Back to School

Hi!  It's September 1st and for me that is the symbolic start of the Fall and Halloween seasons!  Confession time: I have actually had Halloween decorations up since last week!  Lol Hey, life is short.  Find joy where you can!

School started here last week too.  My son entered 5th grade!  Where IS the time going?!?!  Our tradition is to have a big back to school breakfast every year.  He had bacon, pancakes, strawberries, the works!  I also make him a special card to kick off the school year.

This year I selected Laptop Tobie from Some Odd Girl.  Tobie is colored with Copics and cut using the Double Stitched Squares die from La-La Land Crafts.  The papers came with my Lawn Fawn order as freebies and happened to be fun patterns with perfect colors to coordinate with the 5th grade sticker I used. I love serendipitous things like that!

I used Sketch #165 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday for my layout.

I have a goal to clean and organize my craft room this month so I can get back into the swing of things.  I'll keep you posted!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Monthly Make It Challenge: September

Hello!  It's been a busy week!  Now that I no longer have the commitments of running a design team or being a PTG board member, I decided that I needed to make some time for me.  I am trying to make a conscious effort to become more active over at Kit and Clowder - taking coloring classes, participating in the monthly book club - and with my favorite stamp companies.  This includes starting to enter some challenges again.

Today I am sharing a card I made for the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Monthly Make It Challenge over on Facebook in the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends group.  Kim challenged us to an Anything Goes theme with one stimpulation...  We had to use one of the new releases from July or August.  I chose to work with WitchyPoo!

This is an image by artist Annie Rodrigue.  She was originally released in red rubber, but recently Annie updated her and Kim released her a clear set accompanied by some fabulous sentiments!  I colored WitchyPoo with my Copics and fussy cut her.  She is popped up on foam dies.  I have layered on a few dies from my collection, of course.  Here I've used Stars Border, Filigree Border, Filigree Moon, Bats, Koi Circle, Spider Web Border, Fancy Label, and Stitched Nested Circles all from La-La Land Crafts.  For embellishments, I added a bit of lace and some black enamel dots.

I used the September sketch for my card as well.  All the details about KKS weekly challenges and the month long sketch can be found on the blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been up to!  Have a wonderful weekend!

KennyK's Krafty Krew #197 - Anything Goes

Hello!  Apparently when you have a school age child, June is just as hectic as the holidays!  I have been running around non-stop since Wednesday and this week looks like a repeat performance!  With the school year wrapping up and activities coming to an end I'll be needing a few cards.

Luckily, KennyK's Krafty Krew has the perfect challenge for you if you'll be in a crafting frenzy like me!  We usually have a twist, an optional theme that can earn you additional prizes, but this time there is NO TWIST!  Just "Anything Goes" with a KennyK Downloads digi or Clear Stamp!  Our awesome sponsor is none other than KennyK Downloads with a prize of 5 digis of choice for our winner and 1 digi each to our Top 3 picks!

I needed a card for Kayne's tee ball coach.  The season is over and we had a party/award ceremony on Saturday.  I thought it was really something special that he donated his time and effort to these kids in the instructional league and I wanted to thank him for it.  I colored up the super cute Batter Up for the occasion!

He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I kept it simple since I was pressed for time.  The layout is courtesy of Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (HERE).  Papers are American Crafts and the sticker is a Snap Shot from Paperhouse.  I added a piece of jute string and a few red adhesive pearls to finish it off.

And here's the gift we gave the coach!  I went with mostly baseball themed goodies: peanuts, Cracker Jacks, sunflower seeds, Baby Ruth candy bar, Big League Chew bubble gum, and a Dunkin Donuts gift card.

I have another busy week ahead so stay tuned to see what I'll be creating along the way!

Thanks for popping in and enjoy your Monday!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, R20, R24, R27, R29, R46, R89, N0, N2, N4, N6

KennyK's Krafty Krew #196 - Anything Goes with a Twist: One for the Boys

Hey there!  June 1st means another KennyK's Krafty Krew challenge is upon us!  Want to win 3 digis?  Play along with any KennyK Downloads or Clear Stamps image.  Better yet, want to win 5 digis?  Use the optional twist to add 2 extra digis to your prize!

