Ducky One

Hello!  How is everyone out there in blogland?  June has arrived and I'm hoping Summer weather will soon follow!  May was a busy month for me and I'm hoping to catch my breath, get caught up, and maybe even relax a bit.  I have a few cards to share over the next few days and thought I'd start with this cutie from Meljen's Designs.  This is Little Puddle Duck.  I needed a birthday card for a first birthday and was told the theme was "duckies".  So I popped over to the shop and into my cart fell these three digis!  Fancy Gift Box, Happy Birthday, and Little Puddle Duck are all colored with Copics and cut using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The main image is matted on a Picot Edge Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I added flowers, a feather, and a glittered chipboard number to complete the card.  The sketch is from Seems A Little Sketchy (#65).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Bramble Rose.

The small man was sick yesterday so we didn't do much of anything except cuddle and watch movies.  No complaints here on either count but it meant I had no ambition, energy, or mojo to sit at the craft desk after he went to bed.  Oh, well.  Today is a new day.  The weather and his tummy will dictate how we spend most of it, but maybe I can sneak some crafting in!

Markers used: Copics (Y23, Y35, YR02, YR04, YR24, R20, R32, R81, R85, N2, N4).

Holiday Chic: Sparkle with KennyK

Good morning!  I am thrilled to be guest designer again for KennyK over on their challenge blog: KennyK's Krafty Krew!  I was ecstatic when I found out!  Today they are releasing three new holiday images and you are going to LOVE them!  Visit kennykdownloads for a little retail therapy!  This fortnight the challenge is "Holiday Chic: Sparkle" and there are two fabulous sponsors:

FLONZ with a $20 gift certificate

and

KENNYK with 5 digis

It was a tough choice but I finally opted to work with City Star for my project.  I sat down having no idea what I was going to do, but this sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy (#50) really inspired me!  The image is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares (of course).  I added glitter to the "snow" areas and to the pompom of her hat for some sparkle on the image.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Christmas.   I thought they were classic, elegant, and chic- perfect for my creation.  I punched a few snowflakes with my Martha Stewart collection, added A LOT of rhinestones and the lovely Frostyville border from Memory Box, and I was done.  The Beaded Square die from Spellbinder works so well with bling or pearls and I just love the effect!

Want to play along?  Go visit KennyK's Karfty Krew and be sure to check out all the gorgeous makes from the team while you're there!  They are an incredibly talented bunch, and I am honored to be a guest among them this week!  You have two weeks to play along and a KennyK image is required.

Thanks for visiting!

Just Ducky

Another one?  Yup, I'm on a roll this week!  Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my co-worker.  She has a thing for ducks.  I immediately thought of Duck, Duck, Goose from Saturated Canary.  I colored these cuties with Copics and cut them out using my Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Two Nestabilities.  I also used my Classic Circles to cut out the sentiment (perfect, right?) from Create with TLC.  Papers are The Sweetest Thing: Tangerine by My Mind's Eye.  I added the usual - bling, flowers, metal corners - and used one of my trusty Martha Stewart border punches.  Sketch is the current Seems A Little Sketchy challenge (#46).

I can't believe how quickly this week is going by!  Summer is drawing to a close here and the kids are heading back to school.  Not mine.  Not yet.  But this time next year I will be sending him off to his first day of Kindergarten.  He has been in day care since he was six weeks old so I am used to not being with him during the day, all day, every day.  But the thought of school makes me realize just how quickly he is growing up!  He'll be celebrating another birthday soon and it seems like just the other day when I was bringing him home from the hospital.  He's morphed from baby to toddler to little boy right before my very eyes and sometimes I just want to freeze time.  Just for a bit.  I know I can't.  He won't be my little boy forever, even if he'll always be my baby, so I try to savor all the moments - big and small, treasure the memories, and look forward to what the future holds.  I take lots of pictures so that helps!  lol  Here's one from this weekend when he went minigolfing for the first time:

See, SO big!  Anyway...  off to start another day!  Thanks for visiting and hope you have a good one!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E31, E33, E34, R20, R24, R27, R29, R32, R43, N0, YR15, YR18, YR24, Y11, Y23, Y32, Y35, BG10, BG72, BG75).

And, finally, don't forget to show us your birthday creations featuring a number (can be either words or numerical).

Deadline for the hop and trivia is 11:59pm Eastern time on Saturday, August 10th.  Winners of the blog hop and trivia will be announced Sunday, August 11th.  The challenge will run for the usual two weeks and winners will be announced on Monday, August 19th.

I love the 80s...  Gravity defying bangs and Aquanet.  Bon Jovi and Corey Hart.  *swoon*  The Goonies on VHS and Jem on TV.  MTV.  When they actually played videos!  Sweet Valley High books.  The whole series!  It is my favorite decade to date and I could go on reminiscing forever, but I suppose you want to see what I've created with these awesome 80s images!

