KennyK's Krafty Krew #196 - Anything Goes with a Twist: One for the Boys

Hey there!  June 1st means another KennyK's Krafty Krew challenge is upon us!  Want to win 3 digis?  Play along with any KennyK Downloads or Clear Stamps image.  Better yet, want to win 5 digis?  Use the optional twist to add 2 extra digis to your prize!

Super heroes seem like they are everywhere these days.  Maybe it's just because I'm the mom of a little boy.  Maybe it's because I recently went to the theater to see the new Anvengers movie at the theater and then not long after watched Guardians of the Galaxy on DVD.  I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do the myriad super hero themed Lego sets and action figures that litter my house.  Whatever the case may be, the small man had a classmate's birthday party to attend and the invitation featured classic comic book words and lettering.  So I was glad that the optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge is "One for the Boys" because KennyKdownloads has some AWESOME super hero images!

I selected Fist Hero to work with and colored him with Copics.  I fussy cut the image and used foam squares to pop him up on the card.  I sponges some ink to make a cloudy sky then used the Skyline Border Die-namics (My Favorite Things) to create a city scape for him to fly over.  Sketch Saturday is letting you choose from archived sketches this week so I went way back with #216 from 2012.  Papers are Comic Heroes (Recollections).  A few other dies were used in the making of this card as well including Mini Film Strip (Tim Holtz), Stars Five and Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders), and Fishtail Flags Banner Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called Boys Will Be Boys.

Hopefully the birthday boy liked it.  I think he will because when I was finished with it Kayne said, "Momma, it's so cool!  You are good at making cards!"  He knows just what to say to make my heart melt!  Pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the Krew's take on man town!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89, Y35, N2, N4, N6, N8, B02, B04, B06, B37

Teachers, You RULE!

Hello!  Happy (day after) Teacher' Appreciation Day!  I whipped up a couple of cards for Kayne's Kindergarten teacher and aide and I wanted to share them!  Of course I went with Saturated Canary images!  Because CUTE!  For Kayne's teacher I used Back to School Boy.  He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used the sketch from the latest Digi Sketch Challenge as my layout.  Papers are from the Grade School stack (DCWV).  I selected a sentiment from the Teacher's Pet stamp set (My Favorite Things) and cut it with Labels Twenty One Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I finished up with a button and baker's twine bow and a notebook edge punch (EK Success).  We popped a Staples gift card inside before delivering it so that Mr. M could buy some things for the classroom on us!

And we couldn't leave out the lovely aide!  She was treated to vibrant bouquet of primary colored daisies and this card!

I used another Saturated Canary cutie!  This is Beautiful World colored with Copics and cut using Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I created a sentiment using the same Teacher's Pet stamp set and stamped it directly on the image panel.  The Sketch Saturday (#359) sketch inspired me to use baker's twine in my design.  Papers are Something Wonderful (Teresa Collins) and I've added a crystal button for a bit of sparkle.

This whole week is Teacher's Appreciate Week (and Nurse's Appreciation Week too as it turns out!)  Take a moment to thank the ones in your life!

The Corrosive Challenge #223 - Hip to be Square

Hello!  I'm running a little late with my post for the new Corrosive Challenge!  We have an awesome new first time sponsor: Oddball Art!  Many of you know it's a challenge in itself for me to be punctual, but this time I did have legit reasons: an ink blob and a misbehaving printer were to blame!  Honest!  This version of Heidi Pinkyswear is the second one I colored after my Copic E47 decided to drip on her head!  Then my new Canon Pixma printer suddenly decided to stop printing from Word when I went to reprint her!  I swear it was a craft room mutiny!  After two hours of searching the Internet for a fix with nothing to show for it but building frustration, I gave up and went to bed.  Some things just are not meant to be!

The next day I was able to download Open Office as a work around, get Heidi reprinted and colored without incident, and finally made into a card for our "Hip to be Square" theme!  All you need to do to play along for your chance to win 3 digis from the lovely Lizzy Love is make a square project!  Visit her etsy shop HERE to see her fabulous images!

I made a humorous birthday card for a friend using Sketch Saturday (#358) as my starting point.  Heidi was colored with Copics and cut using Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Paper is from my stash.  I added a buckle and type charm from Tim Holtz as well as a couple of flowers.  The other two dies used were First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics (My Favorite Things) and Scallop Border die (La-La-Land Crafts).  The sentiment is also from MFT, a set called More Essential Sentiments.

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see just how square the design team can be!  While you're there, join in the fun!

Copics used:  E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, RV34, BG10, BG72, BG75

The Corrosive Challenge #221 - Hop into Spring

Hi there!  It may still feel like Winter here but Spring has sprung at The Corrosive Challenge!    Our theme this fortnight is "Hop into Spring"! (Even though we got several more inches of snow yesterday!)  For this challenge, make any Spring inspired or Easter creation to play along!

