Classic Dad

Hi!  Stopping by with another quick card I made featuring My Favorite Things Stamps products.  This was a card for my son's father for Father's Day.  I enjoyed working with the Soda Pop Bottles so much that I broke them out again!

This time I used the one that looks like the Coke bottle.  I cut it from dark brown card stock and created the label from white with red ink.  I cut a straw from vellum.

I based my card design on sketch #393 from Freshly Made Sketches.

Picture Perfect Dad

Hello!  Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there!  We spent the day with mine, celebrating with a cookout.  I have been feeling much better, eating healthier, and trying to get some walking in every day.  Still easing back into the crafting, but I did make a card for my dad for Father's Day.

I'm loving all the My Favorite Things goodies I've acquired in the past few months and I have been trying to participate in their challenges when I can too.  Today I decided to play along with their current sketch challenge.  Here's my take on sketch #441.

I colored up the cute monkeys from the Picture Perfect set.  The sentiment is from the retired All About Dads stamp set.  All dies used are from MFT too.  The Dad one is also retired.

Die-namics Used:
A2 Stitched Stax Set 2

The Paper Shelter Extravaganza

Hi!  I have decided that if every day were 48 hours instead of 24 I might actually get some things accomplished!  Like blogging my non-design team cards!  I have such a back log of them that I don't even know where to start!  Ok, so maybe I'll start here with The Paper Shelter.  I've got a couple of school themed cards followed by miscellaneous craftiness for varying occasions!

Up first is the card I made for my son for back to school.  He went back last week, but traditionally (when I was growing up) the week after Labor Day was when classes started.  This cute image is In the Class and he is colored with Copics.

And thank goodness for the teachers who spend 6 hours a day with our precious littles and teach them things, often giving so much of themselves in the process.  I always try to make and give teacher appreciation cards and gifts twice during the year - once for National Teacher's Appreciation Day and once for the last day of school.  (They usually get cards and treat for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day too!  Because they deserve it!) . This card was for my son's 3rd grade teacher at the end of school this past June.  This image is Vintage Teacher and she is colored with Copics.

A Joint Venture

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially mine!  As usual, I waited until the last minute to make a card for the occasion.  As I rushed around today wondering how I was going to get everything done before we left for the family cookout at my brother's, Kayne offered me the perfect solution: "Mom.  Can I color the picture for Papa's card?"  What could be more special than something colored by your grandson and crafted into a card by your daughter, right?  So we created together and I love the result!

Kayne picked the image from among some Saturated Canary digis I had printed for him to color.  He selected Joey.  I don't think my dad is particularly fond of soccer, but it was the little man's choice and we went with it!  He used his Crayola markers and crayons to color him.  (He asked to use my Copics but mommy said "no"!  Lol)  I thought he did an awesome job!

I designed the rest of the card, with a little help from Kayne.  He wanted me to use the alphabet dies (My Favorite Things) to spell out "Papa" which is what he calls my dad.  I cut the image using Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used a few other dies: Stars Five Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Star Cluster (Tim Holtz for Sizzix); and Lattice Doily Border, Heart Banner, and Ric Rack (La-La-Land Crafts).  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and is cut with Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things).

We had a wonderful day with my family and my dad loved his card.  I think maybe I should be collaborating with my budding artist more often!

Real Men Like Doilies

Hey there!  I'm finally sharing my dad's Father's Day card.  In August.  And yes, Dad, those ARE doilies!  I'm pretty sure you can handle them.  I made this months ago obviously and gave it to him in June, but I'm just getting around to blogging it now.  I colored up Luka World Traveler from La-La-Land Crafts and fussy cut him.  He is popped up on foam squares on top of Classic Circles and Cogs Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used a few LLLC dies as well: Heart Doily Border, Heart Doily, Heart Banner, and Hot Air Balloon.  The mustache is a Memory Box die. Papers are Echo Park Paper Company - Seasons.  The pennant flags are a sticker from Me & My Big Ideas.  It was perfect because my son calls him "Papa"!  Finally, I added some metal embellishments from Tim Holtz: buckles, game spinners, clock keys, and compass coins.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E35, E37, E39, Y28, G03, G05, G07, B63, B66, B69, N0, N2, N4, N6

