The Corrosive Challenge #200 - Anything Goes {And A Blog Hop}

I was assigned Simply B Stamps.  Ok, so not so much "assigned" as requested.  Well, insisted, really.  I haven't had occasion to work with one of Betty's images in a while so when she offered a $20 gift voucher for the hop, I was thrilled!  She also generously allowed me to select an image to work with!  I choose  Sleeping Beauty from the Steampunk Fairytales and Myths collection.  These are drawn by artist Abigail Larson.  

Sleeping Beauty is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  My layout is based on the Sketch File's May sketch (HERE).  I used my Classic Ovals and Floral Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders) as well as a couple of butterfly punches from Martha Stewart.  I then added plenty of flowers, some pearls, a metal filigree corner, and two pins.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Everyday Tango.

Steaming To Sweden

Hello!  I'm just popping in to share a card I made for my lovely crafty friend Susanne in Sweden!  This is our second card swap, and I was really excited about it!  I selected an awesome JadeDragonne image to work with.  This is Steampunk Hat, and she's colored with Copics, fussy cut, and matted using Classic Ovals Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  And despite the title of my blog post, I'm pretty sure she took a jet fueled, and not steam powered, ride across the Atlantic!  The layout is courtesy of Stempelsonnen Challenges (#109).  I am just linking it up now due to the time it took my card to travel overseas, but I'm glad I made it with a few hours to spare!  It's a great design and was fun to work with!  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Six by Six: Paris & Co.  I was SO excited to use my new La-La-Land Crafts Heart Banner die!  I sponged some lace with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added flowers from my stash as well as a couple of Tim Holtz metal gears.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.

 
Susanne messaged me to let me know she loved the card!  I am still waiting on hers to arrive, which is ironic since she sent hers before I did.  I guess you just never know when customs is involved.  I will be stalking my postal carrier until it lands in my mailbox!  

Before I say goodnight, I have some amazing news to share that I am super excited about!  Many of you know that I love Krista Smith's Saturated Canary images.  She recently had a giveaway on her blog for a custom clock, designed in collaboration with the winner, and created by Krista herself!  Well, guess what?!  I WON!  OMG, OMG, OMG!  I am over the moon and cannot wait to start working on it with her!  Thank you, Krista, for being such a sweet, generous soul, for sharing your talent with the world, and for just being so darn fun!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 6

Worlds collide on Day 6 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps!  Well, maybe that's a bit over-dramatic but two holidays certainly do!  Think Nightmare Before Christmas as Halloween and Christmas collide in "one jingle brained bag of fun"!  We were instructed to make a Christmas treat box or bag.  (No cards or layouts were allowed for this challenge.)  And we had to "creep it out"!

I decided to work with Draco the Ghost from the original Halloween Steampunks collection.  His debonaire and dashing Victorian attire made me think of A Christmas Carol.  He is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Christmas.  I used foam squares to pop him up on top of a Spellbinders Labels Ten die that I embossed in the Swiss Dots folder.  The sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Midnight Feast set was inked on one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags and also popped up.  I also added a large doily medallion from Jolee's Boutique and some gorgeous black and white ribbon.  Cheese cloth in lieu of tissue paper enhances the creep factor.

It was really cool to see our jack o'lanterns out on display.  The Cyclops came home with us, but sadly the cat suffered some sort of mishap and was not salvageable.  Though it was fun to make something for Christmas, er, Creepmas, I'm not done celebrating Halloween yet!  Just wait until you see what we're up to next weekend!  And speaking of Christmas, stay tuned tomorrow for a brand new creation and a GDT spot that I am over the moon about!  Until then...  I'm off to bed!

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 4

Toe tag, you're it!  That is the theme of Day 4 of the 13 Days of Halloween over at Simply B Stamps!  I hardly ever make anything this small and with my love of embellishments this one was a challenge for me.  I colored up Rio Gone Batty from SBS's A Roberts Halloween Steampunk collection and stamped a few spider webs from Martha Stewart's Elegant Witch stamp set around the edges of the image panel.  Then I added the sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  It's from a set called Wanda's Pantry.  A couple of flowers, a die cut spider web from Cheery Lynn Designs, and a black chandelier bead complete my tag.

It was a long day at the circus!  I think I enjoyed it more than my small man, who seemed a bit bored by the whole thing.  Maybe he's still too young or maybe the circus just isn't his thing.  His favorite parts were buying his souvenir dragon sword and the cotton candy complete with silly hat!  I'm off to get ready to watch my favorite new show, Witches of East End, and then there will be more crafting.  I hope to get sleep at some point too!  lol  I'll leave you with a few Instagrams of our day "under the big top"

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 2

Day 2 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps is hard core!  Eyeballs and Body Parts!  Ewwww!  I opted for eyeballs since I had some on hand...  Um, that didn't sound quite so creepy in my head!  Anyway, I had these fabulous Halloween googly eyes in my stash just begging to be used!  I originally selected my image, Little Lavinia from the Steampunk Classic Collection, because she was holding an eyeball balloon.  But once I had the image colored and everything laid out I decided to lose the balloon and make her loli an eyepopping one!  (Pun intended.)  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Sketch Saturday (#279) provides my layout.  Papers are Wicked  from My Mind's Eye.  I used one of my favorite Martha Stewart border punches then added a few flowers, a pair of pearls, and a couple more eyeballs for good measure.  My favorite part of this card is the brilliant sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  It's a set called Wanda's Pantry and I love it!

