Make It Crafty June Coloring Challenge: Animals

Hi there!  Welcome to another Make It Crafty Coloring Challenge!  This month Zoe has challenged us to color ANIMALS, and she assigned each member of the design team a special insider challenge.  You could be asked to focus on feathers, scales, or fur...  I was given fur to showcase.  I color more people than animals so this was a bit out of my comfort zone (Zoe likes to do that!  Lol) . I figured I could keep us both happy by coloring Carlie with Giraffe.

They are colored with Copics and cut using La-La Land Crafts Double Stitched Squares.  I added a MIC chippie as well as a few other LLLC dies.  Here I've used Open Hearts Doily Border, Lattice Border, World Heart, and Tree Branch.

Hope you liked my crafty inspiration!  Join us over at the challenge for your chance to win one of three $5 gift vouchers for the MIC shop!  To be eligible you must use at least ONE Make It Crafty product on your project and follow the challenge theme.  All coloring mediums are welcome and your entry does not have to be a finished project.  Enter our Animal coloring challenge HERE!

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Kick Up Your Heels

Hello!  Today I have some Make It Crafty Inspiration for you!  I decided to make a masculine card this time.  I know Mother's Day is in a couple of week's and Father's Day is over a month off, but I was inspired to use Tap Dancing Heel Click for a card for my dad.

The image is colored with Copics.  I added a bunch of La-La Land Crafts dies and one Tim Holtz On the Edge border die (Star Cluster).  The LLLC I used are Photo Elements, Skyline Border, Hello Tag, Lamp Post, Sunburst, Bracket (from Bracket and Arrow set), and Clipboard.  I also added one of Zoe's awesome chipboard sentiments.  This one is a cursive sentiment and it's a work of art all on its own!  I colored the mat with my B95 Copic and left the top as the natural cream chipboard color.

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Time to Celebrate

Hi again!  Popping onto the blog this evening to share another design team project- this time for Make It Crafty!  I colored up Zoe Party Girl for today's card.  She was so much fun and I enjoyed working with pink and orange together!

This little big-eyed anime cutie is named after our fearless leader and she is ready to party!  I colored her with Copics and then trimmed my image panel into a square before matting it.  I thought some angles would add nice visual interest so I turned the two layers in opposite directions slightly.  Of course I added my usual plethora of La-La Land Crafts dies as well as a sentiment created from MIC chipboard.  The dies featured here are Presents Border, Open Hearts Doily Border, Lattice Border, Filigree Candle, Filigree Bow, and Dress.

Make It Crafty April Coloring Challenge: Dew Drops

Hello!  I am here to share my Make It Crafty design team inspiration for this month's coloring challenge!  Zoe likes to really push us out of our comfort zones and encourage us to try new things.  Well, this month she absolutely succeed in giving me crafty anxiety!  Dew drops are the theme!  I have never before attempted this technique so what you're seeing is my first attempt.  Ok, well, not VERY first.  Two previous attempts with two different images ended up in the bin.  But I persevered and I am glad I did.  Don't give up!  Once you get a few under your belt, it really is an easy technique and adds a lovely detail to your image.

I ended up coloring this Peonies digital image.  I don't often color flowers so this project is a departure from my norm in several ways.  My coloring was done with Copics.  I followed some tutorials on how to create the dew drops.  (Zoe has included a couple on the challenge post to help you.)  I decided to make a Thank You card so colored up a Thanks single layered chipboard word sentiment.  I added a few La-La Land Crafts dies to my card as well.  Here I've used Scallop Border, Small Scallops Border, Lattice Doily Border, Heart Fan, Open Leaf Flourish, and Peacock Feather.

Enter our Dew Drops coloring challenge HERE.

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Treasured Friend

Hi!  I'm popping in with a quick share of my latest design inspiration for Make It Crafty!  I have been hit with yet another head cold this week which has thrown a bit of a wrench in my schedule.  After an epic night, which involved twelve hours of sleep and countless tissues, I feel ready to face the world.  From my bed.  In my pajamas.  From behind the computer screen.  But ready nevertheless!

For today's project I used the lovely Krista Smith image, Mermaid Sparkles.  I gave her purple hair because she is that cool!  Coloring was done with Copics. I added a MIC Friend single layered chipboard word and some chippie Tinklings Stars (also colored with Copics) plus a generous supply of La-La Land Crafts dies as well. The dies I used were: Lattice Doily Border, Lattice Border, Star Border, Seaweed Border, Wave Border, Stitched Elements, Sea Critters (Club Kit August 2017), Under the Sea, and Seaweed.