Our sponsor is the always delightful Sami Stamps!  Sami Siemers Ratliff is the owner, and if the images look a little familiar it is because she is the younger sister of Tammy from A Day For Daisies.  (Such a talented family!)  Sami has a Bachelor's Degree in Illustration.  Per her blog, "My inspiration comes from those things around me that make me happy in hopes that it might brighten your day.  We believe in surrounding yourself with the things that inspire and make you happy."

Sami is offering our winner the generous prize of a $12 Gift Certificate to her shop!  She was also kind enough to provide each of the design team members with an image of their choice.  I selected Egg Bunny.  This cute little guy is going to be Kayne's Easter card.

He is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  He was then mounted on Classic Circles and Lacey Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and popped up with foam squares.  The picket fence is the wood grain Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  I also used the First Place Ribbon Die-namics and the Hoppy Easter stamp set, both from MFT.  Fran-Tage in Shabby Blue adds a bit of texture behind the image.  A couple of buttons from my stash are my only other embellishment.  Papers are The Blossom Song stack (DCWV) and the layout is inspired by the current Sketch Saturday (#354).

The Greeting Farm Day Off Anya

Hello there!  How is everyone?  We are in the middle of Snowpocalypse here in New England!  It started Monday afternoon and is supposed to last until Wednesday morning, dumping 16-24" of white fluffy stuff on us!  So we'll be hunkered down for the duration!  Perfect time to hopefully get some coloring in!  For now, I'm here to show you my last guest designer project for The Greeting Farm!  It was such a pleasure to create with them this month and I'm sad my time is over!

Today's card features Day Off Anya.  In retrospect it was perfect timing to work with her as I will be having a snow day!  (Although, I think I'll need warmer clothing than the sweet little outfit she has on!)  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I took my color cues from the fabulous paper by My Mind's Eye.  It's called Follow Your Heart - Be Amazing.  The sketch is the current Sketch Saturday (#345).  The circle element was cut using the Picot Edge Circles and Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I added a bit of ribbon, a stamped sentiment, a few flowers, and a bit of bling for my finishing touches.

I want to thank TGF team for this amazing opportunity!  I had so much fun coloring up these cuties and rediscovered my love for rubber and ink!  You should visit the shop and the blog and you'll see exactly what I mean!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E53, E55, E57, E59, R20, N0, N2, N4, N6, Y32, Y35, BG10, BG72

Saturated Canary Guest Designer Call

Hey there!  When I saw Krista post that she was having a Spring Guest Designer call on the Saturated Canary Facebook group I knew I wanted to create something to enter.  She offered five gorgeous images as a New Year's bundle and you had to use one of these images in order to apply.  You could submit up to three projects.  I managed to get two completed.

First up is May.  She is colored with Copics and matted on the Fleur De Lis Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I opted for a non-traditional hair color which was a lot of fun!  I sprinkled a little Aged Rose Fran-Tage on my image panel and added lots of embellishments.  Flowers, Tim Holtz locket keys, Basic Grey wax seal and flair sticker all grace this beauty.  I utilized a few more dies and punches in the creation of this card as well: First Place Award Ribbon and Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things) and a Martha Stewart butterfly.  The papers are Basic Grey - True Love.  The sketch is the current Try Stampin' On Tuesday (#201).

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, YG91, YG93, YG95, R20, R27, R29, R46, R81, R83, R85, BG10, BG72, BG75

My next card features Tunes and Kayne has claimed this one as his Valentine's Day card.

This cutie was also colored with Copics.  I cut him out using Deckled Rectangles Large (Spellbinders).  I used it to cut a frame for the image as well.  I had an "accident" while coloring and a blob of ink from my YG11 plopped onto the card stock near his left headphone.  Rather than scrap the image I added a little golden aura around him.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday (#343).  I used a chevron embossing folder from Darice for the top portion and the paper on the lower section is from the Generation Tech stack (DCWV).  The music note and treble clef are stickers from Me & My Big Ideas.  Both sentiments are from a My Favorite Things set called Document It - Rock On.  I cut one with the Fishtail Flags Stax (MFT) and the other with a Stampin' Up circle punch.  The little hearts came from the Martha Stewart border punch I used on the inside of the card.

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E31, E33, R20, N0, N2, N4, Y32, Y35, B00, B06, B32, B34, B37, YR00, YR02, YR15, YG11, YG13

I will be back tomorrow with another announcement and a new KennyK's Krafty Krew challenge!

The Corrosive Challenge #215 - Shiny and New

Happy 2015!  I hope everyone's new year is off to a fabulous start!  I have already managed to finish reading my first book and make my first card of the year so I'd say mine is right on track so far!  Welcome to the first Corrosive Challenge of the year!  We are so very happy to have one of my very favorite artists back as our sponsor: Aurora Wings and the fantasy art of Mitzi Sato-Wiuff!  Mitiz has generously provided the design team with images to work with and is offering a $15 gift voucher to her shop for our winner!

