An Apology

Today's Blog Every Day in May challenge theme: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

It's been a long day and I'm down to the wire on this one, but I would like to apologize to all my brilliant, talented, sweet crafty blogger friends whose fabulous work I never seem to find the time to get around to commenting on!  There are only so many hours in a day and when you work full-time and have a wee one in the house, things can get pretty hectic!  I spend my "free" time creating and blogging, but I seem to forget how important it is to give some love to you, my blogging friends as well!  I know how wonderful it feels to receive genuine, heartfelt comments on the things we blog!  This is a no-brainer!  Why aren't I taking the time to do this with all of the amazing crafters I follow? Only so much  one gal can do, even if she did earn the nickname of Wonder Woman.  So please know that even if I don't always comment I do always think you guys are awesome!

What about you?  What would you issue a public apology for?

The Corrosive Challenge #174 - My Sentiments Exactly

Happy Mother's Day to all you maternal type people out there!  I will be celebrating later at a family cookout, but for now I have a new Corrosive Challenge, a new sponsor, and a new card to share with you!  This fortnight our sponsor is none other than the sensational queen of sentiments: Cheri of Graphicat Designs!  She specializes in sass and snark, but there are plenty of options to choose from in her online store!  She has generously offered a $10 gift voucher for our winner this fortnight!  She has also provided each DT member with a sentiment to use for our new challenge: My Sentiments Exactly!  Simply use a sentiment on the outside of your project to qualify.  Since I am on the DT for her sketch challenge I simply chose a sentiment from my collection.  This one is actually one of four freebies currently offered HERE on the Graphicat Sketches blog!  I paired it with my All That Scraps image which was supposed to be used for the previous Corrosive Challenge.  She was all colored up, but I was so busy that she never made it to a card.  I figured better late than never since she is a beauty.  This is Butterfly Willow from The Tickled Pink Lil Lads and Lolitas line at All That Scraps.

Willow is colored with Copics.  I distressed the edges of my layers with a pair of scissors and add a few stamped elements (from Stampin' Up) to my image panel.  Add flowers, bling, hat pins, and a punched butterfly from my stash to finish.  The papers are My Minds Eye The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine.  I used the current sketch from Sketch N Stash (#113) for my layout.  I like these as they are very basic and leave all the additional embellishments up to you!

I hope you'll head over to the Corrosive Challenge blog to see what the rest of the team has created to inspire you!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, R24, R27, R29, E23, E27, E79, BG10, BG70, BG72, YG93, YG95, Y38, YR15, YR18).

And since I'm here I might as well take care of today's Blog Every Day in May theme as well.  Today's theme: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

Thinking about this one I couldn't settle on one thing that I miss...  I miss my two black cats, Loki and Poe who both have passed on - one from old age, one from illness.  I miss the care-free days of my youth.  I miss the 80s and all that went with it - cheesy movies, hair bands, big hair, and the totally awesome fashion.  I miss living in California where I would wake up to the sound of sea lions barking.  And I miss having someone special in my life.  I'm okay with being a single mom 99% of the time.  But every once in a while I get the crazy idea in my head that I should start dating again...  Maybe one of these days I'll actually be brave enough to do it!  What about you?  What do YOU miss?

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy your day!

10 Words

Today's Blog Every Day in May theme: Sell yourself in 10 words or less.

I went with 10 individual words:

Loving.
Loyal.
Honest.
Strong.
Resilient
Determined.
Outgoing.
Kind.
Funny.
Creative.

Hey, I sound pretty good!  Lol  What 10 words would you use to describe yourself?

You Make Me Blush

Today's Blog Every Day in May theme: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.

That would have to be the day gravity got the better of me!  I love the water.  Ocean, lake, pool.  It doesn't matter!  I'm a fish and I'll swim almost anywhere conditions allow it.  I also love theme park rides.  So let me loose in a water park and I'm on cloud nine!

My most embarrassing moment happened on a water slide like this one.  Straight down.

A long way down.  Plenty of time for your bathing suit to misbehave and leave you, um *spilling out*, when you reach the bottom!  I don't know that I've even been as embarrassed as that day!  I don't embarrass easily, but this was a cringe worthy occasion!  Worse than your dress tucked into your pantyhose or toilet paper stuck to your shoe.  This was three alarm cheeks flaming and an overwhelming urge to crawl under the nearest rock & stay there embarrassing!  lol  Bad.