Dad

Hi!  Sorry I've been quiet this week.  It was a busy one and a spur of the moment trip to the drive-in movie theater cut into my crafty/blogging time (but was SO worth it).  It was my small man's first time and at 4-1/2 I was a little concerned about how he'd do.  The first movie started after his normal bed time, after all.  But not only did he make it through BOTH movies but he was charming company the entire time!  I'll share some photos at the end of the post, but for now, back to the card.  It was made for my son's dad.  Since they went to the carnival this Spring I selected Carnival Dad from KennyK to color up.  He is colored using Copics.  Papers are Basic Grey - Hey Boy.  I used a sketch from Digi Sketch Challenge and they had an optional For the Men theme.  The letters that spell "dad" are cut using the By The Letters alphabet Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  The sentiment is from one of those $1 Studio G sets and is cut with Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).

And my little guy even wrote in the card himself this year!  So cute!  He also painted a rock for his dad that read "Daddy Rocks" (with a little help from Mommy).  Pinterest is a lifesaver for these kinds of things!

Thanks for stopping in.  I'll be back with another post today as well as a new Corrosive Challenge tomorrow!  I'll leave you with those drive in photos that will make you nostalgic for your own childhood!

My Boy

Hello!  Another week is kicking off here now, but I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  We had a wonderful one full of family and celebrating my dad for Father's Day.  I used my custom image from Saturated Canary to make a card for him.  This is My Boy and Krista drew it for me as a prize from a contest she had a while back.  She captured my small man to a "T", right down to his favorite blankie and Teddy!  I colored the image with Copics and then cut it using Labels Seventeen Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and added some Shabby Blue Frantage.  I used one of the Fancy Tags dies (Spellbinders) behind the image.  Papers are My  Mind's Eye - Lost & Found: Portobello Road.  The current Sweet Sketch Wednesday (HERE) is my base and I added a few elements like the Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts and the sentiment from a Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments Father's Day Centers set that was in my physical stamps stash.  I finished up with gold metal brads from Tim Holtz and a length of blue gingham ribbon.

And, here is the inspiration for the image:

We took my dad out to breakfast with one of my brothers (who actually paid for us all!  Thanks, Jay!) and then spent the rest of the day at my parents'.  Kayne made his papa a special gift and I snapped a photo of the two of them.  He painted the rock himself and was very proud of his handiwork.  The gift was a big hit!

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful dad and it makes me so happy to see the great memories he's building with the next generation too!  Thanks for stopping by and check back for another Father' day card to be blogged before the week is out.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! We are hanging out with the family for a Father's Day cookout. My dad went to breakfast with me and my brother this morning too so it's been a day filled with yummy food!

I have two cards to share with you today. The first is for my son's father. Kayne specifically asked that I make one and I could not
decline such a sweet request. Kayne also made his dad a handprint canvas.

The card features Star Boy Luka from La-La-Land Crafts. I love this little guy!  He is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and matted on top of the Star Circle Nestabilities die with foam squares. Papers are Recollections - Comic Heroes. I also used my trusty Fishtail Banners Die-namics. I added a chipboard sentinent snd foam letters. The sketch is Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #186.

This next card is the one I made for my dad.  This image, Papa and Me from A Day For Daisies, reminds me so much of my son and my dad!

The image is just so sweet! I have a picture of them walking just like this, minus the suspenders and slingshot! I cut it out using  my Labels Twenty One Nestabilities from Spellbinders. I sponged the background with Baja Breeze ink and traced around the edge of the die for a bit of doodling. Papers are Simple Stories - Summer Fresh.  I kept the embellishments simple with just a couple of buttons and die cut letters.

I am still blogging from my phone so be patient with me. I hope everyone is enjoying their day, celebrating with the special dads in your lives!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

Hello!  Still no Internet here so I'm taking some time at my parents' to draft posts.  I have been busy this week so far- lots of crafting going on here!  This card is a Father's Day request I received from a co-worker.  I was asked to use an RV image and a travel theme.  After a quick search for an image, this was the resulting creation.  Papers are DCWV Travel Stack and the layout is the June sketch from The Stamp Spot.  I added a fishtail flag banner with the Dad sentiment and a couple of Tim Holtz metal embellishments.  Masculine cards are not my thing, but I was pretty happy with how this came out, given the strict parameters I was given.

Thanks for stopping by and check back for more crafty goodness soon...

Markers used: Copics (Y11, Y23, Y28, Y38, YR24, N0, N2).
