The Paper Shelter Extravaganza

Hi!  I have decided that if every day were 48 hours instead of 24 I might actually get some things accomplished!  Like blogging my non-design team cards!  I have such a back log of them that I don't even know where to start!  Ok, so maybe I'll start here with The Paper Shelter.  I've got a couple of school themed cards followed by miscellaneous craftiness for varying occasions!

Up first is the card I made for my son for back to school.  He went back last week, but traditionally (when I was growing up) the week after Labor Day was when classes started.  This cute image is In the Class and he is colored with Copics.

And thank goodness for the teachers who spend 6 hours a day with our precious littles and teach them things, often giving so much of themselves in the process.  I always try to make and give teacher appreciation cards and gifts twice during the year - once for National Teacher's Appreciation Day and once for the last day of school.  (They usually get cards and treat for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day too!  Because they deserve it!) . This card was for my son's 3rd grade teacher at the end of school this past June.  This image is Vintage Teacher and she is colored with Copics.

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Flowers for Mom

Hello!  How is everyone doing?  We are half through the week!  And has it been a hectic busy one!  There has been quite a bit of coloring and crafting going on for design team projects and orders.  I even partook in a 12 Days of Coloring Challenge!  But today I'm popping in to share my most recent design team inspiration for Make It Crafty!

I received several orders for Mother's Day cards and keeping with the Flora theme for this month's MIC challenge I selected Flower Corner Arrangement to work with.  I opted for a mostly monochromatic color scheme in blue (with just a hint of green and gold, like my eyes).  I kept it simple and added just a few dies.  All are from La-La Land Crafts (Fancy Doily Border, Build-A-Frame Fancy Large, Honeycomb, Filigree Crown, Filigree Hearts) except for the Mom word die.  The latter is from SugarPea Designs.  I finished with a few enamel dots as embellishments.

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday: One for the Girls

Hello!  Happy Monday!  I'm back for week two of my guest designer spot with La-La Land Crafts!  Today the theme is One for the Girls.  Here in the US we celebrate Mother's Day in May, but in the UK they honor their moms at the end of March so this theme fits perfectly!

I decided to get ahead of the game and make my mom's Mother's Day card even though it's still two months away.  I colored up Owl Hat Marci for the occasion.  Anyone who knows me knows I tend to be a last minute crafter so this is a big deal that I'm so early!  Lol  Marci's super cute and was a blast to color!  My supplies are listed below.  I dug deep in the embellishments drawer and pulled out some old pink pearl brads for the corner.  The memo pin is from Tim Holtz.  The lace and flowers are from my stash.

Head over to visit the La-La Land Crafts Inspiration and Tutorial blog HERE to see all the amazing creations from the DT as well as awesome tutorials.  There are new posts for both weekly!  Then join us on Facebook where LLLC has a Facebook page HERE and a Facebook group HERE where you too can share your La-La Land Crafts projects!

The Corrosive Challenge #224 - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Happy Mother's Day!  I'm sharing my make for The Corrosive Challenge a little late today because it was a card for my mom and I didn't want to ruin the surprise.  This fortnight we are sponsored by the bewitching Nikki Burnette of Spellbinding Stamps!  She has generously offered up 3 images for our winner as well a provided images to the team.  Nikki's digis can be found HERE.

Our theme is one that is properly befitting for such enchanting images: "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic".  Just include something magical on your creation and you're in!

I choose to work with Portrait of Morrigan.  She is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) then matted on Star Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I love having a chance to use items from my die collection and was able to incorporate ones from La-La-Land Crafts (angel wings), My Favorite Things (fishtail flag banner), and Hot Off The Press (feather) as well!  Papers are Graphic45 Steampunk Spells.  I added a few flower plus a mini gear and some word stickers from Tim Holtz.  The sentiment is from Little Darlings Rubber Stamps and a set called Enchanted Wishes.

It was a whirlwind weekend and I am exhausted!  A six hour day of tee ball activities on Saturday was the start of it.  Now it's Sunday night and I'm wondering where the weekend went!  I hope all the beautiful moms out there had an amazing day!  I enjoyed mine and spending time with family!

