A Birthday Wish Gone Viral

Hello!  I'm sure by now most of you have heard about 5 year old Danny Nickerson.  Battling for his life against the inoperable and chemo resistant brain tumor he was diagnosed with last year, Danny's 6th birthday on Friday is a really big deal.  All he asked for were cards.  And cards he shall get!  His story has gone viral and the response has been amazing and heartwarming to see- thousands of cards as well as packages and online wishes for a little boy who is bravely facing the unthinkable.  Stories like this one really strike a cord with me now that I'm a mom.  I can't begin to image what Danny and his family are going through, but I can help his birthday wish come true.  I used my custom Saturated Canary image, based on my son Kayne, to create a card for Danny.  The image is called Gamer.  (Here I have fussy cut him to lose the light saber poster.)

The image is colored with Copics and popped up on foam squares.  I used the sketch at Cardz 4 Guyz (#28) as my layout.  Papers are DCWV - the dots, stripes, & plaids stack.  I loved the bright primary colors!  It speaks to me of youth and happiness.  The circle dies are both from Spellbinders - Classic Circles and Beaded Circles Nestabilities.  I added some yellow brads and a glitter chipboard number as finishing touches.

When we dropped the card at the post office this morning I was chatting with the clerk about Danny.  I hear Kayne say "I'm sorry, Momma" from behind me.  I turn, expecting to see some sign of wrong doing, mischief, or trouble, but he is just standing there.  Puzzled, I say "About what, buddy?"  And he responds "That I didn't color a picture for that little boy too!"  He melts my heart and makes me proud, this one!  I reassured him that I signed his name to the card too and that Danny would know he was sending him birthday wishes.

I love my custom image so much that I actually used it twice this week and have another card to share with you tomorrow!