Our theme this fortnight is "Shiny and New".  There's a little wiggle room with this one.  You can make a project for something new (marriage, baby, new job, new house, etc) OR you may use something new on your creation OR you can add something shiny to your make.  (Or any combination of these options works for us as well.)  I selected Anti-Valentine's Girl and decided to make a divorce card with her.  I know...  Divorce isn't something that we typically "celebrate", but sometimes the new beginning it gives us is just what we need, whether we realize it or not.  So when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.  Or, at the very least, open your mailbox to a handmade card from someone who's been there, done that, and is thinking of you!

Mitzi's gorgeous image is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The image panel is matted on Beaded Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I am all about the "shiny" with my bling and the glaze on the heart.  My "new" is the designer papers which are called Something Wonderful by Teresa Collins.  Santa left this lovely 6x6 pad in my stocking and this is the first time I've used it.  The unusual, yet perfect, sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set called Twisted Threesome.  My sketch is courtesy of Sketch Saturday (#342).  I used my favorite Martha Stewart Drippy Goo border punch too but you can't really see it when all my layers were added.

I hope you'll take a trip over to the blog to see what my teammates created and maybe play along while you're there!  I also hope you're enjoying your weekend!  We got some snow and ice last night so today seems like a great day to stay cozy at home.  I should probably take down these Christmas decorations, but I think I'd rather spend it at my craft desk.  There's always next weekend to put the lights and baubles away...

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E50, E53, R20, R22, R24, R32, R43, R46, Y32, Y35, N0, N2, N4, N6, BG01, BG10, BG13, BG72, BG75).

The Corrosive Challenge #208 - Autumn/Fall

Hello!  I know I've been super quiet lately!  I'm still trying to adjust to our new schedule and there has been a lot going on behind the scenes this month!  I did manage to get a card made for our newest challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge!  One of my favorite sponsor is back so I had to play along!  This fortnight we are welcoming The Paper Shelter!  Not only were we given our choice of two image to play with but there is a $20 gift certificate up for grabs for our winner!  They are also currently having a Design Team Call!  Details can be found HERE.  I'm entering as I love these adorable images and would be thrilled to have a place on the team.

The theme is another favorite of mine: Autumn/Fall!  I love this season and I'm so happy it's here!  I selected Autumn Attitude and she is colored with Copics.  I sponged the sky/clouds behind her in Baja Breeze ink using a template my teamie Michelle made for me some time ago.  The sketch is Sketch Saturday (#327).  Papers are The Pumpkin Patch stack (DCWV).  I added a Martha Stewart border punch, a leaf, and a bling flourish.

Be sure to head over to the challenge blog and check out the autumnal splendor on display!  The small man and I are headed off for a hike today with one of my brothers and his new furbaby to enjoy a little bit of Fall ourselves!

Have a Koala-ty Birthday

Hi!  Things are still pretty busy here so I'm just posting a quick birthday card that I made for a friend.  She loves koala bears and when she saw this image on Facebook a while ago I knew it would be her card this year.  This cute little guy is Huggy Koala from Meljen's Designs.

He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also used the Classic Circles dies as well plus a Martha Stewart border punch.  Sketch is from Sketch Saturday (#323).  I kept embellishments simple, just adding a few flowers.  Papers are DCWV - Birthday Wishes stack.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you've had a wonderful week!

Markers used: Copics (N0, N2, N4, R00, R20, R81, R83, R85, YG03).

Just Keep Swimming

Hi, again!  Just popping in quick to share the cards I made for Kayne's swim instructors.  He went there 4 weeks ago being a little afraid of the water and left yesterday jumping in the water, going underwater, and swimming on his own (with the assistance of a bubble still, but HUGE progress).  I wanted to thank his two teachers so I colored up a couple of images and threw together cards.

The first features Little Swimmer from Saturated Canary.  She is colored with Copics and I applied Glossy Accents to her goggles and the puddle.  Sketch is Sketch Saturday (#322) and papers are My Mind's Eye - Surf's Up and Breaking Free.  I added some Lemondrop baker's twine, flowers, and bling.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, a set called Teacher's Pet.

The next card was made using Stamps by Aurora Wings' Merbaby image.  He is colored with Copics also.

The sketch is based on Sunday Sketch & Stamp (#214).  Papers are Graphic 45 By the Sea collection.  I added Eucalyptus Stickles to his tail.  Embellishments include flowers and some Martha Stewart punches.  The sentiment is the same as the previous card and is stamped on a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (also MFT).  A sprinkling of pearl "bubbles" was the finishing touch here.

Thanks again for visiting!  Have a lovely day!