Pop over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see the other magical creations from the team and if you feel inspired, play along!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Poppy Elf

Hi!  I have been a busy little bee.  This month is flying by and I seem to be behind on everything, including blogging!  Here is the last of the Mother's Day cards... The card was delivered on time; I'm just late blogging it.  I colored up the gorgeous Poppy Elf from Stamps by Aurora Wings.  She is matted on the Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Rectangles (Spellbinders).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing: Tangerine.  I added a big orange flower and some rhinestone flourishes.  The sentiment is again the circle Mother's Day freebie from Netty's Cards.  The fabulous sketch is Time 4 Scrap. The had a special Scrapbooking Day challenge that included the amazing layout you see above!

With several cards still waiting to be blogged, four pending orders, and several belated birthday cards on the To Do list (not to mention my design team work) it's going to be even busier this week!  Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by!  I need a nap already.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, E39, R20, R24, R27, R29, R35, R39, R32, Y35, Y38, B00, YG61, YG97, YR02, YR04, YR07, YR15, YR18).

Queen for the Day

Hey there!  How is everyone's week going so far?  It's been a busy one here so far, and I've fallen behind in my blogging so I thought I'd take a few to share another Mother's Day card I made.  This one was for a co-worker's wife from him and his daughter.  I selected Saturated Canary's Queenie and Princess to color.  He told me his wife is not just "Queen For A Day" but Queen for Always".  And I guess that would make his daughter a princess!  So, perfect, right?

The image is colored with Copics and cut using the Labels Twenty Two Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used a circle sentiment freebie from Netty's Cards.  It is cut using Classic Cirlces Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I love my new Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Lovely View die!  It is also by Spellbinders, exclusively for LDRS!  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Penny Lane.  I added a few flowers from my stash plus flower ribbon and a metal crown from Tim Holtz.  And let's not forget a bit of bling for these adorable royals!  I put a touch of Stardust pen on the princess' veil and added a Recollections rhinestone corner.  I missed the link up for the sketch but it's Sketch N Stash (#138).

Krista's images are some of my favorites to color and work with!  She has been releasing new images every Saturday and it has been hard to resist!  So why try, right?  lol  I'm waiting for one special image to make it's appearance...  Hopefully soon!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your week!  I have lots of crafting to do but I will try to pop in with my final Mother's Day card soon.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E34, Y23, Y28, Y32, Y35, B00, BG70, BG72, YG61, R20, R32, R81, R85).

The Corrosive Challenge #199 - Banner Day

Happy Mother's Day!  Wishing all you mamas out there a fabulous day!  We'll be celebrating with my mom and a little Chinese take-out.  It's supposed to be a gorgeous day so I'm looking forward to some sunshine, a bit of relaxing, and maybe even a little coloring before the day is over.  But right now I have a new Corrosive Challenge to tell you about!  We are welcoming sponsor, Sami Stamps!  Artist Sami Siemers Ratliff is the talent behind these wonderfully whimsical images.  And if the art work looks a little similar to another one of our much loved sponsors, A Day For Daisies, well that is because Sami is Tammy's little sister!  Lots of talent in that family, for sure!

Our theme this fortnight is a fun one - "Banner Day"!  It's as easy as throwing a banner on your project!  Sami graciously offered each team member an image to work with as well the $12 gift certificate she will provide for our winner!  I selected Comfy Cocoa for my creation.  This image reminded me of my mom and her love for coffee and yoga.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I once again added some Fran-tage embossing enamel to the image panel, this time in Aged Rose.  The sketch is #150 from The Deconstructed Sketch.  I've used a few dies on the card: Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things), Heart Banner (La-La-Land Crafts), Leaf Doohickey (Magnolia), and Tiny Shapes (Whimsy Stamps).  The latter coordinates with the Spell It Out alphabet stamp set I used for the "MOM" sentiment.  Papers are DCWV - Vintage Collector.

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what other banner creations the design team has to share with you!  And play along for your chance to win!

Since Kayne is little still I treated myself to some Mother's Day goodies - a trip to the salon for nails and a pedi as well as six Saturated Canary digis and a new Magnolia die (The castle!  I can't wait for it to arrive!)  But my sweet small man showered me with love only a preschooler can give!

Thanks for stopping in!  I'll have more cards to show off this week as I have at least half a dozen custom creations either done or in the works.  Hope to see you again soon!  Enjoy your day!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E70, E74, E79, R81, R85, BG10, BG13, BG15, BG70, BG72, N2, N4, N6, Y32, Y35).

The Corrosive Challenge #149 - Flowers and Doilies and Bling , Oh My!

