Child of the 80s
Hello! Everyone has seen Krista's coloring contest going on over at the Saturated Canary blog, right?!?! If not, stop what you are doing and run, don't walk, to the SC shop and pick up one, two, or all three of Krista's new Fashion Decades sets! They are value priced for the duration of the contest at only $4 each! That's like getting one of the images in each set for free! To play along all you have to do is link a project featuring a personally colored version of one of these lovelies and share on social media! You have until July 21st to join in for the $20 gift vouchers that are up for grabs!
As a GDT member (*squeals with delight*), Krista very generously gifted these to us and of course I couldn't resist coloring up 80s Fashion Decade first! Most anyone who knows me knows how much I love the 80s! It contains so many fond memories for me... I'm totally a child (and teenager) of the 80s! Lol Because of this, even still as an adult, I have a HUGE love for all things 80s! I think my hair, well my bangs anyway, may have been just about as big! My image is colored with Copics and cut using Long Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders). In my new favorite style, I heaped on loads of fun dies and embellies! I was "totally stoked" to use two My Favorite Things Die-namic that were perfect for the 80s - Cassette Tape and Geek is Chic Glasses! Also featured are Heart Doily, Open Hearts Doily Border, and Wings set (La-La-Land Crafts) and Virtuoso Music (Memory Box). The coordinating stamp set from MFT for the cassette is called Playlist. I added some black lace (Ã la Madonna) and a few flowers. The sentiment sticker is from Me & My Big Ideas and the "80s" is done in black chipboard glitter stickers. And what 80s creation would be complete without some bright neon colors?!
I'm hoping to have time to create with some of the other decades as well! Ready to start your project? Take your pick: 40s and 50s, 60s and 70s, & 80s and 90s! Which one is YOUR favorite decade?
Thanks for popping in! I appreciate the visit! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far!
Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, R43, R46, B00, YG00, YG03, YG06, YG11, YG13, N0, N2, N4

It's my 40th birthday this week and to celebrate The Corrosive Challenge has teamed up with sponsor Sassy Studio Designs to bring you a totally awesome 80s to the Max birthday blog hop! There are LOTS of ways to win so be sure to stop by the challenge blog or SSD for all the details!
Lindsay, the owner and artist behind Sassy Studio Designs, has created a whole collection of 80s themed images as her August release just for this occasion! These images are so much fun and will bring you right back to the decade of distinctive pop culture, music, and trends! The winner of our challenge this fortnight will win the ENTIRE SSD 80s COLLECTION!!! (Can't wait to win them? You can purchase them HERE now!) To see all the gorgeous images being featured by our two righteous design teams, please join us for my birthday blog hop! The Sassy and Corrosive dudes and dudettes have designed some most excellent projects for you! A random comment will be selected from each blog to win that featured image! For another chance to win, we have five 80s themed trivia questions here and five more on the SSD blog. Answer them for a chance to win 4 images from the new release! There will be a separate winner from both blogs! Simply commenton the posts on The Corrosive Challenge and SSD blogs with your answers. Comments left that contain all 5 correct answers will be eligible to win and a random winner will be selected from among them!
And, finally, don't forget to show us your birthday creations featuring a number (can be either words or numerical).
Deadline for the hop and trivia is 11:59pm Eastern time on Saturday, August 10th. Winners of the blog hop and trivia will be announced Sunday, August 11th. The challenge will run for the usual two weeks and winners will be announced on Monday, August 19th.
I love the 80s... Gravity defying bangs and Aquanet. Bon Jovi and Corey Hart. *swoon* The Goonies on VHS and Jem on TV. MTV. When they actually played videos! Sweet Valley High books. The whole series! It is my favorite decade to date and I could go on reminiscing forever, but I suppose you want to see what I've created with these awesome 80s images!
I actually have two cards to share: one with the voluptuous Jessica Rabbit (which will be the image one lucky commentor wins from my blog) and another with our rockin' freebie, Boom Box Sassy!
Jessica isn't bad... She's just drawn that way! And then colored with Copics before being fussy cut. Her dress is amply covered in Xmas Red Stickles. I started with Sketch #81 from Papertake Weekly and went from there. I've used several dies (Floral Ovals and Classic Ovals from Spellbinders as well as Skyline Border and By the Number Die-namics from My Favorite Things). Papers are Creative Imagination Marah Johnson Love Conquers All. I added a couple of flowers and a MFT sentiment to finish off the card. This one will be going to my best friend's daughter next month. I'm told she is a fan of Miss Rabbit's!
My next card is for a very good friend who is also turning 40 this year (the day after me). I thought it would be fun to use the new Boom Box Sassy! This cutie will be given free to anyone who enters The Corrosive Challenge this fortnight! And she is SO me back in the 80s (only my jeans were MUCH tighter! lol)! Music was my thing and I still remember the pink boom box that sat on the headboard of my waterbed! Now if that isn't 80s, I don't know what is!
My image is again colored with Copics and fussy cut. I had such a fabulous time creating this! I finally got to use some My Favorite Things goodies that I bought at the beginning of this year. See that die cut cassette tape? That is their Accent It - Cassette Tape Die-namics paired with their Journal It - Playlist stamp set! I also used several other MFT products here: Birthday Sentiments stamp set (inside) plus Jumbo Scallops Border and By the Number Die-namics. Papers are the Birthday Wishes stack by DCWV. My layout is courtesy of Seems A Little Sketchy (#44).
Thanks for being here as I count down my final days as a "thirtysomething" and enter a new decade! Your next stop on the hop is the lovely and talented Kathy! When you're done, I hope you're in love with these fun images as much as I am and inspired to play along with us!
The small man and I are off to a birthday party this afternoon for a boy Kayne goes to day care with. This is the first party we've been invited to that isn't one of MY friends' kids. It's kind of exciting and stressful at the same time! This morning will be for making his card, wrapping his presents, and whipping up some Oreo truffles! See, I'm last minute with everything, not just my crafting! lol
So grab a cup of coffee... or tea... a glass of wine perhaps... (or Tang!) and settle in for a trip down memory lane! I'll be hopping myself later and I can't wait to see what the teams have created!
