Valentine Showcase

February is almost over so I wanted to share the Valentine's Day cards I made before we move on to the next season/holiday!  I received some orders for custom cards and here is what I created.

For the first card I colored Bumble Bee Marci from La-La Land Crafts and fussy cut her.  The cute little bee die is also LLLC.  To create the rest of the sentiment I used chipboard words from Make It Crafty.  The Valentine is a layered chipboard, done in white embossing powder on a background colored with a black Copic marker.

A Year's Worth of Krista Smith

Hi there!  Happy 2019!  I know I've been quiet.  I needed a bit of a break from blogging.  I needed to recover from the holidays!  Lol  I love them, but I feel like I'm non-stop from October through December!

At the end of 2018 I said good-bye to two of my design teams.  My term at Some Odd Girl was up and I stepped down from Make It Crafty.  I adored being on both teams but working a 40+ hour work week and having all those deadlines was starting to catch up with me.

I am hoping that a little free time in the new year will allow me to really focus on my remaining design team and to have a chance to finally share all of those OTHER cards that I make throughout the year.  I always seem to have a backlog of them.

Today I'm going to catch up on some Saturated Canary/Krista Smith projects.  I literally have a dozen of them to share with you!  This first one actually goes back to 2017!  I'll be darned if I can find any of the other specifics now, but the image is called Beach Hat.  All dies used are from La-La Land Crafts.

Here is a card for a tea party themed birthday and a girl who loves donuts!  Talk about going straight to your hips!  I can't remember the name of this image, but I think it was something along those lines.  Again, all dies are from La-La Land Crafts.  The chipboard sentiment is from Make It Crafty.

Another birthday card here.  I saved this one as Cozy Lights, but that may or may not be the name of the image.  I literally have over a thousand Saturated Canary/Krista Smith images and sometimes it's hard to keep track!  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

Here's a cute winter themed one I made for a ski bunny, which also the name of the image.  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts. (Are you beginning to see a pattern yet?!  Haha!)

I've been experimenting more with some clean and simple style cards.  Here is one such attempt using Lisa's Giraffe.  The chipboard sentiment is from Make It Crafty.

This was a good-bye card for a coworker.  Though she wasn't even alive yet in the 1970s, this 70s Vibe image captured her beauty and spirit perfectly!  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

This darling birthday card was for a sea lover.  Sweet Sailor Girl was perfect.  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

And then we have one for a golf lover using Tee It Up.  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.  (Incidentally I seem to like this paper for this image as this is the second time I have created a card pairing the two!)

My easel card using the Pitcher image.  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

This is my son's birthday card from last year.  He is Fortnite obsessed and as soon as I saw this piñata Die-namics from My Favorite Things Stamps I knew I had to buy it and make a Loot Llama to go with this image from Krista's Patreon subscription.  The stencil is also from MFT Stamps and the other dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

Almost done...

I made an anniversary card for a baseball fan using Spring Ball.  All dies are from La-La Land Crafts.

And finally, a sweet, simple birthday card using Dreads.

Phew!  We did it!  Thanks for sticking with me until the end! I hope you have enjoyed the cards.  If you would like to acquire new images from Krista so that you can color and create, be sure to check out her Patreon where you can choose from different tiers.  Patreon is great site because it gives fans of artists a way to support their favorites and receive exclusive content in the process!

Look for more projects from me using Krista's work in 2019!  Have a great weekend!

Krista is Back!!!

Hello!  I was so excited to see that Krista Smith started a Patreon and is offering exclusive character art for download to her patrons!  I am one of her biggest fans and this is amazing news!  While I have continued to use her images from my beloved collection of digis, I missed there being new images available!  This will satisfy all her fans who love to color her art as there are different tiers (ranging from $5-$25) you can sign up to pledge per month.  The exclusive rewards vary for each tier so you decide what you want and what works best for you!  If you want to check it out and/or sign up, visit her page HERE!

I have a backlog of cards made with her images that need to be blogged.  My design teams tend to keep me so busy that I put off blogging the other things I create.  I thought I should probably start trying to rectify that!  I needed a baby card for an order for a baby shower.  This is what I came up with.  I cropped and colored one of Krista's images from my stash.  This gorgeous momma-to-be is called New Love.  Can I just say...?  OMG, THAT HAIR!  It was a little daunting at first but I was really pleased with how it turned out!  This card was for a first time mom having a "rainbow" baby (a full-term pregnancy after a miscarriage) so I added the rainbow but it also works well for a regular baby shower as well.  The stitched rainbow die is from My Favorite Things Stamps.  The image is cut and matted with Spellbinders Nestabilities.  All the other dies are La-La Land Crafts.  I dry embossed the background panel for some added texture.  The word baby is a chipboard sentiment from Make It Crafty.

I also made a baby boy version, changing my colors and using a SugarPea Designs die cut to make the baby part of the sentiment.

Make It Crafty Design Team Inspiration: Never Too Early for Halloween

Happy Father's Day!  I hope all the dads out there enjoyed their day!  We had a nice cookout to celebrate my dad!  It may only be June, but that would never stop me from creating Halloween projects!  Today I have one to share with you for my Make It Crafty design team inspiration!

I colored Elphaba by artist Krista Smith with my Copics, fussy cut, and used foam squares to give her some added dimension.  I have been rediscovering working with sketches again recently and this card layout is courtesy of Cheerful Sketch Challenge.  This is their June sketch and you can find it HERE.

I also couldn't resist adding one of Zoe's terrific chipboard sentiments!  I created Best Witches from the Halloween Adapt-a-Word set.  I used my white gel pen to color the chipboard.  The diecuts used today are Pumpkin Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and Spiderweb Border and Pumpkins Border (La-La Land Crafts).

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Country Mama

Hi!  I can't believe another month is coming to a close!  This year is just zipping by!  I'm checking in here at the end of May to share more Make It Crafty design team inspiration with you!  Anyone who knows me knows I can't resist Krista Smith's images!  I'm sure I'm not the only fan who is beyond excited that she continues to sell select images through MIC!  Today I have colored up Country Mother (minus her little one).  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I really wanted the patterned paper to be visible so I simply used foam squares to pop her up on top of it.  The dies are all from La-La Land Crafts.  I've used Sunburst, Groovy Border, Stitched Pennants, Hot Air Balloon, Scallop Border, and Heart Handles.

Make It Crafty Inspiration Design: Treasured Friend

Hi!  I'm popping in with a quick share of my latest design inspiration for Make It Crafty!  I have been hit with yet another head cold this week which has thrown a bit of a wrench in my schedule.  After an epic night, which involved twelve hours of sleep and countless tissues, I feel ready to face the world.  From my bed.  In my pajamas.  From behind the computer screen.  But ready nevertheless!

For today's project I used the lovely Krista Smith image, Mermaid Sparkles.  I gave her purple hair because she is that cool!  Coloring was done with Copics. I added a MIC Friend single layered chipboard word and some chippie Tinklings Stars (also colored with Copics) plus a generous supply of La-La Land Crafts dies as well. The dies I used were: Lattice Doily Border, Lattice Border, Star Border, Seaweed Border, Wave Border, Stitched Elements, Sea Critters (Club Kit August 2017), Under the Sea, and Seaweed.