I actually have two cards to share: one with the voluptuous Jessica Rabbit (which will be the image one lucky commentor wins from my blog) and another with our rockin' freebie, Boom Box Sassy!

Jessica isn't bad... She's just drawn that way!  And then colored with Copics before being fussy cut.  Her dress is amply covered in Xmas Red Stickles.  I started with Sketch #81 from Papertake Weekly and went from there.  I've used several dies (Floral Ovals and Classic Ovals from Spellbinders as well as Skyline Border and By the Number Die-namics from My Favorite Things).  Papers are Creative Imagination Marah Johnson Love Conquers All.  I added a couple of flowers and a MFT sentiment to finish off the card.  This one will be going to my best friend's daughter next month.  I'm told she is a fan of Miss Rabbit's!

My next card is for a very good friend who is also turning 40 this year (the day after me).  I thought it would be fun to use the new Boom Box Sassy!  This cutie will be given free to anyone who enters The Corrosive Challenge this fortnight!  And she is SO me back in the 80s (only my jeans were MUCH tighter!  lol)!  Music was my thing and I still remember the pink boom box that sat on the headboard of my waterbed!  Now if that isn't 80s, I don't know what is!

My image is again colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I had such a fabulous time creating this!  I finally got to use some My Favorite Things goodies that I bought at the beginning of this year.  See that die cut cassette tape?  That is their Accent It - Cassette Tape Die-namics paired with their Journal It - Playlist stamp set!  I also used several other MFT products here: Birthday Sentiments stamp set (inside) plus Jumbo Scallops Border and By the Number Die-namics.  Papers are the Birthday Wishes stack by DCWV.  My layout is courtesy of Seems A Little Sketchy (#44).

Thanks for being here as I count down my final days as a "thirtysomething" and enter a new decade!  Your next stop on the hop is the lovely and talented Kathy!  When you're done, I hope you're in love with these fun images as much as I am and inspired to play along with us!

The small man and I are off to a birthday party this afternoon for a boy Kayne goes to day care with.  This is the first party we've been invited to that isn't one of MY friends' kids.  It's kind of exciting and stressful at the same time!  This morning will be for making his card, wrapping his presents, and whipping up some Oreo truffles!  See, I'm last minute with everything, not just my crafting!  lol

So grab a cup of coffee... or tea... a glass of wine perhaps... (or Tang!) and settle in for a trip down memory lane!  I'll be hopping myself later and I can't wait to see what the teams have created!

Little Monsters

There are monsters everywhere today!  On the big screen and on my cards!  We went to see Monsters University this afternoon and had so much fun!  Since monsters are on topic, I thought I'd share these two birthday cards with you.  I made them for my friend for her two boys, who she affectionately refers to as her "monsters".  The monster images are from a Recollections clear stamp set that I've had for some time now.

The first card features a layout from Seems A Little Sketchy (#42). The one-eyed monster is colored with Copics and cut out with Spellbinders Labels Nine Nestabilities.  Papers are Recollections Comic Heros.  I used another Spellbinders die for the stars (Stars Five) and a Martha Stewart punch for the star border.  The number 7 was made using the By the Number My Favorite Things Die-namics.  And of course, what monster is complete without a googly eye?!?!

And here is the other one.  This monster is also colored with Copics and googly eyed!

Sketch is from Mojo Monday (#299). Papers are Basic Grey - Lime Rickey (Hoboken and Tart & Tiny).  I used Spellbinders Classic Circles Nestabilities and My Favorite Things Fishtail Banners Die-namics.  The banner is embossed with a chevron pattern.  American Crafts Thickers and some fun ribbon complete the card.

Here are a couple of photos of my own little monster, having a monster of a good time today!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  It's a short week here in the US with the July 4th holiday!  I am looking forward to fireworks and barbeques!  Summer is in full swing and we are definitely enjoying it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey, Mo!

Well, the crafting frenzy continues here!  Yesterday I made three cards (two of which I will share with you now) and today so far I have colored six of the twelve images I need for the bookmarks I am making.  Of course, I can barely see straight at this point and I need to get this post written plus a card made before I can call it a night!

Today I have two cards created with Mo's Digital Pencil images to share.  Mo's Dream Team is holding a DT call and I thought it was time to dip my toes into a bigger creative pond and give it a shot!  I love Mo's adorable images so why not!?  The first card is a Mother's Day card using her Rustic Windowbox image.  This one is a beauty!  Love the country charm!  I colored it with Copics and added glaze to the window panes.  The image is cut with the Labels Three Nestabilities from Spellbinders and popped up with foam squares.  Sketch is courtesy of Cupcake Crafts current challenge (#241).  I thought the My Mind's Eye - Bramble Rose paper was simply perfect for the image!  The border punch is Martha Stewart and my only embellishment is a couple of flat back pearls.  This is the one I'd like to submit for consideration for the team.