Super heroes seem like they are everywhere these days.  Maybe it's just because I'm the mom of a little boy.  Maybe it's because I recently went to the theater to see the new Anvengers movie at the theater and then not long after watched Guardians of the Galaxy on DVD.  I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do the myriad super hero themed Lego sets and action figures that litter my house.  Whatever the case may be, the small man had a classmate's birthday party to attend and the invitation featured classic comic book words and lettering.  So I was glad that the optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge is "One for the Boys" because KennyKdownloads has some AWESOME super hero images!

I selected Fist Hero to work with and colored him with Copics.  I fussy cut the image and used foam squares to pop him up on the card.  I sponges some ink to make a cloudy sky then used the Skyline Border Die-namics (My Favorite Things) to create a city scape for him to fly over.  Sketch Saturday is letting you choose from archived sketches this week so I went way back with #216 from 2012.  Papers are Comic Heroes (Recollections).  A few other dies were used in the making of this card as well including Mini Film Strip (Tim Holtz), Stars Five and Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders), and Fishtail Flags Banner Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called Boys Will Be Boys.

Hopefully the birthday boy liked it.  I think he will because when I was finished with it Kayne said, "Momma, it's so cool!  You are good at making cards!"  He knows just what to say to make my heart melt!  Pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the Krew's take on man town!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89, Y35, N2, N4, N6, N8, B02, B04, B06, B37

The Corrosive Challenge #225 - Anything Goes

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  For those of us in the US it is a time to remember the fallen soldiers who have given their lives in defense of our country.  It is also the unofficial kickoff to Summer and we celebrate accordingly!  I will be heading off to a cookout later today and there is a parade and other festivities tomorrow.  The weather is supposed to be beautiful so I anticipate a lot of time outside!  But in case you are inside, and maybe sitting in your craft room, I want to tell you about the newest Corrosive Challenge that starts today.

Our awesome sponsor is KennyK (Downloads and Clear Stamps)!  Since I run that design team too you already know that I love KennyK's images!  Taking into consideration that it's the holiday weekend here we opted for a nice easy theme: "Anything Goes"!  If you play along, up for grabs is a prize of either 2 clear stamp sets or 4 digis!  Winner's choice!

I colored up one of the newer clear stamps.  This cutie is from the Let's Hang set.  Coloring is done with Copics and then the image was cut with the Deckled Rectangles Large Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The @birthdaygirl sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called @SoSocial (which has recently been retired).  The circle sentiment is from an Autumn Leaves set aptly named Sentiment Circles by Katie Pertiet.  I used my Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things) and Magnolia View Master Doohickey dies as well.  Finishing touches were a few flowers, bits of bling flourishes, and a wood veneer ampersand.  The layout design is courtesy of The Deconstructed Sketch (#201).

Hope you'll visit the challenge blog to see the other fab KennyK kreations from the team!  Enjoy your weekend, wherever you are and whatever you do!

Teachers, You RULE!

Hello!  Happy (day after) Teacher' Appreciation Day!  I whipped up a couple of cards for Kayne's Kindergarten teacher and aide and I wanted to share them!  Of course I went with Saturated Canary images!  Because CUTE!  For Kayne's teacher I used Back to School Boy.  He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I used the sketch from the latest Digi Sketch Challenge as my layout.  Papers are from the Grade School stack (DCWV).  I selected a sentiment from the Teacher's Pet stamp set (My Favorite Things) and cut it with Labels Twenty One Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I finished up with a button and baker's twine bow and a notebook edge punch (EK Success).  We popped a Staples gift card inside before delivering it so that Mr. M could buy some things for the classroom on us!

And we couldn't leave out the lovely aide!  She was treated to vibrant bouquet of primary colored daisies and this card!

I used another Saturated Canary cutie!  This is Beautiful World colored with Copics and cut using Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I created a sentiment using the same Teacher's Pet stamp set and stamped it directly on the image panel.  The Sketch Saturday (#359) sketch inspired me to use baker's twine in my design.  Papers are Something Wonderful (Teresa Collins) and I've added a crystal button for a bit of sparkle.

This whole week is Teacher's Appreciate Week (and Nurse's Appreciation Week too as it turns out!)  Take a moment to thank the ones in your life!

