Back to School

Hi!  It's September 1st and for me that is the symbolic start of the Fall and Halloween seasons!  Confession time: I have actually had Halloween decorations up since last week!  Lol Hey, life is short.  Find joy where you can!

School started here last week too.  My son entered 5th grade!  Where IS the time going?!?!  Our tradition is to have a big back to school breakfast every year.  He had bacon, pancakes, strawberries, the works!  I also make him a special card to kick off the school year.

This year I selected Laptop Tobie from Some Odd Girl.  Tobie is colored with Copics and cut using the Double Stitched Squares die from La-La Land Crafts.  The papers came with my Lawn Fawn order as freebies and happened to be fun patterns with perfect colors to coordinate with the 5th grade sticker I used. I love serendipitous things like that!

I used Sketch #165 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday for my layout.

I have a goal to clean and organize my craft room this month so I can get back into the swing of things.  I'll keep you posted!

KennyK's Krafty Krew #197 - Anything Goes

Hello!  Apparently when you have a school age child, June is just as hectic as the holidays!  I have been running around non-stop since Wednesday and this week looks like a repeat performance!  With the school year wrapping up and activities coming to an end I'll be needing a few cards.

Luckily, KennyK's Krafty Krew has the perfect challenge for you if you'll be in a crafting frenzy like me!  We usually have a twist, an optional theme that can earn you additional prizes, but this time there is NO TWIST!  Just "Anything Goes" with a KennyK Downloads digi or Clear Stamp!  Our awesome sponsor is none other than KennyK Downloads with a prize of 5 digis of choice for our winner and 1 digi each to our Top 3 picks!

I needed a card for Kayne's tee ball coach.  The season is over and we had a party/award ceremony on Saturday.  I thought it was really something special that he donated his time and effort to these kids in the instructional league and I wanted to thank him for it.  I colored up the super cute Batter Up for the occasion!

He is colored with Copics and cut using Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I kept it simple since I was pressed for time.  The layout is courtesy of Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (HERE).  Papers are American Crafts and the sticker is a Snap Shot from Paperhouse.  I added a piece of jute string and a few red adhesive pearls to finish it off.

And here's the gift we gave the coach!  I went with mostly baseball themed goodies: peanuts, Cracker Jacks, sunflower seeds, Baby Ruth candy bar, Big League Chew bubble gum, and a Dunkin Donuts gift card.

I have another busy week ahead so stay tuned to see what I'll be creating along the way!

Thanks for popping in and enjoy your Monday!

Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, R20, R24, R27, R29, R46, R89, N0, N2, N4, N6

The Corrosive Challenge #216 - Winter Blues

Hello!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  It's time for an new Corrosive Challenge!  Are you ready?  We are sponsored by a company I personally love working with - A Day For Daisies!  There are sweet, whimsical, classic, elegant, and vintage images for every occasion in Tammy's shop and they are a joy to color!

Our theme for this challenge is inspired by the cold winter we're in the middle of here- it's "Winter Blues".  You have two options with this one: create a winter themed project or one that features blue.  It doesn't have to be monochromatic but the blue should feature prominently in your project.

Tammy is offering the generous prize of a $12 gift certificate to her shop and also was sweet enough to offer images to the team to work with.  I selected Robin in Winter.  I needed an anniversary card for my parents this month so I thought a winter themed one would be just right to celebrate their January wedding.  I colored the image with Copics and added some Aleene's Glitter Snow.  The image is cut and matted with Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and I sponged a little Baja Breeze ink (Stampin' Up) for the "sky".  My layout is courtesy of Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (#41).  Papers are DCWV - Winter Basics stack.  I added a cluster of flowers, navy blue organdy ribbon, and a few punched snowflakes which came from the Martha Stewart border punch I used.

Copics used: E04, E07, E31, E35, E53, E57, E59

Be sure to pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the team's Winter Blues creations.  And maybe play along for your chance to win!

Peace, Love, and a Freebie

Hello!  How was everyone's weekend?  I didn't accomplish as much crafting done as I had hoped, but I did manage to get my entry for the All Dressed Up Stamps/Kit and Clowder coloring competition submitted.  I entered just the colored image itself to the Facebook group, but here is the card I created with it.  The image is called Festival Lily and was free upon request.  The only catch was you had to color her up and play along!  This was my first time working with an ADU image and I found it a little challenging, especially the hair which I'm not 100% happy with.  But I persevered.  Then I popped her on a card to give to a friend.  The sketch is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (#22).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Six by Six: Vanity Fair.  I added flowers, baker's twine, pearls, and punched butterflies (Martha Stewart).  The image is cut with the Labels Nine Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I picked up a bunch of cute little wood mounted rubber sentiment stamps from Studio G at Michaels over the weekend.  There were two in each set for a $1.50.  Not a bad deal, right?  I used one here and punched it out with a Stampin' Up circle punch.

Like what you see?  Visit All Dressed Up Stamps for more of these lovely images: shop HERE or join their challenges HERE.

My Boy

Hello!  Another week is kicking off here now, but I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  We had a wonderful one full of family and celebrating my dad for Father's Day.  I used my custom image from Saturated Canary to make a card for him.  This is My Boy and Krista drew it for me as a prize from a contest she had a while back.  She captured my small man to a "T", right down to his favorite blankie and Teddy!  I colored the image with Copics and then cut it using Labels Seventeen Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and added some Shabby Blue Frantage.  I used one of the Fancy Tags dies (Spellbinders) behind the image.  Papers are My  Mind's Eye - Lost & Found: Portobello Road.  The current Sweet Sketch Wednesday (HERE) is my base and I added a few elements like the Flag Banner from La-La-Land Crafts and the sentiment from a Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments Father's Day Centers set that was in my physical stamps stash.  I finished up with gold metal brads from Tim Holtz and a length of blue gingham ribbon.

And, here is the inspiration for the image:

We took my dad out to breakfast with one of my brothers (who actually paid for us all!  Thanks, Jay!) and then spent the rest of the day at my parents'.  Kayne made his papa a special gift and I snapped a photo of the two of them.  He painted the rock himself and was very proud of his handiwork.  The gift was a big hit!

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful dad and it makes me so happy to see the great memories he's building with the next generation too!  Thanks for stopping by and check back for another Father' day card to be blogged before the week is out.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, E31, E39, E79, N0, N2, N4, N6, R20, R32, R35, Y61, B00, B32, N34, B37, BV000, BV02, BV13).