Luckily I recovered my senses quickly and made the necessary adjustments, but the damage was done!  Gives a new meaning to the phrase "wet and wild", doesn't it?

What about you?  What was your most embarrassing moment?

A Moment

Today's Blog Every Day in May theme is: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)

My absolute favorite moment was when I unwrapped this.  A wee little canvas bearing my son's thumb print encircled with a heart.  A Mother's Day gift to me. Best. Present. Ever.

I love him!

Mom, Mum, Mommy, Ma... And Some Advice

Hi!  I'm checking in today with another card and my Blog Every Day in May post of the day.  I'm sharing another Mother's Day card- this one for a hip mom who love shopping and leopard print!  I immediately thought of Shopaholic from Mayzy Art and colored her up with my Copics.  The paper is Little Black Dress - The New Black from Basic Grey and Six by Six - Vanity Fair from My Mind's Eye.  I used one of my favorite Martha Stewart border punches and added some flat back pearls and a chipboard "Mom" sentiment unearthed from my stash.  The fishtail banners were made using a My Favorite Things Die-namics.  The sketch is the new i {heart} sketches no17.

Today's theme for the Blog Every Day in May challenge is: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

My advice?  Follow your intuition!  It will never steer you wrong!  Listen to those gut feelings even if the rest of the world thinks your crazy.  Or tries to make you think you are.  Listen even if you don't want to hear what it's telling you.  And act!  Follow your heart!  It will always show you the way...

That's all for tonight.  Short and sweet as I'm off to work on more crafty stuff!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, R81, R85, E23, E27, E31, BG10, BG72, YG91, YG93, YG95, N4, N6).

Hey, Mo!

Well, the crafting frenzy continues here!  Yesterday I made three cards (two of which I will share with you now) and today so far I have colored six of the twelve images I need for the bookmarks I am making.  Of course, I can barely see straight at this point and I need to get this post written plus a card made before I can call it a night!

Today I have two cards created with Mo's Digital Pencil images to share.  Mo's Dream Team is holding a DT call and I thought it was time to dip my toes into a bigger creative pond and give it a shot!  I love Mo's adorable images so why not!?  The first card is a Mother's Day card using her Rustic Windowbox image.  This one is a beauty!  Love the country charm!  I colored it with Copics and added glaze to the window panes.  The image is cut with the Labels Three Nestabilities from Spellbinders and popped up with foam squares.  Sketch is courtesy of Cupcake Crafts current challenge (#241).  I thought the My Mind's Eye - Bramble Rose paper was simply perfect for the image!  The border punch is Martha Stewart and my only embellishment is a couple of flat back pearls.  This is the one I'd like to submit for consideration for the team.

My next card was made for Kayne's day care provider.  Today was Teacher's Appreciation Day and though it's not technically "school" she is absolutely a teacher!  So I baked some chocolate chip cookies and whipped up a cute card using Mo's For Teacher image.

He is colored with Copics.  Paper is from DCWV - Nana's Kids.  The sketch is #38 from Seems A Little Sketchy.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch and two Stampin' Up punches for the details.  I kept it pretty CAS, for me anyway, so you could see the cute alphabet paper better.

And finally, today's Blog Every Day in May challenge theme: The thing(s) you're most afraid of.

That would undoubtedly be one of two things: someone I love getting seriously sick or dying!  Now that I'm a mom, and now that I'm getting older, I seem to worry about this more than I once did.  How could I continue to breathe if something happened to my small man?!  How could anything fill the hole in my heart that would cause?!  There are other things that I'm afraid of: spiders, small rodents, things that slither, airplane take offs and landings, heights (except on roller coasters!  Bizarre, right?) but nothing else comes close to the chest-tightening, breath-shortening anxiety I feel because now I can't imagine my life without him.  Or his without me.  I too am only human and have no way of knowing what the future holds for me.  I do know it's an inevitability for all of us that one day we won't be here any longer, but it's one I'd prefer not to think about it.  And I'm hoping when it does happen, it's later than sooner!  Hopefully I didn't depress anyone too much with this post!  lol  But now that it's out there, what about you: What things are YOU most afraid of?

Markers used: Copics
Rustic Windowbox (R32, R34, RV29, N0, N2, BG000, BG0000, YG91, YG93, YG95)
For Teacher (E11, E21, E00, R20, R32, R46, R89, YR00, YR02, B32, B34, B37, B39, N2, YG03, YG93, YG95, E31, E34, Y23, E23)