Happy Mother's Day!  I want to wish all the moms out there a wonderful day of relaxation and pampering!  I hope that there are some new crafty goodies, and some crafting "me" time, in your future today!  And to help you along with that I'm here to tell you about a fabulous new Corrosive Challenge, sponsored by the awesome Tickled Pink Stamps!

This fortnight at The Corrosive Challenge it's "Flowers and Doilies and Bling, Oh My!"  Use at least two out of the three items on your creation and you could win the monthly prize for May!  TPS has generously offered 2 digi images of choice to our winner!  And you get the chance to be our guest designer for July as well!

My card is a Mother's Day card for my own mom!  I've used Easter Pinkette Daisy August from Tickled Pink Stamps and paired her with this month's sketch from Crafting Life's Pieces (#47).  Both were a lot of fun to work with!  August is my favorite Pinkette.  She reminds me of myself, I suppose.  Papers are Basic Grey - Lemonade.  I added flowers, a doily, and pearls in the center of the flower ribbon (for the bling).  The pennant banner was created using the Banner Day Die-namics die from My Favorite Things.  I placed some chipboard letters on top to spell "MOM".  The border punch is a Martha Stewart one and no creation of mine is complete without Tim Holtz, right?  lol  The metal corner is his.

I hope you'll visit both the Tickled Pink Stamps and The Corrosive Challenge blogs to see the amazing creations that my fellow design team mate have put together for you!  And I hope you'll play along!

I have this post scheduled in advance so that I can sleep in and then I'll be heading out to enjoy some family time and Chinese take-out.  Whatever your day brings, I hope it is fun-filled and happy!  Enjoy!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Basic Grey: Anything Goes
- Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge: #185-I Love You Mum
- Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays: Mother's Day
- Pattie's Creations: #43 -Mother's Day
- Simply Create Too: #13-Mother's Day (or Feminine)

A Mother's Love

Just a quick post to show off a card I made at the request of a co-worker.  It's for his wife for Mother's Day and they have two darling little girls.  When I saw this image over at A Day For Daisies shop, I knew I HAD to use it!  I would like to thank my friend Jasmine of Wasted Scraps for introducing me to these whimsical images (translation: I blame her for enabling me!  lol)

I decided to work with this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches (#145).  It was designed by my crafty friend and design team mate Kathy and is one of those fabulous sketches you can dress up or down and it still looks wonderful!  They had a "twist" to the sketch as well and that was to use a die cut.  The doily behind my image is a die from Cheery Lynn called French Pastry.  I kept card pretty simple since I decided to play along with the current A Day For Daisies challenge too, which is Crazy for Calico (#42).  I wanted you to be able to see the small print paper I used so that was why I kept embellishments to a minimum.  This is my first time joining in over there and I hope to do so again in the future as I am just smitten with their images!

My image is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers.  I added a few pearls, some flowers, and the sumptuous ruffled ribbon from Stampin' Up in Cherry Cobbler.

I have to run... It's almost time for work, but thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous!  I'll be back tomorrow with our weekly Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday image so be sure to check out our Paper Craft Planet group then.

The Corrosive Challenge #115 - Sketch Time

Happy Mother's Day!!! It is my second one, and every day I marvel at how blessed I am to have my small man in my life! I want to wish all the moms out there a wonderful day! May there be breakfast in bed and flowers and pretty jewelry boxes. Or simply, and best of all, that home-made card with the crayon scribble all over it! I received one that Kayne made in day care and it is the cutest darn thing!

Now, on to business... Being Sunday it's time for another Corrosive Challenge! It's #115, and it's Sketch Time! What a great layout Janet has provided us with this time around! AND it's her birthday weekend so she's offering up some candy! For every 10 entries in the challenge Janet will add another prize. So tell your crafty friends and have everyone play along! You'll want to go check out the blog here for details!

My card is actually a Mother's Day card. One of my brothers asks last night if I could make him a card for our mom! Typical, huh? lol He doesn't request cards often, but they are always last minute. But since he works on all my computer issues, I feel I owe him this when he does. So this is what I came up with. I guess I'm in a steampunk mood! I think she'll like it. How can she not? Dudley by artist Dustin Pike is debonair in his Victorian finest! (I think he was a freebie too!)

I'm also entering this in the Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #45 - Steampunk or Machines!

I hope everyone enjoys their day! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back this week because I will have blog candy for you as well as a Sassy Studio Designs new release on Saturday!