My next card was made for Kayne's day care provider.  Today was Teacher's Appreciation Day and though it's not technically "school" she is absolutely a teacher!  So I baked some chocolate chip cookies and whipped up a cute card using Mo's For Teacher image.

He is colored with Copics.  Paper is from DCWV - Nana's Kids.  The sketch is #38 from Seems A Little Sketchy.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch and two Stampin' Up punches for the details.  I kept it pretty CAS, for me anyway, so you could see the cute alphabet paper better.

And finally, today's Blog Every Day in May challenge theme: The thing(s) you're most afraid of.

That would undoubtedly be one of two things: someone I love getting seriously sick or dying!  Now that I'm a mom, and now that I'm getting older, I seem to worry about this more than I once did.  How could I continue to breathe if something happened to my small man?!  How could anything fill the hole in my heart that would cause?!  There are other things that I'm afraid of: spiders, small rodents, things that slither, airplane take offs and landings, heights (except on roller coasters!  Bizarre, right?) but nothing else comes close to the chest-tightening, breath-shortening anxiety I feel because now I can't imagine my life without him.  Or his without me.  I too am only human and have no way of knowing what the future holds for me.  I do know it's an inevitability for all of us that one day we won't be here any longer, but it's one I'd prefer not to think about it.  And I'm hoping when it does happen, it's later than sooner!  Hopefully I didn't depress anyone too much with this post!  lol  But now that it's out there, what about you: What things are YOU most afraid of?

Markers used: Copics

Playing Catch Up

I know everyone else is watching football today but, despite living in Patriots territory, I really have no interest in the game.  So I thought I'd take some time to catch up on a few card created within the last month that I never got around to blogging.

First up is a Christmas card I created for my son's day care provider.  It features Winter Fairy Halla from Mo's Digital Pencil.  The image is colored with Copics and cut with a Classic Circles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - 'Tis the Season.  Seam binding and flat back pearls adorn the card.  The sentiment is from a Waltzingmouse Stamps set called Twas the Night Before Christmas.  Sketch is courtesy of Seems A Little Sketchy.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, Y32, E31, YG93, YG95, YG97, R29, BG10, BG13).

Next is a birthday card for a co-worker.  Blanche from Saturated Canary reminded me so much of my shoe-loving fashionista friend that I had to use her for this card!

Blanche is colored with Copics and cut with a Classic Ovals Nestablities and matted with a Lacy Ovals Nestabilities, both from Spellbinders.  The sketch was created by my amazing design team mate Kathy for our DT call over at The Corrosive Challenge.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Vanity Fair. Punched border is Martha Stewart.  The only embellishments this card needed were a few flowers.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, E04, E13, E17, E19, E23, E37, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97).

Here is another birthday card, but this one was a request from a co-worker for her mom.  I've used Artist London from Simply B Stamps.  She is from the Back to School Teen Scene collection.

She is colored with Copics and cut with a Labels One Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  The image on her easel is one from Tiddly Inks called Light My Life.  The border punch is Martha Stewart and I also used two dies from My Favorite Things, Dizzy Doily and alphabet.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Dolled Up.  I added a bling swirl, flowers, and a metal corner.  This is another layout from Seems A Little Sketchy.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21. E00, R20, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, E79, E37, E31, E23, Y35, R81, R85, V17, BG10, BG13).

Celebrating a first birthday is special and I wanted my cousin's daughter to have a card that was worthy of that.  Kai Is One (Girl) from Mo's Digital Pencil fit the occasion.

This little cutie is colored with Copics and cut with a Classic Circles Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  She is then matted with a Picot Circles Nestabilities, also from Spellbinders.  The papers are My Mind's Eye - Fine & Dandy Girl and I paper pieced her party dress using the polka dot pattern.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  I added some glittered chipboard letters to spell out her age.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E13, E21, N2, N4, N6, N8, R20, YR15).

And finally, a birthday card for my son's day care provider.  I see now I used the same papers as her holiday card!  lol  This is Latte from Saturated Canary and I thought she was perfect for a winter birthday.

She is colored with Copics and cut with a Lacy Ovals Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  I sponged some Pool Party ink around her.  Paper is My Mind's Eye - 'Tis The Season.  I also added pleated ribbon in Riding Hood Red, flat back pearls, a flower, and a Tim Holtz metal corner.

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, R24, R27, R29, BG10, BG13, BG15, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, E23, E33, E31).

Phew!  Okay, that was quite a backlog of cards!  Hope you enjoyed my creations.  I am off to watch a movie with the small man.  Yup, still no football here!
