is not complete without a trip to the beach. Ever since I was a kid my family would go to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. Every trip, we would stroll on the boardwalk, play in the arcades, go on the rides and consume as much fried, frozen, sugary, salty and otherwise bad for you junk food as we could! Cotton candy was always a weakness of mine, and, okay, I'll admit it; I still find it delightful and indulge on occasion! So I chose Sweet Cotton Candy Candace for my card. She was colored with Prismacolor Artmarkers and then I "fluffed" up her spun sugar treat with some Flower
Soft in Raspberry Fizz.

Below are the other "ingredients" used to make my card:

Paper:
Gable Green, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Pink Passion and Pretty in Pink card stock (Stampin' Up); white card stock (Staples); Euphoria Cool and Delirium designer paper (Basic Grey)

Embellishments: Boardwalk dimensional sticker (Jolee's Boutique - EK Success); Blue gemstone brads (Recollections - Michaels); Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Spots and Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug - Provo Craft); white gel pen (Signo - Uniball)

Thanks for looking and stay tuned because I have some VERY cool news to share!

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #24

Here is my submission for this week's Sassy Studio Designs' Dare To Be Sassy Thursday. The details can be found
here so be sure to post your creation before this Thursday if you want to play! The challenge was to use ribbon on the card. I threw in the string pearls for good measure! I was asked to create a humorous wedding card for a bride to give her husband-to-be so this is what I came up with. Sexy Sandy is a little naughty, a lot sassy and a bit saucy. And best of all she is FREE! She is one of two free images offered from Sassy Studio Designs during their recent release. She was colored with Prismacolor Artmarkers and layered on a piece of Basic Black card stock from Stampin' Up. I used my Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities for the image and mat. Other supplies for the card include Rose Red and Baja Breeze card stock, also from Stampin' Up; white card stock from Staples, Girls Night Out Ooh La La designer paper by We R Memory Keepers; a Tim Holtz ornate plate; Stampin' Up black organdy ribbon; and Wright's pearls. The sentiment is computer generated and reads: "Something Blue? Check!" and inside "Now bring on the honeymoon!"
This was a fun card to make and I hope the bride gets a chuckle, and a Do Not Disturb sign on their honeymoon suite, from her groom!

Snuggle Bunnies and Monkey Tricks

I am sitting on the floor with my son, Kayne, and as I type he is babbling away to me in baby gibberish, complete with hand gestures. I am certain he is telling me a funny story about his day at day care, or perhaps he is scolding me to get off the computer, that this is OUR play time. Either way, it is precious, and I chatter back. He is only 8 months old, however; I don't have the heart to tell him that I don't yet understand what must make perfect sense to him. But he is learning in leaps and bounds. Just the other day we discovered that he can do "pat-a-cake" with his hands by himself when I recite the words. I look at him, and I marvel in the depth of the mother/child bond. I live my life from an entirely different perspective now. Though it is almost Father's Day, and dads are important too, I wanted to post a few cards made recently for some special "moms" in my life - one who recently became a first time grandmother and the other a first time mom.

The first card was made using the My Favorite Things set, Snuggle Bunnies by Stephanie Fizer. Colored with my Prismacolor Art Markers and paper pieced, this adorable duo are a-snooze on a sliver of the blue moon. I cut the cuddlers out and popped them up, layered on top of Stampin' Up's Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip card stock paired with color coordinating Ski Slope designer paper. The "Nana" embellishment is from Me & My Big Ideas and was the whole basis of my color scheme. My friend welcomed her first grandchild, a baby girl, when her daughter gave birth three days before Mother's Day. How sweet is that?

The next card features a digital image I snagged for free on Mo's Digital Pencil Too. If you aren't familiar with Mo's work's I suggest you take a peek... You won't be disappointed! This silly fellow is called Monkey Tricks, and he was perfect for a new baby card for my friend. She loves monkeys and, as such, it is no surprise that they are her nursery theme. Again the main image was colored with Prismacolor Art Markers. Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Cranberry Crisp and Old Olive card stock, all from Stampin' Up were chosen based on the colors in the designer paper collection from My Mind's Eye called Everyday Tango. A piece of Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon and a computer generated sentiment, punched and popped up, complete the fun, playful card.

Thanks for looking! I hope to be back soon with more posts and more cards. In the meantime, I will kiss my little man good night and look forward to what new wonderment tomorrow will bring him. And me.

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #23

Sassy Studio Designs' relay was so much fun that I decided to try my very first challenge as well! The directive was to make a graduation card using one of their images. I chose Cassie's Graduation. She was cut out as a cameo and colored using my Prismacolor Artmarkers. Papers used were from Stampin' Up - Basic Black and Taken with Teal; Staples - white card stock; and TPC Studio - Class Act Hat Swirl designer paper. The sentiment is from a Hampton Art clear stamp set called 4 The Grad. I paired it with a key hole from Tim Holtz and added a few teal adhesive gems from K&Company. I don't even have a grad to give her to, but it's always refreshing to make a card because you want to, not because you HAVE to! Whether you have a grad in your life this year or not, it's not too late to play along.... Projects just need to be uploaded by Thursday. Details can be found here. I have been hard at work in my craft room, and I hope to get some more posts up soon so be sure to check back.

Mad as a Hatter

And I must be crazy for staying up this late two "school" nights in a row! But there was crafting to be done so here I am! The fourth image in Sassy Studio Designs' anniversary relay is Sassy Hatter! I was once the mad hatter for Halloween. My friends decided that we were headed to Salem, MA for the day and that we had to have coordinating costumes. It was like being one of the characters at Disney World! People were stopping us and asking for pictures. What fun! As was making this card! I layered Garden Green, Basic Black, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze card stock (all from Stampin' Up) with designer paper by K&Company called Ancestry.com Teal Floral & Newsprint Flat Paper. My images (Sassy Hatter and Wonderland Tea Party) were printed on white Staples card stock and colored with Prismacolor Art Markers. For accessories, I utilized a few of my Spellbinders Nestabilities (Small and Large Long Classic Rectangle, Labels Three) and Earth Tones Fancy Fibers from Stampin' Up. I had a great time playing along and everyone who completed all four steps of the relay will be receiving a special SSD prize at the end - a Crissy's Prom image from yesterday's new release! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and it was amazing to see the creative entries from the other talented participants. You can check them out here. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Wednesday!