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Fangtastic

Hello!  Anyone who knows me knows Halloween is my favorite holiday!  It may only be March on the calendar, but it is never too early to be thinking about October!  Every year I say I am going to start my Halloween (and Christmas) cards early and then every year I still find myself scrambling last minute!  Well, not this year!  Here is my first Halloween card for 2018 featuring Mini Dracula from Make It Crafty!  He is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares.  I also used a MIC chippie which reads "fangtastic".

Dies are all from La-La Land Crafts except for the Weathered Clock Bigz die and Drip Edge Thinlits by Tim Holtz (Sizzix).  The LLLC ones are Ornate Border Large, Tombstones, Frightful Fence, Eerie Bats, and Spider Web Border.  The blood spatter was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

Make It Crafty March Coloring Challenge: Spring Skies

Hello!  It's March and where I live there's no telling what we are going to get weather-wise.  After we were just buried under over a foot of snow this week, I am seriously wishing for something a little more Spring-like!  It seems only fitting that our Make It Crafty coloring challenge this month is to create Spring Skies (with white puffy clouds, of course)!  I had never done this before so was a little nervous, but with some guidance (check out Zoe's awesome Coloring Skies eBook HERE, now on sale with the coupon code from the challenge post) it was much easier than I expected!

I combined a couple of MIC images to create my beachy scene.  I colored Avery at the Beach and Beach Umbrella with Copics then used the markers to create a sky as well.  And who can resist those gorgeous chipboard word sentiments?  Not this girl!  I added the single layered word Love, also colored with Copics.

I was able to squeeze in a few dies, too!  All are from La-La Land Crafts.  I used Love Owl Tag, String of Hearts Border, Heart Header Border, and Heart Doily Border.

Enter our Add Spring Skies coloring challenge HERE!

Make It Crafty: New Release Blog Hop

We're Celebrating Friendships with a Hot Cuppa and a fun Make It Crafty blog hop!  You should have arrived here from the lovely Sadia's blog.  (If you've gotten lost, the complete list is at the bottom of this post.)

One of my favorite past times with friends is sitting around, having a cuppa, and chatting.  I am more than happy to do this via social media (and often do) but it's hard to beat that face to face interaction with a friend.  Nothing is better than literally getting to LOL with a friend IRL.  You get to see their body language, facial expressions, and hand gestures, all while drinking way too much coffee!

I don't see my friends, near or far, nearly enough in my opinion.  So it's nice to be able to send them some love in the mail and that is where my cards come in!  There is nothing like receiving a handmade gift to remind you how special you are!  And I can tell you that giving them makes me feel pretty good too!

With that in mind this month we are releasing some awesome chipboard sentiments focused in friendship, coffee, and tea!  And thanks to artist Krista Smith there are some fabulous new release images to go along with them!

Please join us on the hop and be inspired to win one of two fantastic prizes!

Be sure to leave comments along the way and Zoe will be picking a winner from two random posts!  Winners will be announced and contacted on Thursday, February 22nd so get hoppin'!

For my project, I printed Coffee and Yarn (the version without the yarn, bag, and glasses) a bit larger than I normally would and cropped her.  She was then colored with Copic markers.  All dies used are from La-La Land Crafts.  Here I've featured the following: Coffee Cup, Coffee Beans Heart, Napkin (from Spoon and Napkin set), Triangle Lace Border, Sunburst, Stitched Nested Circles, and Scallop Border.  And of course that gorgeous chippie is from Make It Crafty!  I also colored the sentiment with Copics, but there are so many options to choose from when finishing your chippies!  From Stickles to Glossy Accents to Distress Inks and more!  They are so fun to work with and you can find something perfect for every occasion by combing them with each other or with stamped sentiments!

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Hello Sunshine

Hi there!  It's been a busy week with Valentine's Day in the middle of it all, but I still found some time to color up this gorgeous new digi from Make It Crafty!  I don't usually color flowers so this one was a bit different for me, but I loved the challenge!  Zoe has a whole selection of gorgeous new floral images in the shop!  She has all the elements available separately so you can build your own or you can choose from several gorgeous pre-made options like the one I've used here!  Hello Flower Arrangement is colored with Copics and popped onto a relatively CAS (for me!) card.  The only dies I've used are two from La-La Land crafts: Filigree Elements Border and Filigree Border.  The fun part was deciding which awesome chipboard word to pair with it!  I could have used "Beautiful" or "Gorgeous" but I finally settled on "Sunshine"!

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Starla's Candy Hugs

Hi there!  How was everyone's January?  I can't believe the first month of 2018 is almost behind us already!  We'll be kicking off a new Make It Crafty coloring challenge in a couple of days, but in the meantime I have a little design inspiration to share that involves creating scenes!

Now, I was SUPER reluctant to venture out of my comfort zone and create a digital scene but Zoe pointed me in the direction of her amazing tutorial using Microsoft Word (or a similar word processing program) and I was astounded at just how easy it actually was to do! Check out Zoe's MIC tutorial for yourself HERE!   My computer that I use for crafting runs on a Linux operating system so I don't have access to MS products.  I use a free download of LibreOffice for my office suite needs. This tutorial worked for me so don't worry if you use another word processing program.  The main principles still apply.

