The Corrosive Challenge #226 - Pile It On

Hi there!  How is everyone today?  I'm happy it's Sunday, but wishing I didn't have a Summer head cold and lack of sleep bringing me down.  Regardless, I will be getting outside today as it is a perfect one out there!  Maybe a good dose of Vitamin D will do the trick!  Before I don the sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray I wanted to stop by with my creation for the latest Corrosive Challenge, though!

This fortnight we are welcoming back sponsor Aurora Wings!  I'm a huge fan of Mitzi's work and I have quite the collection of her digis.  I may have to invest in one or two of her coloring books too.  Doesn't that sounds like fun?!  You can find all her goodies in her Etsy shop HERE.    Go ahead, browse and make a wish list.  Mitzi is generously offering a $15 gift voucher to our winner!!!

Our theme for the next two weeks is one I had A LOT of fun with!  It's "Pile It On"!  That can mean different things to different people and we are leaving it up to your interpretation.  Pile on the embellishments, layers, other challenges, or any combination.  Just be sure to tell us in your post how your project meets our criteria.  I colored Rose Fairy 2 from my collection for this challenge.  Mitzi offered the team images to work with, but I decided it was time to color one of the beauties I already owned.  She is colored with Copics and matted with two layers.

As you can see, I really did pile it on!  There are a plethora of dies and embellishments on the card!  I was happy to use several of my dies from La-La-Land Crafts (Lattice Doily Border, Lattice Border, Heart Doily) as well as the picket fence Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  I also popped a butterfly from a Martha Stewart punch on there too.  Embellies abound with a sheer runched ribbon, resin frame, flowers, bling, and Tim Holtz goodies (Type Charms, Compass Coins, Game Spinners, Pen Nibs, Corners). I sprinkled a little Aged Rose Fran-tage around the sentiment, which is from a Little Darling Rubber Stamps set - Vintage Affections: Enchanted Wishes.  The papers are Brenda Walton - Madeline (K&Company).

If CAS is your thing, this challenge may give you pause, but it was super fun!  And with such a fabulous prize up for grabs it's worth the effort!  Visit the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team stacked up and just a head's up that our design team call is still going on until the 14th!

Thanks for visiting!  Enjoy your day!

The Corrosive Challenge #215 - Shiny and New

Happy 2015!  I hope everyone's new year is off to a fabulous start!  I have already managed to finish reading my first book and make my first card of the year so I'd say mine is right on track so far!  Welcome to the first Corrosive Challenge of the year!  We are so very happy to have one of my very favorite artists back as our sponsor: Aurora Wings and the fantasy art of Mitzi Sato-Wiuff!  Mitiz has generously provided the design team with images to work with and is offering a $15 gift voucher to her shop for our winner!

Our theme this fortnight is "Shiny and New".  There's a little wiggle room with this one.  You can make a project for something new (marriage, baby, new job, new house, etc) OR you may use something new on your creation OR you can add something shiny to your make.  (Or any combination of these options works for us as well.)  I selected Anti-Valentine's Girl and decided to make a divorce card with her.  I know...  Divorce isn't something that we typically "celebrate", but sometimes the new beginning it gives us is just what we need, whether we realize it or not.  So when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.  Or, at the very least, open your mailbox to a handmade card from someone who's been there, done that, and is thinking of you!

Mitzi's gorgeous image is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The image panel is matted on Beaded Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I am all about the "shiny" with my bling and the glaze on the heart.  My "new" is the designer papers which are called Something Wonderful by Teresa Collins.  Santa left this lovely 6x6 pad in my stocking and this is the first time I've used it.  The unusual, yet perfect, sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set called Twisted Threesome.  My sketch is courtesy of Sketch Saturday (#342).  I used my favorite Martha Stewart Drippy Goo border punch too but you can't really see it when all my layers were added.

I hope you'll take a trip over to the blog to see what my teammates created and maybe play along while you're there!  I also hope you're enjoying your weekend!  We got some snow and ice last night so today seems like a great day to stay cozy at home.  I should probably take down these Christmas decorations, but I think I'd rather spend it at my craft desk.  There's always next weekend to put the lights and baubles away...

Aurora Wings Christmas

Hi again!  Happy New Year's Eve!  The holiday season is almost over, and that makes me a little sad.  I am looking forward to the new year, but I always miss that special glow and cozy warmth that the holiday decorations give.  I guess it's no surprise then that I'll jump right into Valentine's Day when the last of the Santas and snowmen are packed away!

Before we ring in 2015, though, I have a few more Christmas cards to share.  I simply adore Mitzi's work over at Aurora Wings!  I used three of her gorgeous images to make special creations this holiday season!

First up is Mistletoe Fairy.  She is colored with Copics and cut with Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used Fleur De Lis Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders) to mat the image.  Papers are DCWV - Christmas Basics stack.  I used the Martha Stewart Icicles border punch as well as the Tim Holtz On The Edge File Tab die.  The metal Label Pull is also Tim Holtz.  Eucalyptus Stickles, flowers, bling, and a wood veneer sentiment provide the finishing touches for this card.  *Side note: I also had to use a white gel pen on her berries as I accidentally colored them red!*

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, R43, R46, N0, G03, G05, G09, G29.

Christmas Tree Sprite was colored with Copics for Kayne's Kindergarten teacher. (We also gave him Play-Doh for the classroom as well as a gift card and homemade treats for himself!)  I stamped a Teresa Collins snowflake in Distress Ink around the edges of the image panel and heat set some Shabby White Fran-Tage.  The image is matted with Lacey Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used the current layout from Sketch n Stash (#155) for my design.  As for the stash part: those little Christmas lights have been in my embellishment box for quite some time and I was happy to have the perfect excuse to use them!  I finished with a wooden veneer sentiment.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E27, R20, R32, R43, R46, RV66, N0, N2, N4, Y28, Y32, Y35, Y38, B06, G03, G05, G09, G29.

And for my small man, I used Little Santa.  The lil cutie is colored with Copics and the image panel is sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found Christmas Special Edition.  Sketch Saturday (#341) provided my layout.  I used Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders) to make the faux buckle.  Cherry Cobbler seam binding (Stampin' Up) and a Martha Stewart ornament border punch supply the rest of the details.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E25, E31, N0, N2, N4, N8, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89.

Thank you to every one of my followers for a wonderful 2014!  I'm wishing each of you a safe, healthy, bright, and happy New Year!