This is such a fun month, and I'm looking forward to all the festivities to come!  The small man and I had a quite weekend but we did watch some Halloween movies.  The Nightmare Before Christmas and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown both did time in our DVD player!  I also watched the premier of Witches of East End last night and I am enthralled!  I immediately put the book on hold at my library too!

It's going to be a busy week!  I have lots of crafting to do plus there's another premier that I cannot miss- American Horror Story: Coven!  Perfect timing for both of these shows, although I would watch them any time of year!  Just like I'd make Halloween cards whenever!  But there is something special about making them in October, and I can't wait to see what Betty has in store for us for Day 3!

The Corrosive Challenge #181 - Steampunk

Hey there!  Okay, birthday week is over and I had a fabulous girls night away/beach day at the ocean last weekend so I am recharged (though a year older) and ready to go!  And go I did- right back into some serious crafting!  I've made four cards in as many days along with working and all my momma duties.  Today I have a new Corrosive Challenge to share with you, though!  We are super excited to welcome back one of our favorite sponsors: KennyKDownloads!  Sexy and funky and oh so fun!  Just like me.  *wink*

Our theme this fortnight is "Steampunk"!  I love this style, all vintage and modern at the same time.  There is something about it, Victorian elegance paired with gritty anachronistic retro-futuristic technology, that is just so cool!  Kenny K's Steampunk Burlesque collection is a perfect of example!  Kenny and Elena were kind enough to provide the team with several images to create with.  I actually already had one printed from the newest Steampunk release when I was a lucky gal and got to be one of their guest designers so I decided to color her up.  This is Savannah Belle.

She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  One of the things I love about creating Steampunk cards is that I get to pile on the embellishments, especially my beloved Tim Holtz metal goodies!  Here I have used quite the assortment: Time Pieces, Gears, Game Spinners, Corners, Trinket Pins, and the Weathered Clock die, which I sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I also added a few flowers and some bling swirls.  Papers are from a new DCWV stack, Dark Romance.  A couple of Spellbinders dies were utilized as well- Sprightly Sprockets, which I recently picked up on clearance at Joann's, and Grommet Tags.  The sentiment is from the Victorian Steampunk Sentiments by the now defunct Tickled Pink Stamps.

Guest Designing for KennyK's Krafty Krew

Hi!  I'm excited to share today!  I was asked by the lovely Elena to be a guest designer for the challenge today at KennyK's Krafty Krew!  I LOVE KennyK's images and I'm especially fond of the sexy Steampunk Burlesque collection!  So when Elena contacted me about being a guest for the release of three new steampunk images, I jumped at the chance!

I have selected the sexy sleuth, Inspector Em.  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are from DCWV -  The Rustic Stack.  I thought they had a vintage feel to them that would suit a steampunk design well.  I've used lots of fun embellies on this one!  Tim Holtz is a god when it comes to grunge/steampunk/vintage and here I have used quite a few of his products.  On this card I've included a metal corner, a buckle, gears, a game spinner, and a swivel clasp as well as the Weathered Clock die. I sponged the clock with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.  The optical lens is from 7Gypsies and when I saw it at Michaels I knew I had to have it for this project!  I also added some flowers and bling since no card is complete without them!  The border punch is one of my favorites from Martha Stewart.  My layout is the current Deconstructed Sketch (DS111).

The Corrosive Challenge #179 - Fancy Folds

Welcome to another Corrosive Challenge!  It's amazing how quickly two weeks flies by but here we are again with another fabulous sponsor and fun theme!  This fortnight we are welcoming back Mayzy Art as our sponsor!

 Our challenge this time around is "FANCY FOLDS".  Thinks easel, center step, gate fold...  As long as there is more than one fold in your project, it qualifies!  I opted for my absolute favoritest of favorite folds - the center step.  There is a fantastic tutorial by Frances Byrne (aka StampOwl) HERE on splitcoaststampers and HERE on YouTube.  I love making these with two images on either side and something fun on the center panel.  Today I've used two of Mayzy's Steam Punk images, Xander and Meri.  They are both colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are from the DCWV Naturals stack.  The Steam Punk hot air balloon in the center is a Jollee's sticker embellishment and it sits on an embossed gear background.  I added a couple of flowers, a bit of bling, and a few Tim Holtz metal mini gears.  The metal sentiment is also Tim Holtz and reads " reality has limits; imagination is boundless".  The border punch is Martha Stewart.