Copics used:
Back to School Boy (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89, G94, G99, B00, B02, B04, B06, B2, B34)

KennyK's Krafty Krew #194 - Anything Goes with a Twist: Just A Girl

I'm late, I'm late....  This is the story of my life!  Lol  Not only am I late posting for KennyK's Krafty Krew new Anything Goes challenge, but these special birthday cards themselves (made for my best friend's twin daughters) are late as well!  Their birthday was mid-March.  Ooops.  But hey, better late than never, right?  And I always say I'm worth the wait anyway!  Haha!

Our twist this time around is "Just A Girl".  Use any KennyK digi or clear stamp image for your chance to play along for a prize of two clear stamp sets.  BUT if you utilize the twist you get a bonus prize of 2 digis of your choice as well!  Sweet, right?

For the cards I used the fabulous Team Spirit clear stamp set.  The girls cheer so she was perfect.  I decided that I was going to make the cards the same yet different.  Just like them.  I created two cards with the same Stampvie sketch (#236) using similar Recollections papers in pink and purple.  The sentiment is included in the clear stamp set.  I added a couple of flowers and bling flourishes and a length of lace to each card.  The border punch is from Martha Stewart.  The die cut behind the image is Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Lovely View (Spellbinders) and I used the Resplendent Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) for the images which are colored with Copics.

Pop on over to the challenge blog to see what girly creations the rest of the Krew has to offer!  Then color up a KennyK image (or use one of the awesome pre-colored versions found HERE) and play along!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E50, E51, E53, R20, RV34, RV63, RV66, RV69, B00, B02, Y28, Y35, V20, V25, BV08, N0, N2, N4, N6

The Corrosive Challenge #223 - Hip to be Square

Hello!  I'm running a little late with my post for the new Corrosive Challenge!  We have an awesome new first time sponsor: Oddball Art!  Many of you know it's a challenge in itself for me to be punctual, but this time I did have legit reasons: an ink blob and a misbehaving printer were to blame!  Honest!  This version of Heidi Pinkyswear is the second one I colored after my Copic E47 decided to drip on her head!  Then my new Canon Pixma printer suddenly decided to stop printing from Word when I went to reprint her!  I swear it was a craft room mutiny!  After two hours of searching the Internet for a fix with nothing to show for it but building frustration, I gave up and went to bed.  Some things just are not meant to be!

The next day I was able to download Open Office as a work around, get Heidi reprinted and colored without incident, and finally made into a card for our "Hip to be Square" theme!  All you need to do to play along for your chance to win 3 digis from the lovely Lizzy Love is make a square project!  Visit her etsy shop HERE to see her fabulous images!

I made a humorous birthday card for a friend using Sketch Saturday (#358) as my starting point.  Heidi was colored with Copics and cut using Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Paper is from my stash.  I added a buckle and type charm from Tim Holtz as well as a couple of flowers.  The other two dies used were First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics (My Favorite Things) and Scallop Border die (La-La-Land Crafts).  The sentiment is also from MFT, a set called More Essential Sentiments.

Head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see just how square the design team can be!  While you're there, join in the fun!

Copics used:  E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E79, R20, RV34, BG10, BG72, BG75

KennyK's Krafty Krew Challenge #193 - Anything Goes with a Twist: Flower Power

Hi there!  I'm popping in mid-week to share my latest KennyK creation which accompanies a new clear stamp release AND a new challenge!  Visit KennyK Clear Stamps for the former and KennyK's Krafty Krew for the latter!

Our current theme is Anything Goes (as always) with an optional twist of "Flower Power"!  You MUST use a KennyK image (clear or digi) to play either way, but using the twist will get you more prize if you are our winner.  We are offering 2 clear stamps of choice this time around with a bonus of two digis for using the twist.

Your flowers can be anywhere on your project- the image itself, your papers, the embellishments.  Get creative and let's see your inner hippy!  I'm actually showing my inner rocker as I've used the brand new Sexy Rocker clear stamp!  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Long Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  There are a couple of other dies in use here as well: Zipper (Marianne Design) and Accent It - Rock and Roll Die-namics (My Favorite Things).  I added my flowers, a metal corner, a couple of pieces of bling, and a coating of Glaze pen to her glasses.  The sentiment is one of several that comes with the image.  I thought it would be fun to cut it with guitar pick die!  The zebra print paper is by Canvas Corp. The layout is based on the current Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge (#214).

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll head over to the Krafty Krew blog to see the bouquet of beautiful blooms from the design team!