I chose to work with Starla's Candy which is one of the Krista Smith images that is available in the MIC store and pair it with the Candy World Castle background.  Both are colored with Copics.  Though this amazing scene could have stood on its own on a card I decided that I still wanted to embellish with my trademark layers of dies.  With the exception of the peppermint candy, which is a Martha Stewart punch, and the Star Circles Nestabilities from Spellbinders, all of the other dies used are from La-La Land Crafts.  Here I've featured Filigree Hearts, Filigree Crown, Loopy Doily Border, Stitched Clouds, Star Border, and Double Stitched Squares.  And of course I had to add a fun MIC chipboard sentiment as well!  I colored the chipboard with my Copics so it would match my project.

I hope you like my creation and may be inspired to create a scene of your own soon!

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Sweet Girl Primrose

Hello!  I am here to share a little Make It Crafty inspiration!  This weekend Zoe released some new Krista Smith images .  There are three of them: Jillian Creates, Primrose, and Violet's Red Rose.  And they are all perfect for Valentine's Day!  I am waiting on an order of chippies so I can really get to work on my Valentines but I couldn't resist printing out and coloring up Primrose in the meantime!  I will be stalking my postal carrier for sure, though.  Waiting for new crafty supplies is always such sweet torture!  Lol

She is colored with Copics and cut using the Stitched Nested Circles die from La-La Land Crafts, matted with Lacey Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Almost all of the other dies are from LLLC as well.  On this card I've used Filigree Border, Scalloped Banner, Love Doves, Ornate Border Large, and Heart Fan.  The treble clef is from a Memory Box die called Musical Motifs.

I had to dig into the chipboard I have left to find the perfect words for this card and luckily I came up with "sweet" for the image banner and "girl".  I colored both with Copics.  I dabbed the base for "girl" with Memento Rich Cocoa ink the coated the pink colored portion with Glossy Accents.

Don't forget that the monthly coloring challenges are back and for January the theme is SKIN!  We hope you'll play along!  Thanks for checking out my most recent creation!

Make It Crafty January Coloring Challenge: Skin

Hello!  I am thrilled to be announcing that I am back on the Make It Crafty design team - this time as a full-time MIC gal!  Thank you, Zoe, for having me!  In November MIC kicked off its coloring challenges with "Glow" followed by a fabulous "Sparkle" theme in December!  Did you see?!?!  There were some gorgeous entries!  This month we are back with a new challenge theme: Skin!  I tend to use the same color combo for skin tone every time I color.  For my project today, I needed a darker skin tone so I had to shake up my Copic colors!

This awesome digi is Biker Dad.  You can find him in the MIC store and he's perfect for any guy (dad or not) who love motorcycles!  As usual, I have loaded up the card with dies.  All the ones I've used here are from La-La Land Crafts (Skyline Border, Steampunk Border, Happy Stitched, Double Stitched Squares, Fancy Numbers, Arrows, Gears Heart, and Steampunk Corner).  I also used two chipboard words from Make It Crafty!  I colored "birthday" and "celebrate" with Copic BG75 and then coated them in Turquoise Stickles.  These words are so amazing and such fun to work with!  They are super versatile and you can combine them with stamps, dies, or other chipboard to create custom sentiments.  MIC also has a fabulous line of chipboard shadow boxes and little houses that you can build and decorate!

Enter our Skin coloring challenge HERE!

Pretty Pumpkin

Hello there!  I'm just popping in with a quick share.  Yesterday I BOOed one of my coworkers.  If you've never been BOOed it's basically a gift left with the instructions to pass on the fun to someone else by bestowing a gift on them.  It's supposed to be anonymous but since my love for Halloween is well known and I would have been figured out anyway, I decided to make a card to go with the treats.  They can be anything you want: homemade baked goods, candy, little trinkets...  Here is what I did.

A black cat tealight holder, kitty ears, fun socks, a chocolate bar, and a card.

The image is one of Krista Smith's that is available from Make It Crafty and she is called Pretty Pumpkin.  I colored her with Copics and then cut her out using Wonky Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbiders).  The Pumpkin circle at the top is also from Spellbinders.  The rest of the dies are from La-La Land Crafts (Pumpkins Border Filigree Border, and Stitched Zigzags).  The chipboard BOO! layered word is from Make It Crafty as well.  I colored it with Copics to create an ombre purple effect and then covered it with glossy accents to make it shine.  I really wanted the image and chipboard to stand out so I only added a few sequins as embellishments.

My co-worker loved her goodies and I can't wait to see who she passes on the fun to!
